I agree Riker lashing out at the end felt unprofessional and out of character at first, but we have to remember these two have been out of command for awhile and were thrust into an impossible situation against an all-powerful enemy with no clear way out. And plus by this point they clearly regard each other more like friends or brothers than as officers in Starfleet, and so aren't concerned as much with protocol.

In any case, this was a pretty fantastic episode with some of the most intense action we've seen in Trek in awhile. And that villain reveal at the end was freakin insane. I just wonder how all these different villains this season are supposed to fit together. Hopefully it's something better than just "All the TNG and DS9 villains decide to team up to destroy the Federation." Lol

out of character

Well, now that we know that a certain alien race is part of what seems like a Big Bad Anti Federation Alliance...

^forgot about that little bit

Maybe it was a ruse between Riker and Picard. There could have been a saboteur on the bridge for all they knew although I'm not sure what they'd think they'd be gaining at that particular point by acting out that way after the ship had been crippled....(unless it isn't?)

Ahh we'll find out next week.

Also that scene in the bar with Riker and Picard...
The de-aging there was wonderful!

The de-aging was ok, a wig for Riker and some smoothing of the lines.

He's been doing a great job all season, and was on Lex Luthor's podcast last month. He doesn't rate himself as much of an actor, something I disagree with. He put some great work into TNG.

I can't really see that being the case. And besides why would they draw so much attention to themselves with an outburst like that?

I'm not fully committed to the theory but not ruling it out completely. And is what could be a stress related emotional outburst more attention drawing than a literal bomb having gone off in the ship? :lol

For anyone conspiracy minded, it could be said Riker is acting a bit off. Like some of what he says; asking Jack to call him Captain which was weird or the thing with Deanna and their daughter being happy to have him away. It could just be the characterization, writing, or even intentional weirdness to make viewers speculate who might be a changeling or not.

Frakes directed that episode and I think he would've pushed back against the outburst as out of character for Riker and his relationship with Picard unless there was something else going on. Feels like a lot of people didn't really like it. Sure, it could just be for the sake of drama but we'll see.

I don't know how I'd feel about it, but I honestly would not be surprised if he got switched out at some point and the real Riker shows up later in the other outfit he's shown wearing in the trailers.

I think it’s possible.

From episode 1 when Picard and Riker first meet, there’s an individual who is watching them (who given what we know now is likely a changeling). They either intercepted the message from Crusher or were surveilling Picard for whatever reason. So perhaps they planted Riker at that point to keep close tabs on Picard.

We know from the trailers that another Federation ship show’s up so whose on that ship, maybe the real Riker shows up with LaForge in the different uniform as you’ve noted.

It would be a twist to say the least.

I barely like the first two seasons. Loved Luke returning. But yeah, Andor has given me back the feeling I had in that late 90s sweet spot when I was reading and playing Shadows of the Empire, the Special Edition trilogy was out, the air was filled with promise with Episode 1 around the corner…and Mando is the opposite of that.

It’s purely down to Filoni and Favreau. I love Favs but Filoni is bringing hyperspace whales in now…I am out until they improve.

I'm exactly the same. Andor captures that era of Star Wars, the OT and the EU stuff (Shadows of the Empire is a great example). That's all we had at the time, and it meant Star Wars had this amazing tone. Andor fits so well into that era of Star Wars.
It all changed from the PT onwards...

Interesting idea - liking it!

Looks good, I’m thinking LaForge makes his appearance this episode.

Episode 4…Well IMO you just don’t get more Trek than this episode. It’s like they took what’s best of all the old Treks wrapped it up into this show, and sprinkled some serial storytelling in to continue the overall plot of the season.

Has it all emotion, science, technobabble, and action. Classic Trek updated for the new century.

New episode on Amazon Prime tomorrow for the UK.
I'm looking forward to it, which is absolutely astonishing for a nuTrek show.

Incredible episode. Absolutely amazing. I'm soaking up every minute. Frakes is the MVP so far, he's really showing a deeper side to Riker, after 36 years thinking we had seen it all.
