Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I have to say I was really worried about what I was going to feel watching TLJ at home after months of heated discussions.

When the credits rolled at the end not only was it a huge sigh of relief that it held up BUT my jaw hit the ground that it actually got even better!

While I don't think it was necessarily the *best* choice per se I'm fine with Luke tossing the saber over his shoulder in silly fashion. It echoes Yoda being a goofball the first time Luke met him on Dagobah. If he was being silly during Rey's final scenes on Ach-To or when talking to Leia then yeah I would have taken issue. ;)

It can’t be this easy to crush every complaint that is brought up can it lol

Both of you do realize Yoda acting like a goofball was a test, right? He was testing Luke's patience. The minute he reveals who he is & Ben's ghost appears, he's not a goofball anymore but as serious as can be. It was a test to see how Luke reacted to and handled the situation with Yoda. "The boy has no patience" is what he say's to Obi-Wan in reference as to whether he should be trained.. Yoda doesn't want to make another mistake like Anakin. And Luke is way older and is now attached to his friends just as Anakin was.

So no, Yoda should not have reverted to his goofball antics. And he should have told Luke to be careful with Rey, as they don't need her being corrupted and joining Kylo. But since Rey is apparently the personification of the lighside of the force, she's impervious to temptation. Her test in the hole in the ground was laughable. Why would being a nobody turn her evil? She obviously had already come to terms with being left behind or she wouldv'e already been ill-natured and bitter from the get go. Like Killmonger in BP.

I refuse to believe that Jye is willing to be this blind. :lol

This is just making up things to justify the existence of a bad choice... Sorry Khev.. :)

As I said before.. Yoda had a reason to behave that way.. If this was supposed to be a Recall then character wise it still makes no sense.. Luke has no intention of training her. There is no testing.. No trying to get under her skin to see if she is ready to be trained.

I think it was more played as a joke.. The fact that they filmed it several ways backs that they went for the laugh rather then "oh it's just like Yoda" idea.. Talk about Fan theories ;)

Go back to the PT and the way it mirrored the PT. Guess that means the PT are brilliant now??

I think not. :lol

I agree..

Daisy Ridley is one of those cutsy girls next door that can also be sultry and sexy. Just like Natalie Portman & Keira Knightley. They can look plain, cute, and hot as hell all in the same day.

But for me the win is always Keira... :banana

Rian confirmed to be SJW type (or perhaps just to keep mama Kathleen happy):

”We need some directors who aren’t white dudes,” he said emphatically. “And [Kennedy] knows it, too. It just has to happen. I mean, come on. It has to happen”

I like that he says it after he’s made his movie and secured 3 more for himself - cut off the white dudes now! Maybe he can spread some of his around if he truly cares for their plight? :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

sigh

If SW doesn’t mean enough to you that you don’t immediately buy tickets for the first second you’re able to see it on the biggest screen possible then no offense Chakor but your opinion on SW is entirely irrelevant to me.

SW is life Chakor it’s not just a movie.

Bootleg.

Highly offensive lol

:lecture

I'm not offended by a little girl power in movies. Did you lose your **** when Kira sprouted wings in The Dark Crystal? ;)

Also when She-Ra came along she could do all kinds of crazy **** that He-Man could never do so I'm fine with gals upstaging guys as long as they look hot doing it. :D

There's been a lot of (too much even) shooting from the hip as to the how's and why's with this new trilogy and the reasoning for Rey's powers is one of them but eh, Daisy's likable in the role and her abilities don't offend me just because they make her "more powerful" than OT Luke or Jyn or whomever.

Not a valid comparison... The Dark Crystal did not have six movies that came before it..

And I don't care if it was a girl or boy.. It ignored what came before.. At this rate, in episode 9, she will be teleporting and bringing the lighting down on the full first order :lol

As for the He man comparison.. I just like the fact that you are now comparing TLJ to He Man :) That is just about right.

Its cool that you are OK with her having this powers with ease and ignoring all that came before.. I am just stating that it is more then a valid criticism.

Well Luke had a reason for behaving the way he did too. He was actively trying to discourage any upcoming apprentices from thinking that he was a "legend." It made sense as to why he'd want to do it and allowed for really funny moments like the milk drinking scene.

Ok That is a better answer then "It brings us back to Yoda"

I was just pointing out that It was a theory and not a fact... Which is fine but Jye ran with it :lol

What you just stated was much closer to what Johnson said. As he stated he felt it was the most logical thing for Luke to do.. I am Ok with that with the way he wrote the script.. I am not as Ok with the shock Joke..I don't hate it, it just does not play as well with repeat viewings. Throwing it away was never an issue to me.

yep, bingo!
Kennedy (White lafy) has her cushy job, talks about diversity, (but only hires white male directors) Joss whedon has his job, talks about diversity, they ALL talk about diversity but only hire from their own tribe. no outsiders. Lets brag about diversity but lets not hire outside our own alliance

Well ESB ignored Obi-Wan's explanation about what happened to Luke's father. I'm okay with continuity not being 100% consistent from film to film as long as they're done well. And since we can both agree that TLJ was done well I'd say that about wraps up the discussion. :rock

Khev has been spending so much time defending TLJ he forgot what was really going on in the OT ;) ;)

I Kid Khev... I kid :)

I don't mind Yoda being playful as I do believe it is part of his personality.. Yoda has a sense of Humor I believe.. He shows it in the PT when teaching the kids and he shows it in CW cartoon in an episode or two.. While it was a test on Luke in Empire I think he was having fun doing it.. But I am only guessing as it is a part of him we see in the other scenes I mentioned.

OR Yoda was just being playful because he knew "
Rey is apparently the personification of the lighside of the force, she's impervious to temptation.
" :lol

Who knows?? Certainly not Johnson :lol

We all need to save our ST energies for 9 which starts filming in a mere 3 months. :lol

Oh I can’t wait lol

But in a mere 10 days all eyes will be on IW. :panic:
