Awesome pic man!! I LOVE the poses. All of them are amazing but this one really stands out to me. Great work bro.

:lsvader

Thanks Josh, it's actually my favorite of that batch too, followed closely by the one with the locked sabers. It's all about lighting for me and I just love how ominous Vader looks in it between his pose and how little detail is revealed, especially in his mask area.

Question: the back end of my holster -- the seam -- is open. I thought it was to accomodate the blaster but now I'm thinking it's supposed to be sealed. Anyone here have the same issue? Do I need to glue it shut?

So I managed to go home for dinner, and take a look at the water treated holster. :) I'm pleased. i'm Super SUPER pleased at the resul, the holster now fits the blaster like a glove, and slides in and out with incredible ease :) Also, the holster now holds a much more realistic shape when it's empty as well. NOt to mention the securing strap and the magnet fold over perfectly. I'll post pics when I get home in 7 hours.
I'm just sad that the legstrap was not glued on mine. I'm gonna try to stich it back together, as I think thread will hold up infinitely better than glue anyways.

If any of you want to try this, here is what I did. Fit the blaster into the holster as far in as you can get it without forcing it. Turn on the sink and turn on the warm water(note, I said warm, like room temperture, not hot, as hot will melt the glue), run the warm water over the holster with the blaster in it. JUST THE HOLSTER, not the belt. it's also best if Luke is wearing the holster when you do this, so to keep it sitting correctly on his leg. after the holster is throughly soaked, push the blaster deeper into the holster, lightly wiggling it as you do so. Once the pistol is as deep into the holster as it will go, fasten the magnetic strap. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT Make sure that the strap gets wet as well, you will know if everything is fited correctly, as the magnet in the strap will meet up with the magnet in the holster correctly, and stay fastened. After that, just let it dry, COMPLETELY. this will take several hours, so I recomend doing this before you go to sleep. Once it finishes, the holster will be a bit more solid, and will have form fit itself to the pistol. when the pistol is not in the holster, it will retain the shape, and the gun will slide eaisly in and out of the holster, like a real one. I'll post pics of what mine looks like in a few hours, so you can see.

Great news, lerath. Eager to see picstures later.

Also, is your holster split open where the trigger part of the gun goes? Mine is, and it will need to be adressed before I try your soak method.

I don;t think so, but I'm back at Work and Ca't check it. Either way can you show me a picture just so I can be sure I understand what you're talking about?

Use of these awesome images is in all due respect to Maulfan and all the photo joy he brings to Sideshow Freaks!

Lerath, thanks for the tip, please post pics as soon as you can. I'm guessing that this trick would also work on the Han Solo?

I don't have a Han, but assuming his holster is made of simular leather to luke, it should work just fine :)

Thanks! I'll give it a shot.....

Well I just had the chance to take this figure out of the box and it is easily one of my favorites.....the only downer is that as I tried to gently, and I mean gently place the gun in the holster the nozzle snapped right off! I thought a little crazy glue might work but whatever the gun is made of,is not bonding to the glue. I'm going to contact customer service.

Speaking of customer service , what is their process? Do I need to send the broken gun back?

Man, I'm still blown away at the paint on that Jedi Luke. The expressive eyes, the lifelike skin tone. Did that factory burn down or what?

I'd say no, I feel that, aside from the lips, Anakin is just as nicely done, as is Obi-Wan, Leia Boushh, say what you will about character choice but production quality on the Endor Troops is superb, and aside from subpar eye apps, Bespin Luke is very nicely done skin tones and hair paint. The only Star Wars figure I've felt was below SSC standards in paint was Yavin Luke, everything else has come out very well, in the application of the paint anyway, certainly there's room for debate over color choices and such, but the application of the paints onto the figure have been great in the Star Wars line.

Very nice! Sean you've got a great talent for this stuff. I have to say I'm jealous.

Thanks Josh, it's funny cuz I'm not totally content with it, but ask DA or Les about their artwork and they'll say the same, you always feel like you could do better. I'll likely do more with that Bespin Luke image in the composition though, I love the promo shot from ESB I based it on and I think the lighting replication turned out quite well as far as matching the real image.

I'd agree. Outside of Yavin Luke the rest have been really nice. Bespin Luke's paint job is really really good I've got no issue on it at all.

I'm not saying Obi-Wan, Sith Anakin and others don't have good paintjobs, but Jedi Luke had great paint, easily Sideshow's best human paintjob ever imo. It's just a shame that they couldn't keep it at that great level, and just went back to being good.
