I might be in the minority, but I got into these Marvel characters through the movies, not the comics. So it's hard to resist the movie versions when they are presented in the 1:4 scale PF line. I can pass on 12" figures and maquettes, but I have a weakness for PFs.
Wow, really? That rather surprises me. I figured folks that knew these characters read the comics, then went to see the flicks because of that familiarity with the stories and characters. I guess there's a whole other world out there that I knew nothing of. :lol

I really like the cape on Thor. I wish the first PF's cape was cloth. Looks good overall.

Destroyer though....WOW. That is really nice, IMO. I don't know if I'll PO it, but it's definitely something I'll keep an eye out for down the road.

Sweet Thor looks really good, will order this one for sure. I will pass on destroyer, too much $$$ for a character that I don't really like. Now I am pumped for Cap movie PF, hopefully it will be as good as this Thor movie PF.

:exactly: I wish the first PF was more like this one, mostly sculpted with a fabric cape. Then I wouldn't have sold it.
Whoa, whoa, WHOA! There's a whole other world out there?!? That's crazy talk! You're talking crazy! :panic: :panic: :panic:

;) :lol :lol
:lol I know. I'm shocked and awed too. Be careful out there, brother!

It's true. I corrected myself earlier, but I guess I should go back and edit my post so more folks don't chuck it back in my face. :lol

I don't think I could have named a single one of the X-Men before I saw the movie ten years ago. I never read comics or watched any of the animated TV shows featuring comic characters--the movies have always been my introduction to these characters. Film franchises like X-Men, Batman, Spider-Man, etc. have made boatloads of money because of their ability to bring in an audience without prior exposure to the comics. I'm sure that's not typical amongst collectors, but there are some out there like myself. (The one exception being Watchmen--I had read that one a few years before the movie came out.)

I might be alone in this, but I think this Thor PF looks better than the previously released comic version. It's probably heretical, but I prefer the movie costumes nine times out of ten.

I dig that all that. I assume I'm just like most folks around here that started reading comics as soon as they were old enough to talk their parents into buying them, sharing with friends or just watching the toons. For me though, I'd say perhaps one time out of ten for costume betterment in flicks. :)

I do agree though that the comic related Thor PF could have been far better with the proper design plan.

If it's any consolation you are not alone. If I was interested in 'guys wearing spandex' PF's I might prefer the comic-related Thor, but I don't...and I'll take movie-related Marvel PF's [including this awesome looking Thor] over comic-related PF's every time. :)

That is precisely why the majority of Marvel PFs should be comiquettes. :)

I'll take comic related over movie related most of the time with rare exceptions, just cos I grew up on comics.

I cannot argue with you on that point. :lecture

Understandable. Had I grown up on comics I'm sure I'd feel the same way. As it stands I've always been a huge movie buff so these movie-related collectibles are much more to my liking. :)
