$240 is apparently the new 1/6 price point for SSC (Punisher, Ash, and Darth Maul)--and this is $10 more. :slap I'd love for SSC to prove me wrong and release a figure that is a big step up in quality from their past releases. I'd love to see a solid HS like Darth Malgus again or get a body that doesn't break. The unfortunate thing is that if the piece doesn't sell well the prices won't go back down. They'll just kill the Marvel line like GI JOE. They've already pretty much done so with their DC line.

Except it is, because they didn't just license the film - they had to license Kurt Russell's likeness too.

Yeah, Kurt Russell is comparable to Disney.

Personally I don't have much interest in this when there's at least three great Hot Toys Wolverines available for less. It's an ugly figure with lots of questionable design choices, like most of Sideshow's comic-inspired figures so far. They've squandered the DC and Marvel licenses, in my opinion.

Hot Toys didn't make Wolverine figures. They made Hugh Jackman cosplay dolls. I can appreciate disagreement over interpretations, but if you'll settle for Fox's and not Sideshow's, you're courting a double standard. Personally, this figure blows away every HT attempt and it's because despite it being their own take, it's 100% Wolverine.

I don't like Sideshow's DC figures, but their Marvel offerings rock.

I guess we've found the Elliot Rodgers of toy collecting. Classy.

I don't know what an Elliot Rodgers is, but perhaps you could benefit from some self-awareness. I even colored it for you.

Yeah, Kurt Russell is comparable to Disney.

Disney/Marvel rights come as a package. Kurt Russell's face doesn't. The cost is spread over whatever they produce for the Marvel line vs licensing for one figure and one actor likeness. That's not even taking into account other figures Sideshow and other companies have made that have required very specific licensing and still cost less.

Right, dolls that required both the Marvel/Fox Movies licensing and Hugh Jackman's likeness rights. Regardless of how you felt about the interpretation that doesn't change the objective fact that figures were made, requiring more expensive licensing than this comic interpretation, some with multiple outfits and considerably more accessories, with extremely realistic sculpt and paintwork, that were cheaper than Sideshow's offering.

You're really not so much offering a counter-argument as you are revealing yourself to be a rabid brand fetishist at this point.

Yes, because **** jokes are always funny no matter how little effort or imagination you put into them :ohbfrank:

Yeah it's overpriced. Although everyone knows how SSC rolls these days.

Having said that, this figure has to be the best SSC has made in a while, I love how the suit is baggy, I love how he has an ugly mug like Wolverine SHOULD, it really looks like a dangerous little runt.

On the subject of license costs, popularity and size of production run dictating pricing: Ash is the same price as Wolverine here, give or take $10. Am I honestly expected to believe that an Evil Dead 2 action figure is going to be as in-demand in 2016 as a figure of Marvel's Wolverine?

I'll echo your sentiments. It'd be nice if this pricepoint is reflected in the quality of the finished products, I've got fond memories of the company going back to their James Bond line - but at this point I'll believe it when I see it.

This. Logan is no monster, but he ain't a pretty boy either. He's an old school bad-***, complete with gritted teeth, cigars (damn the comics code!) and "tortured soul". That's what made him different. He wasn't a cheerful, handsome fellow, but (in the start) a stone-cold killer. And, I know I've said it many times, but I don't find any faults with the fig. It's perfect IMO. Sure, it's baggy and the gauntlets aren't faithful to the original costume, but I'm really loving this. For example, they botched Punisher and messed up Deadpool (thank goodness for the HT fig), but this design is nearly flawless, again, IMO...

The price is all that's stopping me from PO-ing, as I'd love to get the Muramasa Blade as well. If it ever goes on sale I'm for sure buying this, but I don't know, I feel as I should support this line if I want Doom to get made (they teased him in that first pic). Really, Doctor Doom is the one fig I'd spend even 300$ on. He's alternating with Moon Knight for my Number 1 "Favourite Fictional Character" spot. Dunno what to do, it's not like I'm drowning in cash...

Specificity and lack of options by which to amortize costs are no indication of the price of a license.

The DOFP figure cost $250 (the same) and had no accessories. The black and yellow one had a stand and cost $15 less. The Origins figure cost $10 less than that and was loaded. You see how license is not a factor that explains anything in isolation? Just like popularity of a character explains nothing in isolation; just like manufacturing costs, or regulations, or any single aspect. But you keep singling them out as though one is adequate to discredit any other presented as a justification.

You're really not so much offering a counter-argument as you are revealing yourself to be a rabid brand fetishist at this point.

Nice smear. I'm criticizing the concept of overpricing itself. People are conferring the status of objectivity on their distaste for the price, when the only people who have a real grasp of how the price is arrived at are the manufacturers. That is not only because they're the only one's privy to their own economic situation, but because they are producing the figure to sell, not to satisfy a demand. Demand is a means to their own objectives, it's not the objective. That's the consumer's business. If they wish to participate or not is subjective as far as the producer is concerned.

Yes, because **** jokes are always funny no matter how little effort or imagination you put into them :ohbfrank:

I wasn't making a joke. You're complaining about a word being in a sentence.

Let me just cut all this arguing. It's simple greed. And they don't have the quality to back it up. I myself will be getting this figure because it is a grail figure for me but after that I'm done with sideshow. Most of my stuff is hot toys anyways. Sideshow knows everyone wants a comic wolvie to pose and that's why it is 250.00. Along with the new sideshow Vader barebones at the price of the dx I got 2years ago with a ton of stuff including a great hs of annakin ECT. New one has a black stand thats it. . Darth maul same deal over priced without even a cloak!!! Chalk it up to what it really is greed and support a bad company or pass. I have a past with Wolverine so I'm getting it regardless

I'm hoping they are just preparing us for the $50 coupons to make it feel like we are getting a steal!

All this arguing is stupid. If you think the price is too high, just be patient. They'll be forced to discount it after stock sits around for months.

There's no gif or meme in the whole world wide web that could show how big of a face palm this statement is.

You consider them greedy and without the ability to create a quality product, but yet still, you are buying it?

It's like hating apple and everything they stand for but paying $1,000 for an iPhone 6s Plus because you enjoy big screens.

?!

Now everyone is complaining about everyone else's complaining. I refuse to add to this problem. Great job complaining, everyone! I love it!

Heyyy... is that a complaint?
You complaining about that?

Wolvie's like a grail for most people. He's popular enough to be many people's favourite.

My fav is Colossus, and I saw him in some new movie!
I can't wait for the ...

I don't suppose anyone can identify the wolves featured in Sideshow's Diorama photos on the Wolverine product page? They'd be a pretty cool addition to display with the figure, actually.
