The issue really is timing here.

These alternatives are absolutely fine but shouldn't be the priority. The priority should be getting regular Hermione done, and moving onto Dumbledore, Snape and other popular characters like Dobby, McGonagall and Hagrid.

If they released the Harry and Ron casual figures down the track when V1s are getting scarce, eBay prices go up and there is a general drought of the kid trio for new collectors, then there would be a wider audience, especially if they timed this with a casual Hermione, and made a Mirror and even a Knight chess piece and maybe a Quirrell; especially if they beat up the clothing to be accurate to the final scenes. I know I'd want the below on my shelf, just maybe not quite now when we still need other major characters.

Would you have preferred them in the "H" and "R" sweaters? Not being snarky, actually want to know.

Uh, what? I LOVE Ron Weasley. He's my second-favorite character in the whole series. I'd be thrilled to buy a casual clothes figure of Ron--provided he was, you know--from a different movie at least had a different head sculpt. But $180 for a new set of clothes for Ron? Man, Star Ace must think we're crazy.

It's not $180 - these will be under $100 - far fewer accessories. Also the reason no new head sculpt.

The first Ron and Harry are pretty much sold out, so that's why the timing.

The fact that these are coming out doesn't slow down development of original characters - Star Ace has quite a slate coming for HP, including other versions of the trio.

I much prefer the plaid shirt for Ron, as the Hogwarts Robes version of Ron already comes with the 'R' sweater anyway. For under $100, I'll take a casual Ron Weasley.

I can only assume we'll get a casual year one Hermione to complement these two as well, though?

The deluxe Hermione will be first. If she sells well enough there will be a casual Hermione to match the boys.

I like them how they are, and hearing they won't be the price of a normal release is great news. Can go back to getting the whole line now. :yess:

Thanks for the info Dave.

No, I like these releases. Like someone else said - Ron already has his sweater. This red jumper Harry is also the one at the Mirror of Erised, which is how I'm going to set him up.

I know what you're saying, Dave, about "Mass Market" reasons and all, but it still doesn't make it very fair for us serious collectors who are completely on board with Star Ace, supporting them right from the start and want every figure in the line.

HOWEVER, if they really are going to be under $100, then I think that's fantastic news. Really does make up for the releases being so soon and we can stand a chance at getting them all again.

That's a big "IF" though, especially for us UK collectors, as retailers here are greedy and mark up the prices a lot.

But, as far as Star Ace are concerened - they have always put on very, very good SRPs on their products, so hats off to them. They could easily have charged the same amount but they haven't. Also, I fully understand that Star Ace are in the business to make money.

MSRP is $99 and that will be well known - so if a dealer tries to mark them up substantially just buy from someone else.

Yeah, unfortunately retailers don't seem to care here. The main retailer I used has Harry on for £149 now ($232) which is just crazy.

I'm looking into alternative suppliers, as I want two of each for my collection.

Casual Harry? I can see original Harry going for that, but not the new one. Although I don't think most distributors know the SRP yet.

No, I mean the original Harry. They had him on for £129 (which I think is around MSRP?) to start with, then down to £109 with a special deal, now up to £149 which is above MSRP.

They haven't listed any of the casual line, but I'm not holding my breath for a good price.

Oh, and one retailer I talked to actually told me there was no way they were sticking at the MSRP because there wasn't enough profit in it for them. They'd rather sell less for more.

Usually a dealer agrees not to sell over 5% more than the SRP. But I guess some ignore it. Also depends if they're getting it from Star Ace direct or through a distributor like Sideshow or Big Chief.

Just a note that the cheaper casual Ron will not come with the sorting hat, but with the chessboard. (and his wand and Scabbers).
