Star Wars: The Force Awakens (12/18/15)

Some of you don't know how to review a movie. You review a movie based on the content solely on screen and how it is presented. Not based on your own personal wants and wishes. Taking points off because you wish something didn't happen or wanted something to go in a direction movie isn't a "review," it is more like just open thinking and fantasy... just your own personal wishes (which nothing is wrong with stating you wished something was done different, just taking points off of a review is to me )

This sums it up perfectly...

"A common ailment of fanboys and fangirls; Such individuals believe that because they watch a program, buy a product, or attend a show that they are on the same level as the person (or people) who worked on the entertainment that they enjoy. Whenever things don't turn out how they think it should, they whine and complain."

"I've been a long time fan for a long time! *insert person here* should cater to MY demands and if they don't I'm going to make a massive *** out of myself online! I won't stop watching. I won't stop reading. I will however keep going on and on and on about how my *favorite series/one true pairing/whatever* is forever ruined. My head is big, my brain is small, and I have a ridiculous sense of entitlement!" (does this sound familiar )

Han dying wasn't a suprise and I understand the purpose to moving the story forward. The beauty of the scene being suprise or not, fan or not it was a gut punch. That is the sign of a beloved, iconic film character.

Kudos Grandpa Ford and Uncle George for giving us the character

Still digesting the movie, but my feelings haven't changed. I had a total blast with it!

I went into the movie only interested in seeing the original cast and the new villain, but I didn't even think of them when the other characters were on screen. They were great! I can't believe how fast I liked BB-8! Some character developments for the new cast fell flat for me, but the acting made up for it. Despite some weak material, John Boyega and Adam Driver showed off some great acting chops, and I'm really looking forward to seeing performances from them in future films. I hope Episode VIII takes its time to better flesh out their characters, especially Rey, who came off as a Mary Sue at times.

The film felt more like a Harry Potter film than Star Wars with the aesthetics, humor, and pacing, which isn't a bad thing, but an observation. Heck, I think the Harry Potter movies is the most consistent long-running film series in terms of quality. They're all much better films than Return of the Jedi, and I'd say the say for this movie.

As of right now, I'd rank it behind 1. Empire Strikes Back and 2. A New Hope, but I think this could end up being my favorite trilogy. I'm not very familiar with the content outside the Star Wars movies, but TFA makes me want to get into it now! I was fine with just the movies, but The Force Awakens really opened up the universe for me.

I just got back from a 1AM screening. I thought the main Rey and Ren plot line is very interesting, but felt rushed in terms of character development. Finn's story is also compelling. The rest was way too derivative and/or muddled. The New Order are more like comic book villains than a fascist movement with a plausible appeal.

Kylo Ren kind of reminded me of Anakin from the PT as a little ***** boy. I get the story line and all but he did seem a little whiny in a few scenes.

Hux was kind of annoying when speaking to The First Order. Also, it seemed as though Ren and him were not on the same page. Felt as if Hux couldn't stand Ren being Snokes bitchboy.

Snokes... Who the hell let Voldermort into the Star Wars universe? I kept thinking is the Darth Plageuis??? And why is his hologram 18' tall? Is this a take on the Emperor from the OT when his was a holo projection?

Poe could have been used more as well as Phasma.

Is it a rehash of ANH? Most definitely but it works real well.

I like how this time around it appeals to girls as well as boys. I see a future where little girls will act as badasses just like I did as a boy almost 40 years ago when ANH came out.

All in all, It does a great job of making up for the PTs... I will go see it again so I can catch the little things missed.

I thought it was great! Very fast paced and exciting. I did see similarities to A New Hope, but not enough to deter me from liking it. Fin was funny at times and almost bumbling. Rey was great and would love to find out about her back story. Can't wait to see it again!

2. Ray is awesome !! Is she Lukes daughter ?? Who took her as a child? Why?
3. Who was the old man at the beginning with the map. Kylo and him knew each other !
4. Who is Snokes ??? He looks like an ancient Sith.. but where did he came from ?? PLagais was a different race.... but it would be so cool if thats him
5. Love that Ren is Solos son !!! Such a twist !!! but visually he does not match lol. Hs character is so interesting.. confused.. still new to all this... weak.. psycho...wants to be strong.. Vader obsessed.. Love it...
6. How did the saber ended up in that box !?!?
7. What kind of journey was Luke on ? Map shows certainly a journey not just a hiding spot

some downers:

- captain phasma.... wtf ?!
- R2 just dust keeper
- was bummed (but expected it kind of) that Han died... Ford just hates Star wars lol... but Im ok with it now after sleeping over it
