I am kind of glad that he is sparse on jedi stuff. Most of it just sits in the box anyways and the thinner packaging cuts down on storage space.

Remember too that Clonobi was cast in skin colored resin (HT style) whereas it is likely this piece is back to the old way of painted skin and that most likely accounts for the discrepancy in paint job between EpII and Clonobi.

Without a better look at the detail, that's a strong preliminary assumption. If the beard isn't painted with the same quality, that has nothing to do with materials, it's just brush strokes, I don't imagine cast flesh would make a difference in how paint is laid on. That's the greatest part of the Clonobi head, even against Hot Toys the beard paint apps stand and some of the best work I've ever seen in mass production.

Are you kidding me? It makes a huge difference. Painted heads have more (as you yourself put it) tonality.

For the skin yes. What I'm saying is, so far the beard doesn't look the same quality as Clonobi, and in theory without knowing facts, it doesn't seem to me that wether painting over cast flesh or painted flesh, the strokes that make up the beard couldn't be executed exactly the same.

Dunno. There are many paint inconsistencies from figure to figure in a single release as it is. I think you'd have to fly to China to verify that one. Personally, I'll reserve judgment until I have the item in hand.

:lecture :lecture :lecture Ya don't have to like it, but there's still truth to what he's saying. And before the finger pointing begins, here's the content of my email request to them which is hardly accusatory:
That's not the mail I saw but like I said, there were quite a few and definitely sounds more hostile than yours.

I am getting tired of stating this but those pics posted on their forums are in hand pics and the stock did came whether directly or indirectly from SS factories.

With SS confirming that it is indeed out, I don't see any point in still debating the validity of those pics. The figure is out and it's kinda crappy, PERIOD. Got nothing to do with it possibly being BOOTLEG or SAMPLE COPY.

And the fact that they won't ship it oversea now must have to do with me posting the information here and then this issue gaining SS attention. Now I feel even worse. Imagine all the lost international sales. :monkey2

I wasn't offended at all and have a huge amount of respect for those who actually took the time and trouble verify the information before pointing fingers.

I will still continue posting any info and updates I get here but will have to be more careful with what I post. I wouldn't want to get them into trouble again because of my big mouth.

Well, I'm not personally judging the apps on this figure yet.

I just happened to notice in the discussion regarding what seem to be discrepancies between the Clonobi apps and the AOTC apps that AOTC being done in the older style for flesh could account for the difference and I was just commenting that I think the only way in which I think the production method should cause discrepancy is in the skin because painting and casting are different, but in theory, the hair and beard and eyes could be done the same way so that in the end, the only difference in appearance would be the skin.

I wouldn't blame yourself for the no U.S. shipping. If SSC offered them a chance to have the item in advance to avoid shipping and other hastles, they may have put in stipulations to protect their own U.S. business. Look how many people were antsy to place new orders to get him sooner around here. I'm sure SSC could forsee that if they get theirs a good month or so after other places have it for sale, they could lose some of their orders. Yeah, in the end they still get the money from the retailers, but it doesn't change that their warehouse could be full of inventory that doesn't move without gifts card offers and such.

Just going by what I have heard painters like DA say, the colored resin heads seem to be easier to paint. Something about the materials taking the paints better or more naturally or something than the PVC heads.

I think this has been the most controversial figure to date. First Homer having been told it didn't exist, now noisetrigger being told he didn't really see it.

There is truly nothing like Star Wars passion!

Interesting. If that holds true, then hopefully all future heads will be done this way for the optimum apps, and it's a shame Indy wasn't done that way.

Well, in both instances, information didn't add up. Clone Obi-Wan was just shipping when Homer's news came out, and there's been instances in the past where retailers mislabel items, so the obvious assumption was they were referring to the Clone Obi-Wan wrongly. I think people would have been less likely to question the validity if Clone Obi-Wan had shipped over summer, but for a retailer to have an SSC Obi-Wan due to ship about a month after one's shipping really seemed like it was the figure currently shipping and not something new.

Listing an SSC Obi-Wan due to ship a month after the Clone Obi-Wan seemed more likely the listing was for the Clone Obi-Wan figure and not a new Episode II figure.

That's what I said, booty traps :lol

But now it's soooo much clearer. :p If the product that's about to ship is similiar to the shipping product that already shipped then the one that's about to ship might ship too soon since the shipping one's already shipped.

I understand now. :lol Yeah I agree. I think all the skepticism has been justified by the time line of everything. Though not the level of absurdity some people attached to the whole thing (emailing snaky letters etc..).
