After watching TFA I wonder if STAR WARS is the Millenium Falcon, Han and Chewie!! Sure made me realize that STAR WARS is not Jedi's
Considering each trilogy encompasses a different chunk of time, of course it is not all about the Jedi.

Right now:
1. ESB
2. TFA/ANH
3. ROTJ
I don't see any sense in adding non-SW films to that line-up.
They aren't in control though. The New Republic won and they have been hiding for many years only to reappear. They never battled against the republic, only minor skirmishes against the Resistance. Although they destroyed the Republic, they are still in the middle rim trying to grasp control of the major planets at the core and inner rim. The Resistance and what is left of the Republic stand in the First Orders way of achieving complete galactic conquest. I think Episode 8 and 9 will be total war.
No new starwars will ever have the magic of original trilogy
Force Awakens tied with New Hope? don't think so
WOW! TFA and ANH tied.... Damn I must have walked into the wrong movie
Khev,
you moved from Tampa to MN!
That's why I said "Right now." I *think* that I can confidently say that TFA and ANH are neck and neck behind ESB, but just in case I'm buzzing too much on having finally scene a "true" SW film since the OT I'm allowing for the rankings to change.
But for me TFA:
1. Felt like SW
2. Had characters that I loved (old and new, both good and bad)
3. Had great character interactions
4. Great visuals/exciting battles
5. Genuine surprises (even if the broad strokes were familiar)
5. Was funny
6. And was emotional
I think that #6 is what will keep it up there with ANH, might even surpass it on multiple viewings.
I love how TFA has inspired me to look at the OT in new ways. After seeing what Kylo's group did to the innocent civilians at the beginning I could totally see how Owen and Beru might have been torched by OT era flametroopers that just never appeared on screen.
Hell yeah! A couple months ago now. I hated Florida.
I was just busting on you... I wish I could have loved it as much as you.
Sorry you didn't like it Jaws. If you really want me to I will have to reply to you at a later date. Laptop is getting fixed and I know from prior conversations we tend to type essays I can't do that on my ipad mini, thumbs cramp up way to easy. Plus I make a lot of typing errors and this thing glitches up in long responses.
Ah. Yeah me too then. It was so great to feel like I was back in the "OT" again. Too bad it didn't rub you the same way.

Much like the PT needed Lawrence Kasdan around. I think this film needed just a little bit of Lucas.... Just a little
Nah, I was aware that Han had to die and the box office torch had to be passed on to the new kids, HF wouldn't even do the movie unless he was killed.
I'm just slightly ticked off on how it was done.
But you raise a great point, Leia didn't even give Chewie a hug did she?
Ughhh, this movie truly blows chunk.
Careful there.... You could be setting yourself up.I'm expecting to be at least as good as ANH.
It had his characters. That was enough.
Speaking of Lucas, he's done a lot of recent bellyaching that Disney discarded his original treatment for Episode VII in favor of the Arndt/Abrams/Kasdan story. Have any details of Lucas' outline been leaked onto the net?
