Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I guess it can all be boiled down to not being able to empathize with each other's opinions.

I live in Japan. Japanese people love, and I mean LOVE, a lot of food that I find repulsive on a molecular level. They love weird, rubbery/crunchy textures like boiled chicken cartilage and all manners of octopus and squid in various states of being raw or cooked.

Some things were so bad it was a struggle to not actually puke at the table in front of them, George Bush Sr style.

But it goes both ways. I found root beer at an import store here. I let my Japanese friends try it and they all gagged...."Ughh...it tastes like medicine....it's disgusting!" I thought they were nuts...who the hell doesn't love root beer?

So when I saw this....product....I was so disgusted, it just hit me right to the core. I can't imagine any sane rational human being not being repulsed by this monstrosity.

So when Khev says he not only wasn't repulsed, but he actually LIKED it?? My brain just can't compute you know? But I guess that's all it is. He liked it, I didn't. Some things are just not universal.

But for real....does anyone here think root beer is gross? It's delicious and refreshing!

Were you born there? If not how the hell are you living there? Married a native? Teaching English? I would move there in a heartbeat if they would take my profession ...

English teacher. Have dated several natives but none of them would marry me cause English teachers don't make squat here. But it's still worth it for me to live here. I'd rather be happy and free than be a slave to a job I hate and have money I have no time to spend.

Well said. Always do something you love

Large % of bottled water has tiny almost invisible to the eye shards of plastic floating in the water byproduct from the factory machinery. :lol

I sinfully and angrily pounded my wife lastnight in her exit hole with JL playing in the background.

I know I know you don’t want to hear horribly disgusting things of that manner I should’ve never brought up JL.

You have a point fries are brutally bad for you.

But those soft drinks are pure poison.

The movie Logan made a good point about keeping an entire generation of people poisoned with imbedded chemicals in the general food chain.

What’s crazy is that even many foods we consider to be “healthy” has chemicals.

But here’s the thing that makes soft drinks stand out amongst the others as the worst offender.

They’re not hiding the chemicals or it’s not a byproduct of the manufacturing what’s poisonous for you is 100% front and center as the main ingredient of the product like wtf!

It’s the same as a cigarette that’s insane lol

Did you just bring up Logan?

Tie him down? Snikt’s inside him! Get me a bible!

QFT. TLJ has disrupted part of my lifestyle going back to the 1980s. Now there's this gap and I don't know what to fill it with.

Normally I'd laugh but what you say is actually very true for many people around the world Vault Boy, after all Star Wars is way more tangible and has a better message of peace than most major fa...ndoms. :monkey3

It’s just a movie... Spider-Man 3 disappointed me so bad and I was hyped for that movie. Eventually life goes on. You hate it, it sticks with you but then something better comes along. In Spider-Man’s case it took 11 more yrs til we got a better rendition but yea.

The Spider Man movies aren't canon. Nor is any other Marvel film. Suicide Squad didn't ruin the Joker because that's not the Joker.

The reason for this is so simple silly .........

Rey is INVINCIBLE!! the Lord Kennedy has spoken, her will is indisputable

But seriously, Snoke's praetorian guards were so scared of Rey's awesomeness in being one with the Force, that he simply panicked and dropped his weapon which cant be seen on camera as it happened behind Reys back. :D

They didn’t ruin the Joker because we have a zillion other portrayals and stories to read from.

Is Star Wars was ruined for you by one film, I suggest diving into the older comics and novels.....

Great review of the 4K Blu-ray release by Forbes - well worth a read:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnar...u-ray-review-luke-back-in-anger/#21e5e95e778e

"I guess I’m probably going to get crucified for saying this. But for me… Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a terrible film.

I’m not talking here, I hasten to add, about any of the thematic stuff that’s caused so much debate in the Star Wars fanverse. I’ll leave those debates to the Star Wars forums. What I’m talking about is just how bad The Last Jedi is as an exercise in film-making.

The story is a total mess, for starters. It’s packed with narrative holes and leaden dialogue, and the whole enterprise is hopelessly trapped inside a tortuous series of incompatible timelines that stretch credibility well beyond anything that even setting the story in a galaxy far, far away can excuse. The film’s tone is all over the place, too, switching horribly awkwardly between (usually painfully lame) humor, serious ‘Force stuff’ and lots of people dying without even trying to establish any sort of context for its changing moods.

Dull, messy scripts can sometimes be rescued by great direction. But sadly, despite his enjoyable efforts with Looper, writer/director Rian Johnson consistently fluffs the job of filming his own words.

Tense scenes fail to build tension. Dramatic scenes deliver no drama. Emotionally charged scenes lack emotional charge. Fight scenes look horribly stilted and leaden. Jokes generally feel so labored or are delivered so abruptly that they feel more like a slap in the face than something that might actually make you laugh.

I really can’t think of a single important scene where you get any sense that Johnson understands how to use imagery to add power to the film’s generally underwhelming events.

The Last Jedi's many filmmaking fails left me with almost nothing I could latch on to in order to become immersed in the action, leaving me desperate for the whole dull mess to come to an end at least an hour before it did. And once the criminally drab conclusion was finally reached, I couldn’t help but find myself comparing The Last Jedi with Alien 3 in terms of its franchise-crushing awfulness. I’m not saying The Last Jedi has necessarily got me thinking it’s time to call time on Star Wars - especially as it seems from the positive ratings on various ‘aggregating’ websites that there are still hordes of people determined to love the Star Wars universe no matter how clumsily it’s delivered.

Surely alarm bells have to be ringing, though, about the fact that Johnson is also currently signed up to make another trilogy of Star Wars films…"

It almost ruined the brand to a point where it caused fatigue. Kinda like what’s happening now with Star Wars. Gotg was becoming more popular than Spider-Man and he would of followed in the footsteps of the justice league had that horrible asm series continued and he’d lose money. Taken a step back and giving the character to marvel is the smartest thing Sony has ever done. But Star Wars doesn’t have a marvel. Unless you give it back to Lucas which would be funny considering everything that happened with him in the past.

Pretty much this. I like the expanded lore of Star Wars and could care less about rebel vs empire. I respect the older movies but I love Star Wars cause of its deep lore and stuff. These movies just aren’t for me. They have horrible characters and it’s the same plot from the previous films. I’ll stick with the spinoffs and games and whatever comes after this series.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I was with the Forbes' guy 'till this sentence:

"I couldn’t help but find myself comparing The Last Jedi with Alien 3."

And so credibility of his opinion immediately went to trash.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Oh look another reviewer pissed off that Rian didn’t give him what he had meticulously built up in his mind for these characters after TFA going so far as to compare it to the Aliens/Alien3 character direction changes.

Yawn lol

But i’m happy to see that Snikt found work at Forbes. :lol
