Nah it still wouldn't be worth that much. The Red 5 Luke was already too expensive and the fact that they upped the price of this one $30 is ridiculous. This might have been worth closer to what the first release was priced at because there are at least more accessories but realistically neither should have cost more than the Hot Toys Tatooine Luke.

I dunno - there's $75 more to this than Yoda at (equally insane) $200. But don't get me wrong - this is a $200 figure SSC is simply and blatantly gouging an extra $75 out of, riding the HT gravy train. The proof is the comparable (in terms of what you get) SSC Luke Hoth figure... which cost $199 (and that was high even then.)

How this is $75 more just 12-18 months later is beyond explanation, except the obvious. Honestly, it's insulting. You stand by SSC for this many years and the thanks you get is more than double the prices a few years later, and forever leaping higher. I'd write a letter of complaint if the idea wasn't so laughable. I really wanted this figure and aren't in the "I'll wait for HT" herd but nearly $300 makes me want to say get lost.

Anyway, yes... the handpainted proto looks amazing!!

Now that I got the Luke Pilot figure, which I said I wouldn't when this was released :slap, I'm now happy to just wait and see how this one comes out.

I was really happy with my ANH display except for Farmboy Luke, so the X-Wing version came to the rescue. The orange flight suit really looks so damn cool on the shelf.

Maybe it's a one-year rental until this comes out. I'll find out next year.

I don't like the HT Luke Farmboy headsculpt (or HT Han) so this will be the Luke I'll get. Worse case I'll keep the helmet on or use a HT Bespin Luke sculpt.

Yeah if there's any reason I would finally break down and get this, it's because of how much the orange suit would really stand out on the shelf. But still, for that price I expect to at least get a decent headsculpt out of it. And I don't want to be obligated to only display it with the helmet on the entire time either.

I wouldn't mind an option to have the head on display with the X-wing Luke, but I'm not sure either of the ANH ones cut it for me. I guess I would go with the HT head, though I really don't like the hair on it. The Sideshow hair piece has a decent shape to it but is like this hard little rock that's really difficult to get on (even on the SS head) and leaves paint marks on the head sculpts so I'm not sure I want to try putting that on the HT head again. Both sculpts look great with the helmet on though.

The snowspeeder head sculpts both look good, but as everyone has said, that's almost meaningless at this point. I guess the one with the helmet is likely to be fine, but the other one is a huge question mark still.

How readily will Hot Toys heads attach to Sideshow neck posts?

I could see myself using HT Luke in stormtrooper disguise's head on this body, since I can just leave the helmet on the stormtrooper.

I saw this sell on ebay a few days ago for $178.88.

I almost pulled the trigger. But this one seems more well-equipped -- belt, holster, blaster, lightsaber.... and cozy orange jacket.

Personally I wish they'd paint the irises a little smaller. I was surprised to find that was the sticking point for me with the X-Wing Luke paint app - the irises look way too large, making him look kinda creepy. This Luke looks to be the same way.

The Luke X has been down in the $175 range a few times (there was a Japan sale a couple of months ago) but only after the Luke snowsp was announced - at $175 it at least starts to feel like an "okay" deal. If the head had come out as well as the handpainted-proto-in-fingers pic, it would have been well worth the $200 mark, making that $175 a nice price... but it didn't.

Even well over a year later, it's kind of hard to believe they put $240 on such a basic figure with a head that came out so underwhelming.

I was able to snag the X-wing Luke on a good discount but always preferred the look of the Snowspeeder Luke.

I won't be double-dipping unless this one gets heavily discounted. I will say that I really like the X-wing Luke figure. With the helmet on, he fits in perfectly with the Hot Toys figures and he's actually one of my favorite Star Wars figures in general. I highly recommend either Luke pilot figure, if you can pick them up for a good price.

I was hoping to see the proto of this at SDCC has anyone heard of any delays being likely on this figure?

Thanks for this pic Tinman. I think I've seen that before somewhere. Let's hope that Sideshow produce something close to that head in production. If so I'll be very happy, but unfortunately I'm not holding my breath!

I think they just wanted to focus on the bounty hunters rather than all of those and then Luke. I don't think they've ever shown that other black droid either--R5-J2, but obviously Luke is a bit more of interest than a repaint.

I never got X-wing Luke as a show of "strength" against the crazy price. But my shelf bleeds for an orange Luke.

This figure looks much better and has more weapons and goodies (and a higher price) ... if only I knew if HT was going to offer one at next SDCC. With this near $300 price tag, I don't want to get burned by a better offering only months after I set this on the shelf.
