Star Wars Chess Table!

I'll be happy to see a Sideshow 3PO, R2, or Chewie in conjunction with this table accessory, but in my heart I associate Chewie with the table the most. Maybe it's the lingering effect of Hasbro pairing him with the table in their 3 3/4" line, but when I picture the table, I picture Chewie leaning back with his arms behind his head.

I also hope they give us at least the main four ANH characters in Han Luke Leia and Obi-Wan before the year is out along with Chewie and the droids. That would make for the perfect year.

That would absolutely kill my bank account...ANH is my favorite movie of all time and I've been purposely keeping away from the 1/6 scale line until ANH figs were made...With the chess set, I've got my sights set towards Chewie and the Droids. No question about it...I can't wait for the PPO on this stuff!!:chew

I don't know if this is just worded strangely but this was posted on Reblescum's main page:

"Sideshow has made it official. The Dejarik Holochess Set will be available in the US exclusively through their site. Priority Pre-order is February 16th."

Makes it sound like a Site exclusive like the throne. I wonder if that is just a typo to mean the exclusive version, which is likely the monster taking the other monster out in that close up pic. If that does end up the exclusive, I'd like to have that trend in all other previews - reveal the exlusive item right away.

I can't believe that they would offer a set like this that is so tied to the droids and Chewie that we won't see all of them! I think by making this Sideshow is throwing down the gaunlet and pretty much guaranteeing us Chewie and droids pretty soon!

With Sideshow having trouble putting out an armored figure, I find it hard to believe they'd have a Chewie ready to go. I guess if it was sculpted maybe, but certainly not a furry Chewie. The droids are a better bet I think.

Sideshow has a steadfast policy never to confirm or deny the possibility of future releases. But this chess set is the closest thing we can get to official confirmation that they are working on Chewie and the Droids. This release would be absolutely pointless without those characters. They might not be coming up in the next two weeks, but they are definitely on the way.

Remember, they need to space out their awesome 30th Anniversary announcements between Toy Fair, Celebration IV, and San Diego Comic Con.

A chess set w/o Chewie would be like a thrown w/o Jabba! No point and I think it hints at something pretty great coming down the pipe. And I assume at the very least we'll see some droids shipping around the same time!

I don't think it stands to reason that the chess set definitely means that artoo/chewie/c3po are around the corner. This could be an environment pack that includes a training remote and, well... something else Falcon related. We've seen the creature packs and the Sith remotes, neither of which come with a main character.

They didn't come "with" main characters, but they weren't announced in a vacuum either. The Sith probes were an extension of Maul and Crumb and Bubo are extensions of Jabba. The chess set can only be an extension of...some pretty major characters already mentioned.

I don't think it stands to reason that the chess set definitely means that artoo/chewie/c3po are around the corner. But Dave, all the expansion packs have figures that relate to them. At this moment we have no figures that would relate to this expansion pack. I honestly do not see the sense in putting this pack out unless there was at least one figure comming out that was near that table while the game was being played.

I remember right before SDCC last year someone at SS gave us a word scramble for the next SW figure and it spelled out "such-and-such monkey lizard." People quickly realized that it was referring to Salacious Crumb and everybody said, "Could this *possibly* mean that they're considering a 1/6 scale Jabba????" Well, right now is the time to be asking "Does this mean they're going to produce a Millenium Falcon environment with Chewie and the Droids????" We know what the answer was with Jabba....

I could care less about the chess set or a Falcon enviroment. But if it means that the droids or Chewie are close, this is great news!!! I guess we'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out for sure.

I have to agree with the majority too, sorry Dave. The other expansion sets related heavily to other figures on the horizon, and this can only point towards other ANH figures, most notably Chewie, 3P0 and R2. I wouldn't be disappointed with farmboy Luke, Old Ben, or a training remote, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw this as a tease for Toyfair, with a major unveiling to show new body types with the wookie and the droids:chew
