I'd like to be the first to point out that Sideshow has delivered this PF before the likes of Chewbacca, R2, 3P0, Stormtrooper, etc.

:lecture

That's pretty much my take as well. It's a great effort by Sideshow, but an absolute jaw-dropper & head-scratcher of a character choice in the format at this time.

Yet people would complain if the droids, Chewbacca and Stormtrooper PF's came out back to back because they weren't spaced out more so they wouldn't have to drop a lot of money in a short period.

I enjoyed this little comic when I read. Of course being a Darth Maul fan helps out. Really a very cool and interestingly designed. If I was really still collecting PF's I would seriously consider getting it. I truly like the look of the piece.

I haven't bought any Star Wars pieces, but this looks pretty cool. I like it, very unique and creative!

Wow! Ladies and Gentleman, a NEW low!

Another nail on the Star Wars coffin for me. I would love to still be in 2007 right now before Star Wars blew up in a million screwed up pieces.

Still waiting for something to be excited about for Star Wars. It's been a LONG time.

This statue=FAIL. If this was in the movies okay, but since when did Maul come back as a Cyborg and wouldn't he be after Obi-Wan's a** after what he did to him?

Looks to be well executed and I love the design. This will be my first Star Wars PF believe it or not.

EU is ca ca but that PF is amazing Imo.its perfectly crafted and looks beautiful.

He was.

In 2005, Dark Horse Comics published Star Wars: Visionaries, a compilation of comic art short stories written and illustrated by members of the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith art department and ILM artists. The opening story, "Old Wounds" by Aaron McBride, is set three years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and begins with Owen Lars trying to teach new words to a toddler-age Luke Skywalker. A resurrected Darth Maul, with cybernetic replacements to his entire lower body, attacks the Lars homestead in hopes of drawing Obi-Wan out; he reveals that he has been tracking Obi-Wan ever since their encounter on Naboo, barely missing him at key points in the films. Obi-Wan, for fear of any injury to the young Luke, dusts off his old lightsaber, and meets Maul's challenge. At a pause in the ensuing struggle, Lars shoots Maul in the head, killing him.

Surprising yes but far from a jaw dropper. Maul is adored by the fanboys, is the most popular character from the prequels, and is one of the few SW characters to gain after market value.

Everybody loves Maul.
Could be worse. Couldve been a zombie Maul.
- goes ahead and :lols at replies saying a zombie maul would actually be cool!-

I do think it is a good choice on Sideshows part.

They do have a lot of demand for the EU characters. Its great that they are releasing them in different formats.

An EU release works well during their current event. They know it won't be hugely popular, so there won't be people whining that there was no announcement about it, nor a priority pre-order.

The ES will likely be low, but I'd be willing to bet they are watching to see how well it does sell, and if it does, they'll do more obscure EU characters.

The droids, stormtroopers in PF format will be announced well ahead of time, and likely given the priority re-order treatment.

Kudos for Sideshow! While the piece isn't for me, if I was more of a Maul fan, I would probably purchase it. It shows that they are willing to break the mold, and produce some of the more unusual characters from the EU. Its well executed, great pose, and will look good in any collection. Its just not for everyone. Relax, be thankful that you don't have to spend money on it, and you can save for the item you REALLY want.

I'm a Star Wars fan and all. I can't stand the EU garbage that's out there. It borders Star Trek nerdiness...

don't know anything about EU. I love everything from the waist up. Those chicken legs are not the best design.

Thanks for the fill-in on this story.

This is definitely a creepy look for Maul. No doubt it would have been a great return for Maul and unfortunate they didn't do this for the film. It's amazing that such a bad-a** like Maul was taken out by a shot in the head by Lars. That's actually pretty funny in a sad way!

I do appreciate the story fill-in. Many of us don't have the time to look at every type of medium out there (comics, graphic novels, cartoons, novellas, encyclopedias). Most people I think identify with the films and that's where I figure has the more significant impact for me.

I'm not at all interested in this statue, but it really would have made an amazing part of the prequels if they resurrected Maul. That's really too bad. The cyborg looks really creepy honestly.

Funny how everyone hates it here and at SF they find it amazing.this will sell out.You cant deny the amazing craftmanship in this.kudos to Sideshow.
