I love rots but I def understand why people hate it. And the dialogue is horrendous
Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
If this were Facebook you would be the Winklevoss twins and KerotanFrog is apparently Zuckerberg
Must be a Millennial thing. They have not been raised to deal with criticism well and it certainly shows.
I believe you can learn as much from negativity as you can from positivity. And in most cases it tells you much more about the speaker than it does about the content.
I?m a fan of RotS, easily my favorite of the PT.
The best thing I can say about ROTS is it meant you didn't need to watch TPM and AOTC to get "the story of guy who became Vader" thing - if you needed that story I mean.
It?s the only film of the PT that I really consider pertinent. Already starting Anakin off as a Jedi Knight is fine with me. I personally didn?t really need to see his background as a 9-year-old slave and him during his Padawan years. Based on the story Obi-Wan told Luke in the OT, RotS alone covered his background just fine.
To me, the only point the first two episodes served in terms of tying into the OT was the whole ?chosen one? aspect, and him fulfilling that prophecy at the end of RotJ by killing Palps. However, Padme saying at the end of RotS ?there?s still good in him? and Vader/Anakin not willing to watch his son be killed, was enough reason for me for why he dispatched Palps. Didn?t need the whole ?chosen one? aspect.
As opposed to all these other spin-offs, I?ve always been a proponent of seeing another film that features Hayden and Ewan (while they?re both still young enough to do it) reprising their roles as Anakin and Obi-Wan respectively, that focuses solely on their exploits and takes place right before RotS. Essentially a real time version of TCW cartoon series. The film would focus solely on them, so you wouldn?t need Portman in it (thankfully).
As I mentioned a few posts back, I liked the way they were portrayed and I think it?d be interesting to see what they can do in the roles when given the chance again, when it focuses on them just being Jedi Knights without all the extraneous drama.
Live action CW....
Yeaaaaah I like that idea alot.

Well I mean not exactly a live action TCW, it just focuses on a specific time point. But yes, I do like that idea better than showing me Solo?s backstory, or bringing Emperor back because you didn?t know what to do with Snoke, completely diminishing what Vader did in RotJ.
I was not being sarcastic....I DO like that idea.

I was watching the movies on TNT today and there was an aspect about Vader established very early on that just disappears later. I think Lucas needs to retcon. I can hear it now:
ANH: Vader seeing Luke and the gang escape the Death Star -- Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
ANH: Vader's ship is hit out of the trench and sent spinning into space -- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ESB: Vader enters the ice hanger just as the Millennial Falcon jets away in escape -- Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!
ESB: Vader watching Luke fall from the gantry -- Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
ESB: Lando at the wheel, with assist from R2, jump into hyperspace as Vader watches -- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Rogue One: Vader watches the Tantive IV jet away with the stolen plans -- No-No-Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
Finally, Vader is a cohesive character.
This really should go in the Positivity Thread
Sort if related - I actively seek out positive TLJ analysis because even now I would prefer to like the movie. So I don?t go into those dens looking fir trouble.
My problem is that my problems with it are less to do with the general themes, which supporters seem to celebrate, and more to do with the character motivations, plot management and contrivances, which fans tend to dismiss.
That reminds me, how do you explain the FO not being able to catch the Resistance fleet, but Finn and Rose being able to fly across the galaxy and back, attempting a mission along the way?
