Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I've said this before but if they would do what they're doing and just shut up about it I don't think most people would bat an eyelid. It's the fact they specifically and deliberately call attention to it and expect praise that is the real problem IMO. At least half the people who react - who they would dismiss as right-wing - probably aren't right-wing at all - they're just ordinary people who are sick and tired of virtue-signalling, people sitting up on their high horses etc.

I don't think so. It's pretty heavy handed in the films. It derails the movie. As a leftist, I don't like how they think they have to butcher the men to make the women credible. It tells us a lot about their operative values. They are sexist who enjoy smelling each other's farts. Tone deaf Hollywood neoliberal elitists.

Yeah well these are a lot of the same people embracing McCarthyism, praising the CIA and the FBI, and aligning themselves with mass murderers and warmongers like Henry Kissinger and the likes of neocon Max Boot. Crazy times.

I do understand wanting MORE strong female characters.
Wonder woman was a great and wonderful strong character.

But to act like theres never been a good strong female character is so disrespectful. I dont even understand if jj and Kathleen understand how big the disrespect is when they speak about this issue.
I wasnt even joking when i said that if they cared about representing under represented people they should be focusing on adding lgtb characters.
Its perfectly fine to add more females and to have a jedis, but the way they talk about it is so disrespectful to every other female character before them

They really don’t get it. To have a strong female character she must also have flaws and challenges to overcome. Rey has no flaws or challenging task. She doesn’t make mistakes and she doesn’t work hard for what she gets. That’s poor writing. Writing your character as a flawless and super powerful being is boring and stupid. Even superman had flaws and weaknesses. Rey just is t interesting cause she doesn’t struggle or seem to fail at the tasks given to her. She just powers through them. That’s not how you write a good character imo.

so there are no gay or trans people in this universe? you got hairy dog giants and tiny frog like creatures and crystal cats and porgs and all kinds of nonsense....
but no gay or trans humans?
wtf bro.... how does a crystal cat needed to be in this story? or a squid rebel? or any of the nonsensical characters... but all of these different races of humans happen to be cisgender and straight?
JJ and Kennedy can go f themselves then. dont be talking about representation if you are not willing to represent the most unrepresented people in cinema.
this is absurd and you know it. you with a v for vendetta siggy should know better than that... dont forget about the roses...

Like I said , I think it’s fine, and it would be bother me.

But , these are suppose to be kids films about space fantasy. Just how can you put in a scene that will depict gay or LGBT relationship WITHOUT it feeling tacked on at this point?

I think the way the handles it in Star Trek was tastefully done and not to ham fisted....

Beauty and the Beast, it felt unneeded although it was subtle enough not to feel forced...(no pun intended)

I mean how do we even know we have not seen a relationship like this already?

There were a lot of different aliens piled on top each other at Jabbas palace....

The Sith Lord Kathleen Kennedy must be destroyed.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Bit of an over reaction wouldn’t you say?

I would be fine with a gay character...

I don’t think it’s really needed in this type of story.

But never bothers me either way.

Always felt this guy was gender fluid...

I just have no idea how a gay major character would play out dramatically - in practical, studio terms. Would they spend the time to build a love story over one or two films? Or just have something non-romantic/simple like a character with two Dads or two Moms?

Even with all the talk coming from the likes of KK or JJ I just can't imagine Disney developing this kind of big romantic "I love you/I know" moment in a new film with a gay context...

Even if they would, it won't make it to the overseas screenings.

That was one of the most cringe moments I've seen in a while at the cinema. Does anyone that actually liked the film say that kiss didn't feel forced and out of place?

Thats why I am saying that Poe saving and kissing Finn would not be as cringey and forced as Rose... we already knew Poe admired and liked finn from the first movie and they have bromance going on.

Vice Admiral Gender Studies gets her own peg warmer.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

^ stupidest looking Star Whores character for sure.
Even if counting comic books and animation.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Think about this. At the end of ESB, Luke was beaten both physically and mentally. Han was tortured and frozen and taken away. Vader was or wasn't Luke's father.
Would Luke become a Jedi? Our heroes were in peril and we were left with lots of questions.

What about our heroes in TLJ?
What do we have to look forward to regarding our favorite characters in Episode 9? What challenges and hurdles do they need to overcome, what danger are they in? What challenge and devastating loss and pain has Rey endured through?

Finn- ......nothing
Rose .....nothing...well maybe overcoming her crash injuries ( if any)
Poe - nothing really
Leia - figuring out how they will end her character, that's about it
Kylo - turning to the light side?
Rey - turning Kylo to the light side? becoming a Jedi?
Hux - turned into buffoon in TLJ , if I were Domhall Gleason I wouldn't even return.
Luke - ghost?
Phasma - dead
Snoke - dead
DJ - who cares?

Were there any other characters?
