It took 3 drunk viewings of TROS to arrive here.
Here meaning honesty to one self.
How does a movie that has THREE maybe even FOUR of my top 10 moments and my 2nd favorite lightsaber battle in all of SW.....
BORE ME TO DEATH, HOW!
Here i?ll tell you how.
Throw in a ton of secondary characters and scenarios that I don?t care about and if anything TROS was the worst offender of the 3 when it came to horribly stale secondary characters and set pieces.
TLJ might?ve had the slowest vehicle chase in history but TROS is the fastest moving bore fest in all of SW!
OMG...
Lightspeed jumping, Pasana party, C3PO memory reboot mission, snake healing, finding the dagger, resistance planet, final space battle and defeating Palpatine....
THE FINAL SPACE BATTLE and DEFEATING the MAIN VILLAIN for crying out loud were either freaking painful or boring to watch a 3rd time.
I honestly didn?t care for one single non primary character moment in this movie.
Lando had one good moment that was it his on your left and laugh when he brought the fleet I loved it.
But otherwise he was really pointless.
It was embarrassing seeing Wedge in this lol
D-O hands down worst droid in all of SW!
He is the broom boy of droids!
Zorii and Babu was a freaking waste of screen time lol
I do have new insight into some stuff but I need to remember what they were first lol

What does this mean for the overall ST since a lot was riding on this movie for me.
Well the obvious.
Since TROS failed for me then it can only mean that the entire ST has failed for me.
TFA/TLJ can?t escape this outcome they have to go down with the ship.
I loved Daisy and Adam in all 3 movies they were great and gave it their all especially an unknown like Daisy.
Each of the 3 movies have SPECTACULAR moments for me.
But I knew I was in trouble when the opening crawl for the final movie in the trilogy is stating that REY IS NOW TRAINING lol WUT!
Holy crap does this movie have 3 super amazing and powerful moments!
Holy crap was this movie difficult to sit thru again!
Why would I ever want to relive the ST ever again if i?m just going to be bored out of my mind during the grand finale when the main freaking villain of the entire 9 film saga is immediately killed by simply crossing 2 lightsabers together...sigh.

Now imagine if Disney had let JJ release his initial three hour cut that had more Big Nose Lesbian couple at the beginning and Finn using the Force to open a hatch on the Star Destroyer at the end (no joke, supposedly Disney made him delete both scenes, lol.)

Yeah I'm glad they kept it as him having gut feelings and nothing more.
Supposedly the lightspeed skipping originally had them going to Kamino, Kashyyyk, and Naboo as well but that would have been too much. Randomly hitting almost every major PT planet would have been too much like a "Star Tours" ride.

That?s a great question lol
You are asking why I needed 3 viewings to make up my mind, right.
3 reasons:
1. I didn?t prejudge the movie so it takes time to absorb.
2. There are still elements that I highly enjoyed some of my favorite moments in all of SW are in each of the ST movies.
3. Commitments with others for viewing.

So according to the leaks JJ turned in a 3 hr 2 min cut and then Disney said make it shorter. So then his "final" cut was 2 hrs 37 minutes and then Disney surprised him by premiering the 2 hr 22 minute cut that he didn't approve or apparently have any part in. While both the longer versions sound like they had some truly awful scenes I've got to wonder how much of the space battle got the axe as well when Disney was trimming that run time.
Also if it is indeed true that even the mighty JJ Abrams had the film taken away from him at the end I absolutely can't imagine any top tier directors ever saying yes to a SW film from here on out ever again.
