I doubt its not profitable to license out the marvel when these movies are making tons of money. If anything perhaps Disney wants to ask more for licensing them now or potentially to move in a new direction. All conjecture of course

All speculation, but the license issue would definitely explain why there was such a rush for SS to put out tons of Marvel stuff earlier this year...and especially stuff that was in development for a long time.

Off the top of my head:

Jean Grey
Daredevil
Thor
Red Hulk
Green Hulk
Grey Hulk
Emma Frost
Sentinel
Dr. Doom

Plus movie related statues from Thor, Cap, and Iron Man.

That's a crap load of Marvel products, and most of those were up for PO before SDCC. And let's face it, some of those pieces have elements that look a little rushed.

That's what makes it believable to me... Plus the focus on the Court of the Dead these last 2 months.

Hmmmm.. That would explain the strange Cap pre order where there was not even a statue to look at.

That situation is still a weird one in itself though. The full statue was shown at SDCC and generally received very well, yet official pics haven't been published to the site yet.

Overall I think SS needs a different method for handling the movie statues. I get they want timeless pieces and setbacks occur so there's apparently no rush to be in time for the movie, which would be ok if they stopped announcing support for a movie before it's release and not come through with any product until much later...if it's not that simple, why?

Thor: the Dark World PF just went up today and that Home Video has been out for how long now? We see the costume for Avengers 2 and here they finally come with that... Avengers 2 will probably be out by the time that Thor ships...Iron Man LSB was so delayed the original Iron Man 2 branding was changed to Avengers 2 they took so long.

There's gotta be a better way to handle these things.

They might have lost the rights of 1/4th statues or they're being renegotiated. Well, that's what I was told today, hope it isn't true actually, because that would mean no competition which is bad for us collectors.

I doubt they lost the license. Igo from SSC just started a thread on statueforum.com last month asking everyone to list their top six most desired Marvel PF's and it's still ongoing. Why would he bother if they were about to be done with the whole license?

If anyone cares here's how the votes are stacking up:

Magneto 44
Juggernaut 33
Thanos 28
Loki 19
Mister Sinister 18
Omega Red 17
Doctor Octopus 16
Dark Phoenix 15
Brown Wolverine 14
Lizard 10
Green Goblin 10
Dr. Strange 9
Phoenix 9
Cable 9
Archangel 8
Ghost Rider 7
Mysterio 7
Rogue 6
Spider-man 6
Black bolt 5
Beta Ray Bill 5
Professor X 5
Beast 5
Nova 5

Lol... All she said was that she imagines at some point or another they will make one. It means nothing.
Yeah Lol but it was in the Way she said it. Usually she say not in the pipeline or I don't know. This seemed good also considering that Igo's poll has him sitting at #2 helps

Their Court of the Dead line probably yields a higher profit margin per piece sold due to licenses, but Marvel sells through WAY faster. I wonder if it's just worth it to focus more on their own lines than the characters everyone knows. Or maybe to see a profit they have the pressure of having to produce X number of statues to meet a certain profit from the license and can't do low runs.

Personally if that's the inevitable direction they are gonna go then I'm gonna be done with Sideshow pretty quick. I could care less for obscure statues of characters no one would recognize. I love my Star Wars and comics characters. Their Court series caters to a pretty small niche demographic. They should take that stuff to horror shows and such.
