To me one of those looks exactly like Vader, and it isn't the 200$ figure. Go figure. (Pun intended)

Repaint the mask part and you're set. It's what I intend to do. Heck the dome is metal, and painted instead of just cast in shiny black plastic! I hate these big $ figures really when I think about it. :(

It's a little soft on details. I was excited initially but when you look at it closely, there's too many things to fix.

Like what? Just curious. Getting these in this week. Cause to my eye from pics the vents look well enough detailed, the dome is right and the overall mask is in scale with itself and 1/6. Reminds me of kaiyodo.

When it first came out I got a ton of pics of the Vader one to see if it could work. The close-ups just didn't look as good as I hoped - don't remember exactly what it was. I figured I'd wait to see if I could get one on clearance or something.

Strange cause in the close ups I've seen it looks alright. Not as sharp as some others but the overall proportions seem right which is more than most high end companies can say.

Yeah, not sure what is was that made me give up on it in the end (I think it might have been softness of the sculpt, mouth grills and the nose, but I've looked at too many possible Vader heads!) - looking forward to seeing what you can do with it. :hi5:

Zooming in I see what you mean. The vents are fine and accurate for ESB, but the cheeks miss the inward curve on both sides. I will be adding those and making his general appearance more accurate overall, adding the right kind of asymmetry the the cheeks, redo a bit of the eyebrows. I will also be sharpening the edges overall. The scale is pretty good so I think it will be quite easy to do. Is it made of bendy plastic or sturdy plastic?

The dome is still very close to perfect ^^

It looks okay. I have to admit, after the Hot Toys helmet being so much better than other efforts, I expect more out any Vader helmet. Hasbro should have upscaled the new black series helmet sculpt as that is much more accurate in shape.

Which hot toys? The rogue one? Is it a better sculpt than kaiyodo? :)

The hot toys ANH and Rogue One use the same sculpt.

The kaiyodo is the best mask and the Hot Toys has the best dome. The best combo is probably a hurricane / kaiyodo mask and a new hurricane dome that I believe was originally based in part on the hot toys dome. If I wanted to go cheap, the best combo would be the air freshener / hot toys recast with a hasbro dome.

:goodpost:

The hasbro sculpt remind me to the attakus v1... so... not bad even if not accurate...

All in all:

Hasbro metal is my favorite dome out of these 3. The eyebrows on it are off in that they aren't angry enough but the flare and overall shape is pretty good.

Facemask pros cons:
Better overall proportion than sideshow. Right scale. Great (accurate) detail on the reveal part. Neck sculpt looks nice.

Cons:
Soft detail on the vents on his neck. No indents on the cheeks. Nose a bit too wide.

I'm going to resculpt this to become a reveal head and see how far I can take it. Its a good sculpt for the price for sure. Plus you get a stormtrooper helmet haha :lol

Oh and the metal dome looks pretty good from behind. Imo. It's metal left, hasbro middle and SS in the right.

I picked up the Boba Fett/Boushh Helmet set a couple weeks ago, they look pretty sweet to my eye.
The only thing I'm not super pumped about is Boba's range finger, the stalk is a very soft plastic. It won't snap on you, which is a plus, but it wilts and bends quite easily.
I popped the head on my SST Boba, looks pretty nice!
