Feeling catty this morning. How could....

Two attractive (in their day) people like Han Solo and Princess Leia produce such an ugly offspring? lol And wow, Fisher's drug use sure took it's toll. Sad.

I love that it ended with questions versus everything being resolved in two hours......feels like old school movie making. Kids.....drugs are bad.....nnnnngh k

My own opinion of TFA:

I watched TFA and I have to say it is indeed a good SW movie, and remember I'm a big OT fan. The acting was really fine, Han was great (including solo ;), with Rey and Finn, and with Leia), you can feel Harrison did his best for this role, Rey and Finn totally have the chemistry going, hope we'll see more of Poe Dameron. I also liked Kylo's quite complex character torn between the two worlds, not a powerful Sith, but an unbalanced wannabe baddie who finally chooses his path.

The overall plot was a bit too safe, by following OT (ANH and ESB) steps, but was kind of understandable considering this was the first movie from a new trilogy (or even 2 trilogies, who knows). Special effects were great, but that was to be expected. Waiting to see the next "Death Star" in episode 8. :monkey3

Phasma and Luke were a bit of a disappointment. Phasma really should have had more going to her, hope she will come back, and Luke in the final scenes was too odd. It would have been ok for a short scene, but it was too long, and became weird.

In the next films we also need to find out and understand how and why Rey has access so fast to the Force, because otherwise it would be weird (Luke's daughter maybe but even so, you know what I mean). I didn't like the scenes with the tentacle monster on Han's ship, it was too forced, and also a bit the way Finn turns against his fellow Stormtroopers, he found his way, but shoots his former colleagues too easily, at least at the beginning.

My personal conclusion: TFA beats the Prequels the same way furry Ewoks beat both the Rebels and the Empire on Endor LOL :p
It is not perfect, but a good start for the new Star Wars.

Our night started off great. My buddy got us Imax tickets for 1am showing for 12/18, which was this morning. Ticket taker said, that would be friday night at 1am, not tonight. We said but the date says.....and the assistant manager next to her basically said "no movie for you." My buddy asks to speak to the head manager. This guy was awesome. Refunded our money, gave us this special showing with only 2 other people in it and free large popcorn and Pepsi. We even got to see it an hour early!

The one thing I took from TFA is that Chewie is racist and likes to choke black people.

The TFA is the Nickleback of Star Wars movie. It just pulled several scenes from ANH and re-arranged them.

Ford and Chewie were the attraction. Going into the end, I thought
Chewie would be the one to bite it saving Han in the process. Fulfilling his life debt.

The head First Order General was a hoot. So incredibly overwritten and acted as EEEEEvil. That speech to the courtyard of troops. :lol

I think Leia washed down a pack of Marlboro's with a shot of whisky before delivering her lines.

I dug Rey's voice. The calm HAL voice when speaking. Then his tantrum meltdowns all Skywalker style. :lol

I liked it, but don't crave to see it again. I'd rank it 4th behind. ESB, ANH, ROTS.

And Mark Hamill got paid for the easiest job ever presented to someone.
Just turn around and lower you hood.
The end. :monkey4

Meh, I'm watching Fury Road again today.

My opinion so far:

- Fin character is way too inconsistance " I don't want kill people" but kill people anyway. His motivation also seems not strong enough
- Fin and Rey chemistry seems forced
- Captain Phasma role is small, really really small. Don't have high hopes for this girl yet
- Odd new emperor wannabe, Kylo ren also practically Darth Vader wannabe
- Overall plot is way too similar with ANH
- Luke Skywalker = Obi Wan
- So many characters have not enough backstory, maybe they keep it for next movie

Beyond Han and Chewie, the original cast was rather unimpressive. Leia and 3P0 had a few lines R2 and Luke brought nada

No doubt about that, but that's more the scripts fault than the actors right? My point is I think she exceeded my expectations with what she was given.

Gotcha....given her mental and physical comdition she did fine delivering the lines.....

Off topic.....what did folks think of 3D? I thought the Star Destroyer shot above Jakku was insane....really looked like it was coming off the screen.

Yeah the 3D was insane. I saw it in Imax and 3D and my eyes still hurt :lol

I need to see it regularly this weekend. I feel like I missed a lot.

Not to mention, I was at the theater two hours early and still ended up third row from the screen :lol

Just saw it, really liked it.
I thought Kylo was excellent, i was surprised by his helmet the way it opened and it seemed like it was really heavy the way he threw it on the ground with a thud . Everyone one was excelleny new and old, but what really disapointed me was Lukes role, i know hes probably going to have a bigger role next time, but just standing there a few seconds and thats it, come on say something at least, even R2 D2 was a bit of a wast. Also no wonder Ford has been so happy it all the intereviews as he finally got his wish and is now out of it lol , But he was suberb in this.

It was more I will not kill for them, I will kill to do what's right.

Finn and Rey chemistry was good I think.

I liked the 3D but will not bother with it when I see it again.

Saw it last night at the first available showing (7pm) in 3D and sitting in D-Box seat.

Most of the 'flaws' have been touched on already, so I'm not going to rehash them.

I think for Episode VIII I'm going to skip out on a lot of the speculation and try to avoid as many trailers as possible. Yeah, it's fun reading what you guys all have to say (checks post count...yup, mostly a lurker outside of a few threads) but between everyone basically calling most of the major plot points, and the 'what we THOUGHT was going to happen' not really coming to fruitition, my viewing was a little...sullied. Yes, it was a great movie. I don't dis-like it. The 'poetry' between this one and ANH is the biggest detriment that I can pick out. It's just a TAD too think. Mostly the new 'cantina'. Kind of take you out of it a bit.

But I did love it overall. Not sure where it ranks yet (other than WAY above the PT).

I'm excited to see it again with my son on Saturday and even to take my Mom over Christmas. She's going to lose her **** when certain things play out...and I can't wait. lol

Anyone touch on how WASTED the Raid guy were yet?? Hope they elablorate on the Knights of Ren at some point as well.

It was more I will not kill for them, I will kill to do what's right.

Finn and Rey chemistry was good I think.

I liked the 3D but will not bother with it when I see it again.

Exactly. He doesn't want to massacre innocent people. It wasn't 'I won't kill'. It was 'I want to do what's right'.

Loved Finn btw. Rey was quite good as well. She made great transitions in a few important scenes. Very well done.

3D was great in a few spots where you could really take it in, but didn't really ADD to anything. I dn't regret going all in with my viewing, but I wouldn't necessarily reccommend to see it in 3D. I mainly see 3D movies these days to get the reserved seating up here.

While not the disaster that were the PT, still disappointing.

I have been punched in the balls in 99 and now in 2015.

When CF's acting is one of the few positives you know we're in trouble.

First the negatives:

The way the previous 32 years was explained away, Han had a fight with Leia something or other.....wait what.
Han and Chewie's introduction wasted!
Han bumbling about as a smuggler.
Han's death by a son we never got to know meant nothing, and offensive lol
Leia's force powers never mentioned.
Missed opportunity with Han fixing the Falcon with a punch.
Han using chewies blaster over and over.
Kylo Ren's tantrums.
No memorable side characters.
The First Order was an embarrassment.
Hux's speech to his troops was cringe worthy.
First Order destruction of planets meant nothing.
Captain Phasma, who?
Lupita was wasted!
Max Von wasted
Snoke's lame ass design.
Cgi monster on the loose.
Couldn't hear wtf the stormtroopers were saying during some scenes.
Clone explanation made no sense.
Ship to ship battles rang hollow because the First Order sucked so bad.
Resistance command station was horribly forced and useless, zero tension!
Harnessing the power of the sun lol Doc Ock would be proud.
Destruction of First Order planet anti-climatic!
New music was boring as all hell.

The very few positives were not enough to save this movie:

Rey
BB8 very well used and adorable, he is NOT a JarJar!
Falcon's escape from Jakku.
C3PO one interaction with Han/Leia.
Lightsaber battle in the snow just as good as Darth Maul battle.
Leia, wut!
Special effects (other than Snooki), like duh.
Yes, seeing Luke still gave me goosebumps.
3D

On the fence about Finn/Poe.

The damn trailers were epic, what happened!

DiFabio was ****ing right, them happy together at the end of ROTJ was THE END!

I saw it last night, and

I have mixed feelings about it. Treating it as any other movie, it was fun and amazing; but, as a Star Wars episode, I'm somewhat disappointed. And surprisingly, most of my friends who live 1000 miles away, shared the same feeling. But I will see it again tomorrow, before conclude my thoughts.

However, I can't deny the fact that what we got is the result of the hard-headed OT fan-base -- I hope they're satisfied...
