SSC and possible fake WL? Why I have doubts now.

Yes, why put something in WL when it's not even remotely selling. IMO when they put it on WL people jump on it quicker thus increasing the orders.

Why jump on the Wait List if you aren't prepared to buy the item? Again, you're essentially blaming Sideshow for your own impulse control issues. :dunno

You are right about the impulse control. I went on the WL again to test my theory that SSC was doing fake WL soldouts. Look the reality is this. If they just leave it without putting items on WL, it gives people options. It's not that I am trying to not pay the NRD but wouldn't it be nice to have the option. Every NRD add up. When u have (example) $2k worth of statues ready to ship and you (example) put it over $500 in NRDs. Those NRds items (example) are WL conversion. Sometimes not always, NRDs put u in a bind on items ready to charge. Let's say if the $500 were fabricated WL soldout, you could have applied it to the ready to ship items.

Look SSC has some real sold outs because those usually preordered sells out within a day. I just want SSC to be more forth right on true Preorder sold out.

I really don’t think VS’s impulse control is the issue here. It’s the fact that SSC is trying to get people who are ordering an item to get on the WL for the exclusive of an item and that way they will be able to move more of them by converting the order on the fake WL instead of them going somewhere else to order the regular for less. If something is listed as WL then it makes people think it’ll be worth more and be harder to get down the line, which for a lot of collectors is a factor in deciding purchases. SSC doesn’t want the items just sitting around so listing it as WL is one way that they are fooling people into buying some of the slower selling items now instead of later, taking away money that the person might have been able to use on current orders.

:exactly: Damn u couldn't have said it better Shadow.

You what the REAL issue is?

Certain collectors/individuals who continue to whine about "unfairness" with the hobby regarding how some can continue to acquire/collect what they want, afford what they want, etc. compared to those who can't afford, have to budget, or just plain out of luck about acquiring/collecting what other are able to acquire/collect . . . how the collectibles are getting more expensive, etc. . . . and continue to post about this & that endlessly.

I'm getting tired about hearing & reading "class" warfare in the news and perhaps I'm getting tired about reading so many variations of the same discussion/topic about acquisition/collecting class warfare within the hobby?

If you absolutely/truly want it and will pay for it, then pre-order it . . . FLEXPAY it . . . whatever.

IF you hesitate and it goes on the WAIT LIST, then get on the WAIT LIST and take your chances. If it converts, then great. If it does not, then oh, well . . . life goes on.

Coming up with analysis . . . theories . . . conspiracies . . . shilling . . . etc. by Sideshow or anyone else with regards to how quick or slow a product sells out or if the product is not that popular . . . whatever . . . is moot because . . . you did not order it . . . you will not order it . . . you can't afford it . . . you're just looking for an excuse to complain/rationalize why you didn't get it in the first place for whatever reason.

NOTE: This is not a personal attack @ you VS1976. I'm just ranting like others.

:exactly: Sideshow is basically using these fake sellouts to play with collectors' emotions..its basic human psychology here..a fake SOLD OUT gives an illusion of scarcity and scarcity always adds value to any collectable which is so important to collectors, thus the need to act urgently and get on the WL :lecture

Damn emotions.... :( Why does collecting statues have to be like this. It was so much better when they didn't have the NRD. Surprisely I spent more money in the past before the NRD was introduced.

NRD is actually a good idea..A deposit is absolutely needed in order to separate the serious buyers from those who tend to waste everyone's time :monkey4

Well it does stop the flippers though so I would have to agree with u on the NRDs.

I am not complaining about any of this. I just see what SSC is doing and while I don't like it personally, I do understand it from a business perspective. Why keep a bunch of items sitting around in a warehouse when you can feed off of the collector’s desire to own “hard to find and rare” pieces by adding a WL to them and pushing them out the door that way?

As for “class warfare”, I personally only buy pieces that I really want and could care less about what and how many statues other people buy. Ex - I really like Lara Croft and plan on getting the new PF one way or another, sooner or later. None of the other statues have gotten my attention since she was announced because none interested me. If some people can afford to buy crap loads of statues, good for them. I can’t and I accept that.

I don't mind the NRDs. It's just like pre-ordering limited or collector versions of games back in the day when they were hard to get and stores didn't carry them. You only had a short window to get them and a deposit was required, but it made sure you got your copy. If I have to put down a NRD to make sure I get the exclusive, I am fine with that. I just don't like having to sit around and hope that a WL converts when they have more than enough to just leave it as available.

Assuming the conspiracy is true:

Let's face it, marketing in general is a deceptive practice, I think this would fall under that umbrella. If it got someone to buy something they otherwise wouldn't, then it was completely successful. What can you do?

Is this post for real???...
Obviously the OP hasn't experienced the REAL frustration of a Sold Out item in minutes... and the happiness of the WL converting...
Seriously... some collectors are way too spoiled...

Getting what you want is a problem now?... :dunno

For the last year, I didn't believe SSC was doing fake WL Sold Outs until today. IMO, if there are NRD in place, there really should be less WL conversions. The fact is that I had over 8 WL conversions (7 items + 1 duplicate) is very suspicious. All the ES were announced also. I hope I am wrong on this but my gut is telling otherwise.

Yes it is, I'm :inlove with the statue, at least in theory. I am waiting for in-hand pics because I don't want to open the box only to see some catastrophe like what happened with Rogue and end up :cut someone at SSC because of it. But I gotta have faith, as they say.

I don't think SSC would let them screw up Tim Millers sculpt. The TM Lara comiquette was perfect.

I don't think its fake WL. I think Nam is right in that once it the # allotted gets below a certain number the WL option goes up. This allows SS to make sure that they haven't oversold an item (which has happened) and as people jump on it converts. Now, it will also convert over time as people actually cancel and eat the NRD. Also remember that the NRD isn't charged until 24-48 hours so people have that time to cancel even if its flipped to the WL.

Long story short order the item if you want it and it converts be happy for yourself. Otherwise who gives a crap.

I am praying and hoping they don't. I am really looking forward to the day when I got both the PF and my comiquette on the same shelf in my besta:drool.
