ANH is just so slow now with the other movies released. :lol The clones and the battle at the end give AOTC a slight advantage over Maul in TPM. But I like the way how the puzzle pieces fit in ROTS to connect the PT to the OT.

But the ending to ANH is a classic and is only beat by the big revelation in ESB.

That being said :lol

I agree about the clone ending battle in AOTC (and awesome palpatine looking over his new army, that star destroyer rocks my home theater) giving the slight advantage over the bad ass Maul three way fight.

But C3PO in the arena is really hard to stomach.

All kidding aside, I've been w/o SW in my life for 6 yrs and i'm happy they're back with this box set.

I was a very outspoken PT hater, not anymore.

I have now begun to appreciate them and what they bring to the geek table.

There are many good scenes in them that I now believe outweigh the negatives.

GL has no longer raped my childhood.

Maybe just chafed my ____ with C3PO in AOTC. :lol

That's cool. I know there are lots of prequel fans around, but was surprised by your post b/c I didn't think many people actually preferred the prequel trilogy as a whole to the OT. But I haven't paid much attention to the Star Wars threads in the past, so that could just be ignorance on my part.

Well, for me the PT came out around the time most folks older than I saw the OT. I saw the OT when I was a kid then again in 97 during the SE and while I always thought it was cool I wasn't OMG this is the best ever. Now, not that I thought this about the PT either but for me the PT just gave me the answers I wanted and made the OT better. For me the fall of Anakin is really a big deal and the fall of the relationship between Obi-Wan/Anakin is big as well. In a lot of ways SW for me is all about the visuals as much as it is anything.

Yeah, there were some good performances in the prequels (particularly Mcgregor), but the dramatic performances in the OT were superior IMO. Though Ford hams it up a bit too much in Jedi. It's like his character became a PG-rated caricature of itself in the script and in Ford's mind at that point.

The first Star Wars film does have a lot going on obviously, but I think it does a great job of balancing all the components of the story, and putting it together in an effective narrative. All the stuff going on also helps to allow it to stand alone best of the other films IMO.

I'll come out and say this very proudly, that Across the Stars song from AOTC is bad ass and is just as good as anything OT music related.

Same for Duel of the Fates.

His portrayl as Obi-Wan, Guinness, and Liam Neeson are the three people in SW that to me acted in it. Everyone else was just "eh" that for me is why I never get into the whole debate over acting.

In the end it's all ____ing Star Wars anyway. Take what you like, leave what you don't. It's not worth developing a psychosis over. :lol

Yeah, thats my approach. Maybe that's why as Carl said I'm easy to please. I do that with collecting or movies because I'd rather just focus on what I like.

When you say the name SW though, the OT will be the first thing that will come to the mind of most people followed by the name GL and his empire followed by the disdain for the PT.

C'mon, no matter what age you are, ANH and Empire are considered cinema classics vs anything PT related.

Agreed. Both trilogies have their merits, albeit different ones.

I remember watching ROTS the other day, and laughing at his "I HATE YOOOOO!" because, you dont say that....why would you say that as your legs and arms were cut off? Maybe a human being would say that, in real life...but for dramtic purposes that's just silly.

He should've just screamed. AHHHGAHHH! YOU *******! or something.

It's the PT. I don't think they would've pulled out that kind of language. :lol In all seriousness though, I think the "I hate you!" has more of an emotional impact than "You *******!" because it represents Anakin finally/completely severing ties with Obi-Wan, his teachings, and the Jedi order.

I've never hated the PT even though I don't think it comes close to the quality of the OT. ROTS is my favorite of the PT, but also the most disappointing to me. I would've liked to have seen more of Anakin gradually converting to the dark side in the previous movies (I feel Episode 1 wasted too much time where 2 had more connections to the OT) so Episode 3 didn't have to rush it. I kind of wish Episode 3 was a 3hr movie, but I know that would seem out of place for a SW movie.

Did they ever explain the whole Leia talking about her real mother in ROTJ yet since she obviously didn't get to know Padme?

I finished the PT and then ANH last night and loved seeing them on Blu-ray. I can't wait to finish the set. I guess the deleted scenes from the dvds didn't make it to the extras though?

Personally I find all those extra layers to go through to get to the extra content tiresome eg Movie - planet - category - etc
I'd prefer just to look in one section ie characters, strangley OT vader costume was on the Ep111 bonus menus.

yeah, I agree. I hate the layout/presentation of the bonus features. Very tedious to trawl through. The DVD menus were excellent in comparison.

:exactly:And Battle of the Heroes! Amazing music. Infact the entire Sith score is as good as the best of Williams other work.

My feeling on this (not that Lucas ever sat down and tried to work it out) is that Leia had a sense of Padme through her force connection.
Maybe in dreams and the like when she was a baby.

Finished watching the last one last night. My verdict:

Looks better than the DVDs. The changes are about as annoying as previous versions. I would give it a B+ overall.

If I could pick one thing to change it would be the stupid and insipid "Jedi Rocks". That isn't unique to this release, so I guess I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the blurays.
