Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I was just watching a video where the guy who said for IX to have an epic space battle it needs to be as good as ROTS opening battle :slap

Even if I agreed that the ROTS space battle was 'good' - and I don't - surely the Rogue One space battle has already surpassed it and is the new benchmark.

Some of you need to realize that despite its faults , ROTS is one of the best Star Wars films and the best PT movie.

It’s the only film in the PT to me that feels like Star Wars and should of been the only movie GL made. The mustafar fight is great

:lol I need to do no such thing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Well technically he's not wrong, lol.

I like the first 10 seconds of ROTS when they zoom past the Star Destroyer and dip into the battle but right after that it all goes downhill lol

Nothing of significance happens in that skirmish the ARC troopers do nothing and everything seperatist droid related is just horrible.

I prefer the space stuff from TFA/TLJ over ROTS.

I’ll say it again I have zero problems with fans hating the ST but as soon as they start using the PT to show what good SW can be like I immediately put them in the small bus category :lol

ironwez hurry up finish your breakfast you’re going to miss your bus lol

a-dev is more like it...

PT suck
ST suck
RO is great

The ROTS space battle and subsequent R2/battle droid slapstick is where it loses me :lol

My Picard says No video was a response to Prime Clone by the way. Didn't notice Khev had nipped in a post there.

I love the ST but dammit it's hard to let them be canon.

With "Solo" in mind which is a better bookend to Rio's dying words "Val was right kid, it's no good to die alone."

The ending of ROTJ vindicated every loss and trial that came before (including those suffered in new entries like RO and Solo.) How will Episode IX do the same?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I don't believe it will. A storyline of the Empire 2.0, Emperor Palpatine 2.0, Anakin Skywalker 2.0 and Luke Skywalker 2.0 just can't justify itself and what it has done to the original trilogy characters IMO. Money-grabbing fan-fiction I say.

Hrmphh.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

In a way it's like what you often say about having Arnold play a "good" Terminator after T2. You can accept it as a clever counterpoint to the first film *once* but when they get into reruns the concept loses it's luster.

With SW the OT gave us the good guys toppling the bad regime and the PT showed us the bad toppling the good (with good ultimately winning because of the reverse order of the narrative.) Yin and yang with each trilogy giving a unique take on the conflict (putting aside the PT's issues with filmmaking execution for a moment.) But now the ST is simultaneously undoing and copying what came before. It's easy to accept something like that when it's a full reboot (like multiple takes on Bruce Wayne's parents being murdered for instance) but when it's a continuation of the established narrative? Eh....

I hate to say it because in and of themselves I like TFA and TLJ but that's where they falter IMO.

Or to put it more eloquently: "Hrmphh," lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

:lol :lol

Did you Hrmphh KOTCS Indy...?

On one hand it seems unthinkable to not accept a SW movie with Hamill, Ford, and Fisher but on the other I've already done that with Sigourney Ripley (A:Res), Ford Indy (KOTCS), and tons of Arnold Terminator flicks, lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Yes I agree but to me OT cast in their prime >>>>>> everything else. :)

So yes for me the Holiday Special and Pigs in Space trumps the ST, lol.

Actually Pigs in Space and the ST might be on the same level. OT heroes "guest starring" in an otherwise unrelated property. The end result is fun and enjoyable and scratches the itch of wanting to see the big three reunited but not necessarily canon. Jury's still out until I see what they do with Episode IX though, lol.
