It's been kinda left pretty vague. BB has been officially called both he and she. Maybe there will be a reveal in the movie.

There has been a lot of speculation that he is Vader's clone. So basically Luke's brother.
I do think we will see h unmasked though, vanity fair wouldn't have shown what they did otherwise. And he clearly has his Helmet off in the trailer.

I think that vanity fair set footage with him sans helmet is a red herring. I really do. JJ simply cannot "not" have a surprise reveal. Just because the character has Adam driver's hair doesn't mean he will use his face. At the very least, I call shenanigans. Or tomfoolery even.

There was a photo with has face. But that was a magazine spread photoshoot, not a film still. No footage thus far other than the 'back of the head' shot everyone's already mentioned.

Nope. I think that'd be absurd. Gungans just look innately goofy, I could never see him as a pivotal ''serious'' character even if it was all just an act on his part. I'm sure the whole Yoda thing would be brought up in defence - but even if I accepted that I could never see it as anything other than a ret-con in Jar Jar's case anyway. I don't believe that was ever the intention. Lucas was describing him as the ''funniest character'' ever in Star Wars...

Given the emphasis they have placed on practical effects, no way. CGI cannot do human characters convincingly yet.
