The waitlist for certain figures feels like Sideshow trying to pick up on people on the fence. They probably realize people want this figure but not for the price they're charging. Make it look like it's sold out and you get some of those people to join the waitlist out of fear of not being able to get one or having to turn to the secondary markets and then however long later suddenly get a conversion. I've seen it happen with other figures where they'd go to waitlist briefly (usually right before release) and then they're suddenly back in stock. The only figures that seem to truly sell out fast are those that are some kind of exclusive or movie promo edition where a lower number is produced. I have a feeling with this figure that's not the case. Also as mentioned Sideshow has done second runs on a lot of their Star Wars figures.
