That's why I can't focus just on collectibles manufactured by American companies. The prices are simply too much here. The funny things is those anime related collectibles from Japanese companies are pretty cheap...but I have no interest in purchasing them except for those little nature related critters, and maybe the T.rex and Alien Queen from revoltech.

Anyways, Thanks! :clap

Few more tidbits to share...the Stegosaurus maquette will def be larger than the Rex VS Trike Dio...not sure how much that helps but it's what I was told....and more detailed bases are desired by at least one artist...especiallly having a bit more plant life like Cycads.

Last I heard, the Stego may be far and away the largest piece to date. Just want was bounced around in my sphere several months back.

If the stego maquette is going to be huge, I have no doubt that it will cost atleast as much as the spino, possibly will surpass it...but I hope SS provides some smaller, more affordable products from this line next year.

Bigger is always better imo....I got the opposite problem than most people. I have 2 display rooms to fill :).....I hope these pieces get considerably larger in the future it allows more room for intricate detail.

I also love bigger pieces..but the costs it's what's eating me..I mean suppose we get, for example, one huge detailed bust, the Stego maquette ( can't figure why it's not a dio still ), and two more VS Dios ( not a bad probability since we got three this year. )

For a guesstimate..say 300, 350,250,250...1150.00 last year it was about 850.00 total, this year 1110.00..depending on if you buy them all and wether you exclusives the total would change...def an increase from 09'-10' , 2011 doesn't seem so much, but I could be off..especially if the Sego is lare enough to hit the price cap.

If the Stego is going to be really expensive I would certainly like a return to the previous maquette price of 199.00 for awhile...just to offset the expense a little bit...I'm a bit surprised to think they will release it in March so soon after the most-expensive-piece-thus-far...Spino..two 300+ pices back to back..has me a ittle trepidatious to say the least.

Yeah the price is a bit tricky for me as well. I personally would prefer them to stay about the size and price they have in the past.

i'm definitely for the bigger sizes, they're dinosaurs so size really gives them justice. but i agree with everyone here who are getting a bit paranoid with the price increase on this piece. the spino doesn't really look that bulky, even the sail doesn't look that large. he's definitely the longest piece so far but it's still all tail and snout and not enough bulk and mass to justify the price. i may have to agree with this on the stego but not yet on this one.

As long as they keep the artistic details and dynamic poses, morphological accuracies intact, I wouldn't mind seeing some smaller pieces from this line.

That article in PT hinted at some smaller Pterosaur related pieces..guess we'll have to wait and see.

Okay, I'm down with that, but how're we gonna convince Sideshow? :lol

Picket ? boycotts ? small arms fire ? :lol

My sentiments exactly..the Allo VS Dio def has more material than the Spino..it's like comparing a coiled up Anaconda to a 3' black snake...and charging more for the black because it's longer and therefore " larger ". I think it's also fair to compare both snakes in regard to popularity..no one would go to a zoo to see a black rat snake..but an anaconda has a lot of fame. So it really seems SS is banking on the Spino's popularity..which doesn't seem right really.

Yeah like any of us could resist buying these figures, we'd all break the picket line or mess up the boycott. :lol

The price is a bit of a sticking point, and to be honest I really look for a piece to wow me and stamp an indelible impression before I fork out the weighty amount of cash required for such a purchase. As much as it pains me to say it, the Velociraptor VS Protoceratops dio is looking much more tenuous on my pre-order list. I'm just decidedly disappointed in several aspects of the piece, from the backstory to the poses of the dinosaurs therein... :dunno

I've been feelin' the same way Scar..believe it or not I had the same reservations about the Deinosuchus piece...but I came around...I'm really hoping the Velociraptor is that way. That back story just didn't make a good setup, I prefered the story of Whitetip from Discovery's Dinosaur Planet..and the pose was also a problem for it..but I can kind of see it...it's just really hard to shake that first impression. I also had issues with the Spinosaurus but after talking to McVey I'm really turning around quick on it.. ;)

Not sure that I'll have that same sort of recovery from my misgivings. What I liked so much about the notion of a rendition of the Velociraptor VS Protoceratops piece was the potential to render a frighteningly brutal and visceral piece for two relatively diminutive creatures who are not lacking in ferocity for their size. However, the battle is far too one-sided for my taste in its depiction, and the back story adds to that. The Spino I like a great deal, but unless I warm to the Velociraptor, I'm not certain I'll be keeping it. A pity.

That dio is on the bottom of my list as well, I intend to try to get it, but I just don't think I'm going to be able to swing it.
