Lol when I told that one cry baby to make a positive thread I was joking. It?s so hilarious that people can?t debate anymore and start crying when u have a different opinion.

This thread is filled with discussions from both sides and it?s fun reading why people like and hate the movie . Having a negative ***** fest or a hug fest takes the fun out of everything

I'd agree with this 100% if any of us had actually seen the movie. I've purposely avoided the spoilers, so if people are hating on it based on those I can't comment one way or another. Come Thursday night I may be in here doing the same. :lol

Yeah the positivity thread is a pretty snowflakey thread title because there?s nothing more ridiculous than safe spaces due to unable to handle dissenting opinions, but seriously, who cares if they like it? Harassing them about it because you dislike it just as much demonstrates an inability to handle opinions that are different from your own. Do those who hate it loathe it that much to the point where you?re unable to stand the thought that someone else likes it?

My sentiments also. I?m not rooting for it to fail, but as I?ve said, I fully expect it to be flaming garbage and have zero expectations. But even if it is surprisingly good, it won?t salvage the overall ST being a mess.

Well as usual I think this thread misses the point entirely.

Its not snowflake, its a place to actully discuss the upcoming film without having to scroll though 8 pages of the same people bashing ST for years on end.

I get it totally. Its impossible to have a discussion about the actual film here. And actual discussion gets derailed 8 times an hour by repetitive ranting.

While I get a good laugh from folks here there are some folks who have enjoyed the ST and just would like to discuss it.

I hate the DC films, but I just do not sit in the DC film discussions to troll all day.

Is that so hard to understand? Perhaps the snowflakes are the people who cannot comprehend that some people want to talk about a property without non stop interruptions by folks....

You know what?

I DO hope it sucks. I hope it's the worst movie people have ever seen. I hope every single person that pays money to see this leaves the theater feeling a little sick with what they've just witnessed.

Yeah, yeah....I'm a monster. I'm the Grinch. So what? I'm just one random nerd on a message board. I'm insignificant.

But I'm not even going to pretend to be rooting for this movie. I would love nothing more than for the last half of this fandom to feel as betrayed and disgusted as I did after witnessing TFA and TLJ, and then we can all finally be on the same page.

Sour grapes? Yeah. So?

Cause it won't happen. As bad as I already KNOW this movie is, that makes no difference. Hearing John Williams songs while Ben Burtt's sound effects are matched up to action is a drug that some addicts need. They go in to a large dark room with strangers, and they get their fix, and they go "ahhhh.....that's Star Wars." Doesn't matter if it's good or bad....as long as it lights up those endorphins by repeating the music cues and pew pews and the VVvvvvvNNNN noises they need, they nod off happily.

This movie will still make $1.5 billion regardless of my petty feelings.

I mean we haven?t seen it but given the way TLJ was handled people have low expectations

Do you really think that posting in that other thread is limited to those who are so timid that they "can't handle" opposing opinions?

Yes, when the intent of its creation is to surround yourself with likeminded opinions free of criticism.

I agree with just about everything you've said, my only caveat being that I wish the haters would at least wait until the movie was out before trashing it. And if they're not going to see it (as many have claimed), why do they feel the need to share that here? They should stick to the TFA and TLJ threads, as those are the films that they've found so offensive and are at the root of their discontent. Also, the ST isn't a trilogy until we see the 3rd film. Once it's out, we can have a nice, lively debate about the quality of this installment and the ST as a whole. Right now I think TROS will need to pull off a Doug Flutie style Hail Mary for me to give a thumbs up to the complete ST, but you never know...

Agreed. Sometimes I wonder if some of these people have already seen the film by the way they say they know it sucks. Like I said, I’m no fan of the ST thus far as the next person, but I think some of these people really do need to get a grip.

How are they interrupting by posting in a public forum? It’s not an interruption just because it’s an opinion you don’t like.

Heres the thing Oto.....

Your free to so what you will. But its weird how much time people take to post constant negative stuff.

Try to imagine it this way. Imagine someone from the outside, Joining SSF to bash on people who collect action figures and movie memorabilia. They post non stop every day bashing the thing the forum was created for. Or imagine a Marvel fan who spends all his time on the SW thread bashing SW and saying how much better Marvel films are.

Its weird, and it does go against the purpose of the thread. Its not a simple dissenting opinion, its a relentless attack on a group of people who are trying to discuss a property. Its distracting and clogs a thread with stuff that really not related to the film.

I would support a ST discussion thread that could support this type of discussion, but to clog the ROS thread with comments bashing a film no one bash seem is pointless.

How can you have an opinion on a film no one has seen?

Again, make a ST thread where people can talk about the ST in general then?

Its more like clogging up a thread with tired old retreads about the ST we have all heard before.

Agreed. But I think most people here are talking about the ST in general, not the film. Hence, why the alternate discussion thread has ST in the title, not TRoS. Like you said, I presume nobody here has seen TRoS yet, so you can’t have a negative or positive opinion on something you haven’t seen.

How many times have you “clogged” the thread with complaints about how people are discussing the ST?
Yet you’re welcome to continue. You don’t have to justify the point of your posts.

Well that wouldn't be that weird, would it? I would hope that an obvious troll that hates action figures would be weeded out fairly quickly by users and moderators.

I'm a lifelong SW fan since I first saw the movie almost 40 years ago. If you read my posts in The Mandalorian thread I've been ecstatic because there's finally a SW release that lives up to the spirit of the OT. It's easily the best thing I've seen in years.

I also happen to despise the DT for what it did to the movies I loved as a child, and still do.

Expressing my displeasure with movies takes the same amount of time as expressing how much I'm enjoying something and I do both. Why is one considered a "positive" thing and the other a "waste of time?"

If there were better movies and TV shows being produced, I'd have a lot more positive things to say, but these are dark times for innovative, groundbreaking movies. The studios just seem to want to churn out a dumber movie than the last dumb movie. Cause it's making them money. People are sending the message that they like dumb loud colorful movies that are easy to understand. I don't. So I send the message by not spending my money. But I'm just one guy. They'll never notice the missing revenue from one person.

Fair enough....

And I feel your pain. I felt it with the PT. Thing is, I could waste energy and effort in the PT thread repeating my objections to those films, I just don?t.

We all know how you feel about the ST brother.

I just wonder if constantly repeat posting about your distaste of the new franchise is the point of this thread about the upcoming film?

I don't know man.

All I know is, this negativity is bottled up inside me.

Better out than in, they say. So I let it out. And I feel better.

Save the things you love man. Let go of the hate!

Wwwwellll...I think there's been sensible discussion these last few pages in response to the new thread. Opposing points of view, yes, but well expressed on both sides if I may adhere myself firmly to this fence right here. Good stuff guys :duff

Personally, no problem with the other thread. 'Sure ***k it' as we say in Ireland. You said you were joking when you suggested it but maybe it's not such a bad idea really when it's a subject that creates such differing points of view. Star Wars is a thing that does that, and arguably has done since 1983.

We are pretty negative in here. Perhaps it will be fine for us to continue to be so if we're that way inclined as long as there's an escape from it in another thread. Lets see how it works out.
I went though and read most people's responses to the other thread and I didn't think there'd be so much outrage lol. It wasn't meant to slight anyone who doesn't like the ST or shelter people from opposing views, just provide a fun place (keyword being fun) for people who are genuinely excited about the film with each new tv spot and video that is released.

Because at the end of the day, we all love Star Wars and that is why we are on a forum for very niche figures. I wanted the other thread to be more as a hype thread, but oh well.

And I'm not sure how that no permission to post thing happened either.. that was odd.
