I used to think that TBD ES really was TBD, but to say there's less than 70, 60, 30, etc left, they either have to know the number they're making, or they have a specific range in mind, the orders just help to determine where in that range the ES falls.

Either way they must know at this point how many Batman EXs they are producing.

They have an idea whenever they list a pre-order, because there aren't infinite spots opened up at that time. But they could open more spots later if they felt the demand was high enough. Or, if pre-orders are slow, they could decrease the number they initially anticipate.
