“I really can’t think of a single important scene where you get any sense that Johnson understands how to use imagery to add power to the film’s generally underwhelming events.”

Even some folks who hated tlj acknowledged the kamikaze looked awesome. :dunno

Poorly written wank piece. Folks in these threads have critiqued it much more efectively.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Oh look another reviewer pissed off that Rian didn’t give him what he had meticulously built up in his mind for these characters after TFA going so far as to compare it to the Aliens/Alien3 character direction changes.

Yawn lol

But i’m happy to see that Snikt found work at Forbes. :lol

I take it your wife veto'd last minute tickets to Ready Player One last night? ;)

Why I left the BP thread I didn’t want RPO spoiled lol

Crows warned me of spoilers being dropped.

Fair enough i’m not upset spoilers can be dropped post release.

Can't wait to read the next article claiming that TLJ sucked because it showcased the worst acting performances of Hamill and Fisher's careers, lol.

My dad only watches SW because my mom and I make him.

Well, he can't tell the difference between a close-up and a baby shower; yet even he could acknowledge that scene was pretty damn. It's like some knowledge was blessed to him after that scene because he was saying how incredible it was aesthetically.

Because it didn’t? Those two were the shiny lights in a sea of used Bacta fluid.

Rory why so bitter.

TLJ filmed on your beautiful land helped support the economy and your line of work Luke Skywalker himself Mark Hamill guest of honor there during St Pats last month.

Does SW look so old ugly and tired to your eyes.

I even watch the PT now with my son and smile that took some work i’ll admit lol

Too exhausting to hate SW ever damn second.

The PTSD must be extremely difficult to deal with lol

Someone bashing TLJ when they think I'm not looking:

"Put Chakor on board," lol.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Hamill was so vocal and disgruntled with TLJ in the beginning. But then he was silenced and saw the light and the error of his spoken words....

Wonder how many others will eventually see the light down the road after multiple viewings at home and not on a SW high.

If only Carrie was still with us. I would've loved to hear from her with her own take on Space Leia and the rest. She never got to see the final film. She truly had no filter and in no way would've been silenced into realizing she made an error on being outspoken. Part of why everyone loved her, she didn't hold anything back.

A lot of good points in that Forbes article. But there is no point in rehashing in this thread as to why it's a bad film no matter what the source or the persons credibility. The same several Starkateers will come to the rescue and defense of this pile of steaming poo. At this point if Disney, Kennedy or Johnson themselves came forward with an admittance and apology, it still would be offending... Even Lucas' own polite dissing of the film seems to carry no weight, as we'd just get reminded of his own PT. "It was beautifully made". Such glowing praise.

Long Live Star Wars, may Kennedy's reign stay supreme... :(

I actually met Hamill at the Paddies Day Parade. The poor man was frozen to the bone.
I think he is ****ing awesome. And I think his acting is TLJ is fantastic as well. And I loved some of Carrie's scenes. I would never have dreamed a few years back that Fisher could play Leia again with any dignity.
But she did.

I watched TLJ again last night. There are parts of the film I find highly engaging. But holy ****ing christ, a lot of the movie is a shambles.

Here's the thing. I don't 'hate' TLJ, I don't 'hate' any movie. It's too strong a word for a piece of entertainment.
But what I do hate are the views of anyone who disliked the movie or are critical of it being subjugated and dismissed as 'fans with issues' or 'fans who can't accept change' 'fans who are sexist'... yada yada.

I actually think that Forbes review hit a lot of points on the head (for non fans of TLJ).

And just for the record I find it more exhausting to not like SW every damn second. As it's one of the only decent escapist film franchises left.
And it means a lot to a lot of people. I *tried* desperately to like the movie. I went to the theatre 4 times, bought the 4k blu-ray and nope.. I find it's still a very badly made cringe worthy and dull film.

You know, what's odd is that, as much as I disliked TLJ, I actually gave it a higher score than TFA and RO. Both of those two movies were tedious borefests to me and both got a 3/10 tops (I gave both a 6/10 on my first viewings but they got worse with repeat viewings). TLJ got a 4/10 because it had Kylo, the porgs, crystal foxes, and Hamill (whose performance was fine despite the odd character decisions). Still, all three are turds in my book.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Don't even bother arguing with him. I've tried. It's a lost cause. :lol

He's more Disney Wars now than Star Wars

image.jpeg

Only joking Khev but it's getting close. After all, you only acknowledge 3 of George Lucas' Star Wars movies together with all 3 of Disney's Star Wars movies ... Solo could tip the balance (I secretly think that Solo looks like a fun space western but I'm torn because I need to boycott it show support for my TLJ hating brethren #haterproblems).

"So, what of the villagers who rate the PT above the ST?"

"Ban them all."

*karamazov doesn't ban anyone*

"karamazov80 report to my division at once. And who told you you could praise Deadpool?"

"Yes Adoptedscot. I'm sorry Adoptedscot."

It’s all good part of me is just pulling your leg anyways you know how I am by now lol

Actually I know RO is the highly respected go to modern SW movie but for me RO actually suffered from worse character problems than what is being described about TLJ.

I enjoy RO quite a bit because of that absolutely mind blowing 3rd act and K2SO (plus bringing back Vader/Tarkin/Leia certainly didn’t hurt) but had it not been for those items that movie would’ve been in some serious trouble for me.

I think Solo narrative has an easier job than RO because we’re at least familiar with Solo and Lando where RO stumbled with fleshing out all of those new characters.

That RO 3rd act though is some of the best SW ever created it can easily stand proud with the best the OT has to offer.

TLJ Holdo suicide and Luke are up there for me as well BUT i’ll fully admit that RO 3rd act is superior SW to anything not Luke related in TLJ.

Damn you met Hamill you lucky fauker you.

Chakor you are way too young to be critiquing SW shouldn’t you be playing Fortnite with my son lol

After the PT I was kicked out of the SW basher's club for having a mind of my own. ;)
