I love being almost 40 as opposed to 23 with TPM. A different mindset for sure. At 23 denial was strong, i lied to myself for a few years knew they were bad but just didn't get why/how they could **** them up so bad so i made excuses. This time older, wiser, there will be no denial, no excuses if it sucks. And i can already tell cause i can read through the BS that this will be miles better than the PT and maybe even better than some of the OT.

I don't expect to go in and come out and feel like i did in 1980. Which is what a lot of folks around my age want, and will never happen.(and is naive IMO) What i expect is a proper sequel, that gives me thrills and maybe a chill or two and that is all!

Obviously for fans of a certain age, all SW films will be judged in the context of the OT. I was predisposed to like the prequels because they were fleshing out the OT. Most others hated them because they were too different or inferior to the OT.

The new film seems to have the same feel as the OT, which is positive, but runs the risk of being too derivative if it apes the OT too much.

It's definitely darker, maybe TFA will be darker than the triumphant ESB

Sure... :monkey3

But did you enjoyed them? Because on a personal level that's the only thing that matters.
It's all about the experience and what's left after.

This time older, wiser, there will be no denial, no excuses if it sucks.
Even if it has good things that ended up underused or used inappropriately?
And you'll pay money to see it anyway, which is a thumbs up sign for producers and the only thing they care about.

This isn't very wise... and incredibly confusing. :lol

Well, let me tell you what's going to happen, "old" wise man. You will go see this movie with your new found wisdom and more importantly, your low or at the very least, realistic expectations, and if by some miracle this movie manages to surpass your expectations, you ...like a lot of older SW fans will think this film is much better than it actually is, thus fooling and lying to yourself once again....only to realize what happened several years later. Then, in about 16 years, when Episode 16 comes out, you'll say the same thing...and history will once again repeat itself. Hopefully I'll still be here to remind you :wave

Did you read anything i said? There will be no more denial. You aint "telling" me ****! (Besides i cant take anyone with any kind bats avatar seriously, it's a rule i have)

Sure... :monkey3

I wouldn't expect you to understand much of anything. But like i said, i lied to myself and told myself i enjoyed them. I think there are parts of the PT that kick ass, but as movies overall they just suck.

I'm sure you'll be back with Difab on the 18th to tell us how much it (EP7)sucks though. (and so will i if it does!)

So this saber deflector is attached to him arm? I guess its more of a defensive weapon?

This is the only thing (so far, I hope) that I DON'T like about the new Star Wars. In my Star Wars, the only thing a lightsaber blade cannot cut through is another lightsaber blade. It's the rarest, most unique and powerful weapon in the galaxy and it should be as simple as that.

And on Carrie Fisher: She's now shooting off her mouth and talking crap about how she was "pressured" to lose 30 pounds for Force Awakens. Well, maybe they wanted the character of Leia to appear as an active & fit leader. If you didn't want to be that character, you should have PASSED on the part! It's nice to have the gang back, but I'm sure they could have done it without you. And you don't think Harrison and Mark got in shape for their roles? :dunno

From what I've seen, I don't think it's going to suck or be horrible or anything like that. I only stated how I don't feel anything after these trailers and that it isn't doing anything for me. I personally think it's going to be average, decent, and forgettable, kinda like Jurassic World. Sort of like, *poof* it happened and now it's done.

The only reason I'm salty is because I'm sick of seeing STAR WARS all over the place. I opened the ****ing newspaper this morning and there was a whole page worth of crap about how Star Wars band aids are like 30-40% of Johnson and Johnson's profits. As a brand, Star Wars is just really gross to me. I used to get excited hearing the theme, now I hear it at retail stores and want to kill some younglings.

I always wondered why any of the OT films never showed Stormtroopers getting sliced by the lightsabers. Sure the droids got diced in the PT but those were robots to begin with, maybe Lucas thought seeing a clone getting slashed by a saber was too gruesome in the OT :dunno

I agree, and even more annoying are the SW fanboys...not regular fans, but the mega fanboys who think SW is the be-all and end-all of all things :monkey4

Phantom menace the best of the prequels and more star wars then the other two. No young annoying baby too. It was very kid friendly. But I saw it when i was a young kid so that's why I like it.

You called the film garbage. In this very thread. In a response to Cixx. Like a week ago.

This is news to no one and should have been expected by everyone. It's Star Wars, of course it's going to be everywhere. Same **** happened with the prequels.

It was two weeks ago, Cix was pressing people's buttons so it was a bit amplified, but yes, I do think it's garbage in a sense.

Jurassic World, Furious 7, Avengers Age of Ultron, Terminator: Genisys, The Hobbit movies, The Hunger Games, etc. Most blockbusters are. They're made by a committee to be sold as a product. With that said, I don't think it will be awful and I'm sure it will be entertaining. I used Jurassic World as an example and I think this will be similar. I thought Jurassic World was garbage, but it wasn't terrible or offensive to my eyes. Some parts of it were indeed enjoyable (though I've forgotten about all of it at this point). It was certainly watchable and yielded quite a box office turnout. Garbage is high praise compared to calling it complete **** (crap), am I right?

What are your thoughts on Star Wars The Force Awakens and Star Wars as a whole my dear Xenoburger_? Are you excited, are you counting down the days?

Luke hacked and slashed his way through a couple of skiff-loads of Jabba's goons, it just wasn't very graphic.

Uh... whyyyy?

Of course they made her get into shape. They wouldn't want people getting confused and saying "wait, didn't Jabba the Hutt die in Return of the Jedi?"

Man, that was mean, I feel ashamed :lol

I used to get excited hearing the theme, now I hear it at retail stores and want to kill some younglings.

:mwaha

Does... not... compute...
