Kings mod is awesome but the ridge round the bottom would be more of an issue for me than the mask not wrapping round enough... stock head looks ok head on but the viper mask is always going to have that ridge...

I'm in the same boat.

There is nothing wrong with the mod in fact it's quite creative.

The helmet face shield isn't a big deal to me. So he might have a black skimask underneath...whatuvit.

I'd prefer that to the mask they gave CC but wouldn't want to go through the extensive mod.

There's a ridge.

Well, its not perfect. But I can turn his head side to side and there is no half mask with black sculpt showing. Aside from the point in the helmet, I'm really digging the Viper shield. Of course after all the work I put in, how could I say I don't like it .....

I feel the same way. Cobra Commander is famously disfigured. I feel like the black would be a ski mask or compression-garment type thing. Black piece doesn't bother me one bit but the mods DO look great.

Just got my CC yesterday and I love him. Great figure. I planned to modify him a bit but, I don't think I will after having him in hand. He fits in very well with the Baroness and doesn't look as skinny in hand as in the pics I have seen. My only gripe is he and the Baroness make the Crimson Guard look like ish. If I could choose another figure to be redone it would be the Crimson guard (maybe redo Destro's head first then the CG ).

I snapped some with v1 and v2 hoods. I'm probably gonna sell my v2 hood; I'm just not satisfied with it. I'll likely be painting the v1 hood a brighter blue to go with the v2 uniform and be done with it.

I am in total agreement. I'd much rather see some new figures first. But, I'm really glad they went back to the drawing board with Cobra Commander. This is how he should have been done in the first place.

I don't know why I'm so on the fence with this one. I've never been completely satisfied with the v1, but even looking at the v2 in hand at my local comic shop didn't win me over. Over the past 5 years I've purchased every release (minus the ninjas), basically in good faith, but I'm just not sold.

Its night and day. V1 Cobra is every bit a Sideshow figure from 6 years ago, definitely shows its age, V2 is better is every single way a figure could be better.


Except price.

I love the helmet with the Viper shield; the change is subtle but affects his entire appearance. You gave Sideshow's more traditional/classic take on the helmet the modern flare it needed IMO. And I like the crease from the Viper mask, if helps frame the face. Again, awesome job bro.

If I was confident I could do the mod myself, I would get him already. I chose an EX Viper over CC because I couldn't decide and because I couldn't not get another fig alongside Baroness; who's awesome but un-futzable I'll get him eventually, I just was hoping for better straight out of the box.

i think most people would see sideshows take as modernised & King's custom as a more classic take... but i can see what you mean.
