That's almost exactly what I've been wanting, but with Obi-Wan being hunted by cyborg Maul. The perspective would switch between those two characters, Maul hunting and Obi-Wan escaping/surviving out in the vast, isolated deserts. It'd be very serious, and there would be very little dialogue.

I kind of think of it as like the predator hunting Dutch or terminator hunting Sarah, but with the atmosphere of an old Clint Eastwood western revenge-type film. I'm thinking Obi-Wan gets wounded early on or something and has to retreat through the desert to regain his health.

Man, Ewan and Ray Park back as Obi-Wan and Maul. That would be incredible.
One can dream.

Just finished watching...

I don't think Han is dead yet. I guess they are just trying to dramatize the movie with the death of the main character. Heck, if kylo made it out alive which I assume he did, and Finn isn't dead yet, they can bring back Solo.

I don't really feel the chemistry is working between the younger main characters, everything just happened to fast with explosives and all the gunfires. And captain phasma was a disappointment, can't believe how they hype her in the promos and figures when she has such little to no impact at all.

It was good to see Luke, but I was hoping to see him have more screen time instead of just a couple of minutes

dunno how this thread has played out w/ spoilers and there really aren't any IMO (at-least nothing that has been said already) inside this box, but I'll still include it just incase.

to me the story played out very much like ANH. the form of it constantly reminded me of the first film.
and it wasn't exactly rocket-science to form an idea of the plot based on the trailers. I've been going to the movies lately so there was no avoiding them...
the Luke thing was especially easy to filter-out in advance from the general reportage. captain phasma was useless and I think there would've been a good chance for a ESB type cliffhanger ending, but they didn't use it.

I was thinking the exact same thing that it'll be massacred in a few months or so.
but maybe the boots were just too big? the build-up to the release... but had it been anything, I think it wouldn't have nailed it?

somehow to me it didn't connect all that well even with the old characters in (or maybe because of it, dunno?).
I think there's too much sorta setting-up the story (trilogy to come) and references/homages to the old movies are just all-over the place all the time (but I guess that's sorta inevitable?).

one thing that bothered me, was the similarity of the character types/roles to ANH.
maincast was kinda too young and sometimes acted very childishly. but I guess that's all disney?

it isn't bad, but I think I liked Abrams Star Trek(s) more.
might of been better if it would've just honestly tried to stand on it's own? without seemingly having nothing to do with the old movies...

dunno. still better than the prequels.
and I'm pretty sure it's enough to get a new generation hooked?

ok. I think I've had plenty of time to savour it and to me it's just an ANH remake, plain and simple.
and in that (remake) gategory "Star Wars XXX - a Porn parody" beats this one by a mile?

YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON ON THIS FORUM WHO WATCHED TFA TO DISLIKE IT. ALL HATE AND BASHING HAS STARTED WITH YOU! :clap

I came away liking the film overall but I was disappointed as well.

It was Han's swan song (thankfully Ford delivered) but everyone else from the original cast felt like a product placement added to say the original cast is back together. While it was nice seeing them in their roles again, they added little.

The bad, dry, forced acting continued. I guess it isn't a SW film without some level of it. Most of the new characters delivered a solid performance (Rey, Finn, Kylo) while others not so much.

Too often the story felt convenient however, it delivered on the action, humor and cinematography.

First Order hit and miss. Kylo and the storm troopers were enjoyable in their brutality but rather indifferent on the higher chain of command. Snoke looked more like something from LoTR.

Luke's appearance was anti climatic, he looked like a pissed off grandpa. Phasma such a disappointment.

Got back a short time ago. It's awesome, loved it! A couple of my favorite parts were:

-The Resistance X-Wing fleet attacking the First Order just after Han, Chewie, and Finn are captured. The X-Wing's coming across the lake looked so cool. I goosebump'd hard.

-Kylo vs Rey. A great Lightsaber duel. I liked how the Lightsabers appeared to have weight to them, like it took strength to wield one as opposed to the prequels when they were swung around like skinny wooden dowels.
My personal rating is 8.5/10. I took the 1.5 off for:

-Captain Phasma. I was expecting so much more. I can only hope she'll be back at some point, unless they really did throw her into a garbage compacter.

-Han dying. I saw it coming but it still made me sad.

-The aerial battle at Starkiller Base. Would have liked to have seen it on a larger scale, with a greater number and variety of ships. Like the Death Star Battle in ROTJ.

I´ve seen it yesterday, first Star Wars in theaters for me and that experience was something.
That story roll, for the first time on the big screen, really something´s for the bucket list.
:rock

The film itself was awesome, absolutely worthy successor of the originals and I love the chemistry between all the characters.
They captured the magic, if you ask me.
Too bad Abrams won´t do the others, could hurt, but will have to see.

Since I´m not THAT big a SW fan (don´t get me wrong, love the movies, one of the biggest series of films ever, just don´t need merch of it), but this was a must to close out the cinema year and finally see a SW in cinema and how everything was tackled.

9/10

Actually
snoke reminds me of lord Voldemort from Harry potter

The answer to your second thought is no.
Once it is made more aware to the fans, it will surely be debatable...but no,he isn't.....
You're saying Luke isn't Rey's father? How can you know that for certain, it seems to me they have intentionally left this unanswered.

Ok seen it

Was it ANH 2.0? Yeah
Was it fan service? Yeah
Was it a good movie? Hell yeah

IT JUST ****ING WORKED!

Kids gotta remember, JJ had to steer the ship right and play it kinda safe after the prequels. Get the train back on the tracks after the horror of the PT. And he accomplished that perfectly.

I imagine ep8 will be a quite different type of SW movie.

A solid way to kick start off a new trilogy 8.5/10

And are we done with spoilers now? I mean the movie is open if you don't wanna get spoiled now stay outta the thread I would think. So how much longer?
