Re: Rogue

I'm hoping the delay means they are really looking into it to see how deep it goes before responding. I'm hoping that's a good thing in the end. We still havent been given any info if the next 1500 are even done or if they have the same issues. I still thought it was very strange that the run was TBD till even after the EX shipped. Then all of a sudden its 1500 larger than any other PF run...... Im hoping that the normal's arent done and that they extended the run by 500 more to compensate with new normal heads.

Could be just wishful thinking. But as I said before I havent had a bad experience with SS before. I'll wait until they announce something to decide if this ends up being a bad experience.

Re: Rogue

Wonder how many people who aren't even fans of Rogue ordered this because of the stupid rumored "grail status"?

i think alot of people order pieces soully on the hopes it'll reach grail and or 1k mark. I have to admit that in the beginning i was like that, but now my collecting has been cut way back and only order what i like anymore. still have all my earlier pieces still and i'm glad i've got them.

I order just what I like, hoping it is worth more down the road as any collector would. I think in the current time, there won't be any more Doom, Hulk, Cap, Iron Man grails anymore.

Re: Rogue

For me this whole line is nostalgia. I was 10 years old during the heart of the Jim Lee era with the Xmen were at the prime of popularity. So for me I wouldnt want anything other than this. I know others would prefer the generation of Xmen before Lee.

Gambit is my favorite comic character. Not for what they have done with him in the last 15 years or his own stories. But because when I was 12 I liked him more than anyone else. Its the same reason Peyton Manning can never be a better QB than Dan Marino. Marino was my hero when I was 12. That will never change for the rest of my life.

Rogue is up there as well for obvious reasons. Its a shame that one of the 2 characters i cared about more than any others in this line has turned out this way. Its way I'm still holding my breath hoping for a solution.

I'm with the John Byrne late 70s/early 80s X-men era.

Re: Rogue

X-Men is really all over the place. The Kirby/Lee era is not bad but very dated. Byrne's Dark Phoenix saga will always be alongside Days of Futures Past as one of the best storylines. The new movie had several of the characters that were introduced in the Dark Phoenix Saga. And of course you have Jim Lee when the comic market crashed due to 55 different X-Men titles. ;) I think Byrne and J. Lee have the best art for the characters though and this sculpt looks very nice.

I started reading x men in the late 80's/early 90's. the cartoon was what hooked me

Re: Rogue

I have a run of uncanny starting at about 160 to 300 so its not like I dont love specific stories or even art prior to Lee or anyone else for that matter. I have DotFP set as well. Probably my favorite cover is uncanny 141. Though 142 and 350 are close seconds.

But yeah i watched the cartoon when I was 10-13 and I gotta say thats how the xmen should be to me. Thats how they were introduced. That era was awesome even though the industry bombed during/after it.

Space station avalon...pulling out wolverines metal in his bones... This is the main reason I was so interested in the PF line.

LOL...I have the same run except mine includes 100-142 and some scattered Silver Age $.12 cent issues......mostly raw books but quite a few CGC copies as well.

My favorite cover is X-men #102 because the badass Juggernaut appears on it.....my favorite Marvel villain. :rock

But the reason I bought and then cancelled this Rogue statue is because I own this book, Avengers Annual #10 in CGC 9.8 (1981)...First appearance of Rogue.

Re: Rogue

thats a nice book to have a 9.8 on. I have like who knows how many uncanny 266.

Wasnt there some weirdness to Rogues 1st appearance (like she has 2 1st appearances or something) or am I thinking of someone else.

1. Yeah, Uncanny #266 in CGC 9.8 go for $100-200 on eBay.

2. I'm not sure but you may be thinking of an earlier Rogue 1st appearance story, intended for Ms. Marvel #25 (June 1979) that went unpublished until 1992?

avengers annual 10 was when she took ms. marvel's powers

Yup

"With her memories and powers wiped out by Rogue of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Ms. Marvel is rescued from San Francisco Bay by Spider-Woman. After her identity is revealed, Spider-Woman decides to call in her friends the X-Men to try and restore Carol Danvers' lost memories."
