Don't think too hard, TROS fanpersons!

Well, several of my SW buddies didn't like the movie because there's this sense that what happened in TROS - where Palps needs a body (Rey) to possess - also happened in the throne room in ROTJ. But they were saying - and I agreed (I have to re-watch ROTJ) - that wasn't what was happening between Palps and Luke in those scenes. That nothing about what Palps says or does there (such as mocking-laughing as Vader blocks Luke's first saber blow at Palps) indicates Palps was literally trying to make Luke kill him to then take over his body.

STAR WARS - SKYWALKER SAGA - EPILOGUE

LUKE wakes up next to LEIA and HAN.

"I had the strangest dream."

Merry Christmas!

Are you inferring a tryad, also known as a "thricesome" in SW lore, was responsible for the creation of the Rey and Kylo twins?:horror:lol

A Devil's Triangle.

Pablo Hidlago apparently just announced on Twitter that Rey's father's name is Scott.

Scott Palpatine will be played in flashback by Seth Green in an upcoming Disney+ SW series!

The Force Is A Pathway To Acts Some Consider To Be... Unnatural.:lol

In my head-canon now, Palpatine was influencing Luke when he was creeping in Ben's tent that night. Luke wouldn't suspect Palpatine but Palpatine would know exactly how to play on Luke's fears.

Unsubverted.

If I turn our brain on,
1-That tow cable thing works only ATATs walk in a certain speed. With the speed depicted in the movie, they would have been just unable to move, not stumble.
2-They don't need to run through blockade, they could have simply travel to the otherside of planet and escape.
3- I know empire sends thousands of probe droids across galaxy, so probe droid arriving on Hoth is acceptable, but what's the probability it lands near rebel base on a planet.
4-How did Luke survive the fall? And how on earth he stopped exactly on the shaft door which will open.
5-How can Luke whose training is nothing compared to Vader's 30-40 years of Jedi and Sith training can hit him on the shoulder with his saber?

In short, I am sure there are many near perfect movies and you can't name all of them. But regarding SW you could just name ESB which is not perfect at all. For rest, you accept we need to turn our brains off. So, needing to turn our brains off to watch TROS does only show it's a movie like thousands before it.

I don't remember fans bashing Nolan for he did not show how Batman escaped The Bat in TDKR or question Lucius Fox why was he unaware of an escape pod in The Bat which he or his team designed.

Did Lando say Luke was looking for Palpatine specifically, or was he looking for the Sith stronghold (basically their version of the Jedi Temple)? I thought it was the latter.

A while back someone found it unbelievable that Rey could find the dagger so quickly whereas Luke was unsuccessful. Well, Luke would probably be wise enough to avoid walking straight into quicksand / the sinking fields. I guess sometimes it?s better to be lucky than smart. lol

Except among other things it's stuff like that that had me staring blankly at the screen WTF. Rey specifically tells BB-8 in TFA to stay out the sinking sands to the North. E.g. she lived out in a barren environment so she'd KNOW stuff, like what to look for. I mean, I know where I live u get [vicious]stinging nettles growing along river banks. If I go to another state I don't just assume (since I'm on vacation and tourists think nothing bad can happen:cool:) this other state doesn't have them. WTF. Even the dirt was a different color....ok, maybe that's too nature geek, but...:banghead

My wife and nephew and I watched it Saturday night. The movie moves at a breakneck pace which is nice after last jedi. I like some aspects of the movie but overall it's a bad star wars movie. If Luke was searching for Palpatine with Lando he wouldn't have exiled himself. Even if he did why didn't Lando tell anybody that Luke believed Palpatine was alive. The dagger is stupid as whatever wreckage of the death star would have shifted after 30 years on the planet with all of the huge tidal waves. The Force is too powerful now on both sides. I did like a lot of what was presented but a lot of it is pure head scratcher. I lump this trilogy as pure fan fiction that is beautifully shot but has no heart and soul. Kinda vapid like a super model. Don't hate this movie but don't love it either.

I actually like my favorite shots in TFA and TLJ better as I think there was more time to breath. Agree the Force is getting overpowered e.g. ur gonna run into the overpowered Captain Marvel problem, if there's future films. Don't always bother with critics but some I've read pretty much dovetail with my own feeling of this being massive spectacle crowdpleaser, but not one I personally need to rush back to see. LOL studios love Abrams 'coz he safely delivers.

But, cheers to those who love it and feel satisfied and goin' for rewatches.:duff After watching "The People VS George Lucas" on Amazon Prime - which predates the ST, apparently - ultimately waaaaaayyyyy back Lucas created a universe. I thought about a world where Star Wars had never happened and can't imagine.

I?m not sure you have the high ground on that one buddy. :lol

Merry Christmas! :duff

And Merry Christmas Snikt, wherever or whoever you are!

I always have the high ground. It?s jedi 101. And merry Christmas! And I?m sure he?s fine. At the gym fighting black guys

Merry Christmas everyone!! :rock

Haha, sorry - I edited in a bit about too many face-offs/duels then deleted it for later (so much to discuss) - but cut that as well.:slap
(since the "migration" I have noticed the interface just doesn't work well for juggling stuff - kind of a mess)

But yeah, I was saying there that you helped me make peace with TLJ.:duff Even if that "wrecked x-wing" on Ach-to wasn't so wrecked after all.:rotfl I wonder what RJ thought of that part (though I pointed out that the FX work seemed to revise that x-wing to look less wrecked than the artwork initially showed, so maybe RJ had a hand in making it "ambiguous" anyway.)

Did you take a look at that Hollywood Reporter run-down on Exogol/Palps? It's super in-depth - a weird article for the HR.

I skimmed it but went back and perused it again just now. I agree with most except I prefer that the Master Sith takes control of the apprentice who murders him. That makes more sense to me and allows Palpatine to be the supreme original evil instead of just one Sith in a long line of generational murder/possessions.

But holy crap that article did suggest something I hadn't thought of and that is that Vader blocking Luke's saber in ROTJ now plays as if he was saving *Luke's* soul, not Palpatine. :panic: :thud:

Also, re: your daughter (not even sure where you posted that - I've only just caught up,) my 14 yo daughter is pretty much a carbon copy of that - in every detail.:lol

:lol Teenagers, sigh. ;)

I guess they had no other "closing moment" for Lando but didn't want to shoot anything new, so kept it, but it comes across as weird.

Even though, yeah I did have a major rush seeing BDW revealed in that big Jawa caterpillar thing. I just loved Lando in 1980, and I'm building a custom Lando Skiff right now

Nice!

I'm fine with recontextualizing that scene since the Saga has asked us to do that about prior films for decades. Nothing about the conversation in Ben's hut suggests in any way that Anakin and Vader were one and the same and nothing about Yoda's "no, there is another" line in ESB in any way suggests (or even allows really) that it could be Leia.

Yep I'm totally fine with that now considering Palpatine's involvement and Ben's ultimate arc.

I'm cool with Luke's exile now too considering it was turned into Rey's final teaching moment from a teacher who knew exactly how she felt. We now officially have his missing "third lesson." ;)

Now TLJ's only issue is why he didn't show up in person on Crait and I would lean toward he either really did think that Ben Solo was redeemable and didn't want it to be a physical fight where either he or Ben could die in combat or that it would have taken several hours to arrive by X-Wing and at that point there just wasn't time so projection was the way to go.

:duff

Bummer that TROS didn't deliver for you though (overall anyway.)

I did enjoy a lot of it though. The story needed to breathe more to me. If the plan was always to bring back Palpatine and Abrams had done all 3 I would have enjoyed it more for sure. Like I said I didn't hate it but it felt like the script was too faced paced to fix last jedi's failings. I am glad so many people got to enjoy it though after the division from the last jedi. I will watch it again soon and see if it improves for me. Either way not a bad movie but like most entertainment nowadays in 2 months most may not remember.
