Some are calling them "rubber knees." They aren't ratcheted, but they aren't the other, older knee joints either. They actually work pretty well IMO.

Yup. What he said. Think the only people mildly critical of the new knees are those who actually liked the ratchet ones. That being said, it's impossible to please everyone. Rubber knees are the better of the selected IMO too.

Never heard of rubber knee joints.. but I think that anything is better than those ratcheted knees..

It sucks when I try to bend an ultrahard ratcheted knee, and the knees and calves directly disconnects from the leg :monkey1

Btw,Just ordered Zartan and Thank you guys for responding so fast. :wink1:

The plastic in the knee joint is just really soft, so it feels like its bending when you move it, hence the "rubber knees". Its odd, but still, anything is better than those horrid ratchet knees.

Whether his phrasing was not to your liking I think quite a few people have already imporved Zartan with Body swaps and changes to his looks that favor the more iconic look, nothing wrong with that at all.

You're absolutely right. But I didn't take any jabs at his modding, and I have never made any jabs at anyone else's customizing / modding. I simply had an issue with him saying he was correcting "Sideshow's errors". I'm pretty sure a majority of the posters here would find no errors at all with Zartan.

:lecture:lecture:lecture While I don't think he came 100% perfect, I actually thought Sideshow's sleeveless "hoodie" was better than a towel over the head. I think a better way of looking at it is how would we have felt if the SSC figure had come like that? I wouldn't have been happy at all.

Dino,
I did say "Sideshow's errors", and you have every right to express your comment.
I should have not generalize my own opinion in my statement about this piece.

So if we can get pass this issue, I do have a question for all:
Can someone tell me why Sideshow changed Zartan's maroon colored hood that matched the pants from the prototype at SDCC to the now released red hood?

My speculation is that SS wanted to pay homage to the preproduction Zartan figure depicted on the 1984 G.I.Joe catolog.

It doesn't match in those pics either. :dunno

I wasn't trying to be right about anything, just pointing out that alot of people made tweaks already to make the character look much more iconic that people seemed to really enjoy.

I don't think it was for any reason other than it just happened. I'm sure disagreements happen on projects, but I really think the color issue was just a dropped ball.

The bottom line is, everyone sees a different need for interpretation. Some people seem to want a straight up 1985 Zartan, some want the iconic Zartan, but with updated gears, some people don't want updated gears... the great thing is, these aren't brass statues and thats one of the things that makes 1/6 offerings so fun, you got alot of people doing alot of different thing with every piece that comes out and helps enhance the flavor. I always just steal the ideas I like and move on. :yess:

Makes me really miss my old Zartan, he was always one of my tops after getting him. I have almost every figure from the 70s and 80s I ever owned, but for the life of me can't remember what happened to him.

The Master of Disguise should give you a clue. Mine was always creeping in the background of my battles, just up and lurked off into the shadows one day too.:dunno

Lol, you can't keep Zartan down. I'm kind of getting the Toy Story 3 vibe from him where he didn't want to be boxxed for the attic. :horror

I only lost 2 figures, the other one was a cobra trooper, The Enemy. I had him for all of about 2 hours when I decided that it would be cool to cast him over a limb in the front yard on a fishing line so he could 'fast rope'. I was six, he never came out of the tree and I still look at that tree sometimes like maybe I'll finally spot him.

Btw, I remember the first day I ever saw a GI Joe figure like it happened last week, can't believe its been that long ago, since I actually usually forget what I did last week. :rotfl
