I watched Episode I with my son on blu-ray last week and it was the most enjoyable viewing I have ever had of that film. It was neat to see him relate to Anakin when he turned to me and told me how he'd never want to leave his home during that scene. And you know what? Jar Jar is pretty cool when you turn off your jaded inner fan boy and just enjoy the film in the proper context.

yes, the best way to enjoy Star Wars is through the eyes of one's inner ten year old.

Is the UK and US release different?

I saw an unboxing on ign that has the boxset as a carded book that the discs on each page slide out of, where as on UK site it looks like a book but on cheap clear blue plastic that the discs click into. :dunno

Yes, they have different packaging.

That sucks!! The American packaging looks so much better.

The price point sucks too £67 for 6 films and bonus, whereas the Harry Potter collection has 8 films and includes them on DVD too in the package, with a book and numbered box for about the same price

Eh...no. For a movie like Transformers...I agree. But Star Wars has more in it then just pretty colors and 'splosions.

There's too much going on character wise for you to enjoy it as a child. IMO at least.

i saw the original Star Wars when i was 10 years old so i speak from experience. don't underestimate the imagination of a child.

George may have created Star Wars, but to me there is so much better material made from it by others.

I just watched the opening cinematic of The Old Republic, it was amazing, easily beats any lightsaber battle done so far, and as fans of Knights of The Old Republic know it can have deep story too.

The force unleashed was awesome, and was made better than Ep 1 & 2 combined, even the Clone Wars series is much better than them.

Face the facts Geroge sucks, he ignores good material to include pointless humour and doofy characters.

70% of Star Wars material was not done by goerge and is better for it, he just says yes and no to details.

:lecture:exactly::clap

I was seven and fully enjoyed it. I may not have got the subtext at that age but that's the difference between the prequels and the OT... there's ZERO subtext or backstory. They're all one dimensional fodder that don't teach anything to our kids. I watch my seven year old daughter being absorbed by the OT and then afterwards asking questions about things; particularly Yoda and his teachings with Luke. It leaves her thinking, wondering, wanting to know more.

The prequels...nothing but pretty lights.

Watching the deleted scene of the extended pod race grid sequence from TPM original dvd release, it's funny that they show Max Turrell's wife and their 3 kids, one is a newborn she's holding and the announcer says she just got out of the hospital.

Awww, how cute. :inlove

Well, we all know what happens to poor Max Turrell in the race :horror

well I for one am happy George is still making changes
It gives me hope that one day
I will be in the original trilogy

Is it me or did they change Aurra Sing's scene in Episode 1?
I thought in the original you only saw her from the back.
In the Blu-Ray it looks different and slightly longer.
Anyone else notice that?
