Never understood the hate towards jar jar, what makes him so bad?
I admitt that he wasn't used well in the other 2 eps but i liked him in ep1.
Back on topic yeah that saber does look thick, the belt doesn't bother me though.
Can't wait till tuesday so i can seee him in hand.

Because he represents the poor attempts at humor in the PT.

Really jazzed for this figure now. After being so meh about it for ages.

:duff:

Just have to wait for her full review now.

Me too, just waiting for their review. Still on the fence on getting this one.

Hasbro Ep1, SSC Ep1. Ep2. Ep3, & Ep4:

I didn't realize that the Ep1 and 2 saber are almost identical. So I may just swap my ignited ep2 blade to Padawan Kenobi.

Ep1 and Ep2 are the same sabers..unless I'm missing something. :lol

From Wookiepedia:

"This lightsaber [EP2] was crafted almost exactly the same to the original, save for a few minor details (such as the blade power being controlled by a gold knob)."

That robe looks pretty good on Old Ben there, pix....

Appreciate the "saber comparison shot" there....I may use "Clone Wars" Kenobi's set for this one for display...I'll wait and see how the sabers coming with this one look "in hand"...but the blades are thick when compared to earlier versions....I plan on ultimately displaying this Padawan with his master, so consistency will probably win out here...

Had another look at the ROTS Kenobi(Sideshow's first Kenobi 1:6 scale figure) today....

I still like this figure...and looking at it (and the AOTC version) I can't for the life of me figure out why Sideshow went for the plastic, molded belt over what came before. The pleather one just looks better to me with it's detailing. Heck, there is even a shot in the "official" gallery on the product page for this new figure where the belt is falling down off his waist....oh well. It's either find one online somewhere, craft one myself or velcro tabs to the rescue. I'll see on Thursday when it arrives up here...

In the meantime, you west coast folks need to put up more pics (please!)....

I haven't been following this thread but just got this guy. I expected to come in here and read how incredible it is that we have this giant leap for 1/6 Star Wars with the ignited saber - but petty complaints about belts and boots seems to be the norm.

Ah well - I'M JAZZED ABOUT THE IGNITED SABER! I know that customizers have been doing it for a while - but a mass market 1/6 figure with an ignited blade is just too cool! It's as bright and nice looking as any PF or even the Cinemaquette.

I hope they go back and redo Jedi Luke, Qui-Gon, Maul, old Ben with ignited blades.

Just so this post won't seem TOO positive - his neck is too long...

How is it petty when it's a step down in quality?

It's not a giant leap for 1/6 Star Wars either. Medicom's already done it.

Seriously.

Indeed, the ignited saber is one of the main reasons why I bought it. I also like the excellent head sculpt.

Only complaint i have is the new blade design. I with they had kept the old design for the regular one so it would display better with older figures.

Does anyone know where to find this figure in Europe? Don't really want to buy from Sideshow paying high shipping costs and import taxes..

Yes this is one of SS best! I wish I could get a light up SS blade and new compound boots for him.

Gotta agree, the belt thing is not that cool and should have matched all the other jedi.
I like the boots, but if they engineered them without a universal joint, it seems like one step fwd and one back. Other than that and the neck, people seem to be highly favorable of this piece. Doesn't seem petty, imo. I think the same back and forth was said about HT Luke.

Although I agreed with this sentiment when Padawan was on PO, I have since then PO'd Yoda, who doesn't have this description anywhere...

Switch out hand with Light Up Light Saber (Battery Operated / Included)

which is weird, since his blade looks of similar thickness to Padawan Kenobi. So, if this is just a weird one off experiment...

Nobody buys Medicom though.
