I'm saying it's confusing not disturbing, Chekov.
Star Wars specifically tapped into the counter cultural/intergenerational change angst ("I'm not my father" mood that was tearing through the Western world,) the wide embrace of Eastern spiritualism and the exploding self-empowerment movement, Cold War angst in terms of a mindless/militaristic global Empire, and even the 1970's obsessions with space (everyone thought we'd be living in huge spinning space stations in the 1970's) and robots.
"Those people are not in the norm and thus doesn't affect their country's culture."??? Ronald Reagan - the most powerful man in the world for eight years in that era called the Soviets the "Evil Empire" and consistently called the U.S. missile shield the "Star Wars" system. "Just because some people watch it, read it, eat it and wear it doesn't mean it has any cultural relevancy."? Right - the President of the U.S. uses the terminology on the global stage, but no it's just a logo on a t-shirt like Timberland.

It's funny that I think of Anton (iconic Russian) and you think of Pavel (played by American.)

And this is why :
Spock was every bit Nimoy's character as it was the writers, Nimoy even came up with the Vulcan neck pinch and salute, He also wanted Spock to die in WOK. If the people running SW now had any respect for Hamil, they should've consulted him on how he wanted his character handled.
