My guess....Rey and Kylo are brother and sister....Leia was hugging her daughter after her father was killed. Very similar to how they kept Luke and Leia a secret from one another in the OT. Rey was part of the training Luke was doing when Kylo went rogue. They took Rey away to Jakku to protect her and her Jedi powers from Kylo. Also explains her ability to recall force powers so quickly....she had training that was forgotten or ?

All this guessing and uncertainty is what I enjoy as it makes me interested for the next installment to help fill in pieces. Classic film making versus typically style in comic films these days.

This is my theory as well, and would explain her whooping Kylo Renn’s ass.

Anybody know why Leia does not Huge her long time friend Chewie but hugs the Rey??? The two never met until she got off the Falcon... Leia could safely assume Rey was the girl that was captured by the Empire that Fin wanted to save but Rey should have been like..."Who is this old lady hugging me and why am I hugging her back?" And don't give me "Its because of the force" excuse either :lol

Same as way Chewbacca didn't feel to bothered because the three of them had a secret plan and was executed perfectly. Han is still Alive

Great minds.....I find these conversations enjoyable.....guessing how the story develops versus the action, cgi whatnot like most films these days. The film got me emotionally, it also got me thinking which is much different from most movies franchises nowadays.

Agreed, I actually came out of the movie feeling underwhelmed, but now knowing they might have intentionally left certain things unanswered for us to find out later has actually made me extremely excited for Episode 8, and it might even change my viewing experience for episode 7.

Felt same way...more I think about it the more I appreciate what they delivered.....classic

Chewie's sniper shot at Kylo reminded me of this scene from the new comics. Wonder if the parallel was intentional? Wouldn't surprise me now the Lucasfilm Story Group is overseeing everything ...

Not only that but they may keep on eye on what fans are saying (which often end up conveniently brought together in the likes of Honest Trailers and HISHE videos)

Questions that get repeated enough may end up getting an answer even if an answer weren't previously planned. Criticisms repeated enough could end up being addressed.

Or not. We'll see.

What are your three favorite movies?

My favorite film ever is T2: Judgement Day. It's not the best film I've seen, but it's my favorite.

2.The Dark Knight

3.Rambo: First Blood part II

4.Beetlejuice

5.Drive

??? That is a new one.

For you :wink1:

It's as if Lucas read some Shakespeare and thought, I can write like him...

Not the best example...but still, not your typical teenager talk. And yes, I know they're not regular people, but I like that Finn, Rey, and Poe talk like regular people.

You assume to much. We dont know anything about Kylo, training included. Judging a movie when the whole story is untold is pointless. Also, apparently the same people like to ignore 100% factual information. Kylo was not trying to kill Rey, not at all. Force was dormant for many years. It finally awakes within Rey and she unlocks new found powers and abilities. She feels the force. It guides her. It makes perfect and logical sense why she defeated Kylo.

I don't assume much. We know how powerful Ren is from he's feats in the film. I'm not judging the whole story, just this film...and the choices they made so far, because that's what they gave us so far. Assuming that they are going to give more answers is just an assumption until it happens. I don't think the force works that way...at least that's not how it was shown in the previous films. The closest thing was Luke in ANH when he destroys the DS, but even then, he got some guidance from Obi Wan. It's true that Kylo was not trying to kill her initially, but once Rey opened her eyes Neo style with her new power up, he was on defensive mode and couldn't even keep up with her skills. Now, as far as I'm concerned, the force doesn't randomly give technique or fighting skills to match someone with the amount of training Kylo must of had. If that was the case, Luke would have put up more of a fight against Vader in ESB.

Well, maybe this explains why Solo's story ends the way it does in TFA :lol

Seems roughly comparable to Downey, Jr. in the Marvel films. He's such a draw on his own that he warrants that kind of salary. The other guys are more or less newcomers who get bumps as they progress in the films, same as Ridley. Damn straight she would have taken on that role for free. Boyega, too, I'm sure.

That's because Finn, Rey and Poe *are* regular people (or at least in Rey's case was brought up that way). Anakin and Padme were brought up as Jedi and royalty from an early age.

I actually like the dialogue in the prequels, it was timeless and of a "more civilized age". If it was '90s street speak it would have dated by now.

That's what I said, and I'm glad they are, because that's classic SW. The original characters were more relatable because they were a bit more "street." The problem with the formal talk of the "more civilized age", is that it magnifies the wooden acting, imo.

Chewbacca wanted to be alone? Everyone deals with grief there own way. Only thing I can think off that would explain it.

I call shenanigans :)

Still does not explain why she was so willing to hug some crazy old lady :)

Untrained Jedi is Untrained. :)

I get what you are saying... Though I think they are cousins and not siblings... Still is silly that she figures out she has the force like a half out before and can beat kylo... Yes he is inured but come on man..

I think Rey and Ren are cousins, not brother and sister.

That is my guess.

I think he is saying that the critics that gave it negative reviews were the once who complained the most about it being a rehash of the first... Which it does do... However positive reviews state the same thing.. Question is if you have a problem with that or not..

I would think that it would be clear to all that TFA wears its ANH parallels on its sleeve. Like ROTJ before it it really wasn't trying to hide that fact. But I still strongly believe that TFA is a "proper" ROTJ. Basically what ROTJ would have been like if Ford and Kasdan hadn't been vetoed by George. Also if Gary Kurtz is to be believed ROTJ was supposed to set up the third trilogy with the revelation of who the "other" was at the very end of the film, with the "other" being Luke's lost sister, a Force sensitive gal in another system who was not Leia.

And now fast forward to 2015 and we have a ANH/ROTJ-ish type SW movie that is hitting all of the original desired beats of Kasdan, Ford, and possibly even Kurtz with Rey off on her little quest too.

And I have no problem with any of that, in fact I applaud it. To me TFA is like those "replacement sequels" we've talked about with how Superman Returns replaced Superman III, and how ALIEN 5 might possibly replace Alien 3 and A:Res by giving us the sequel we wanted those films to be all along (in theory anyway.) But TFA actually manages to do that WITHOUT actually replacing ROTJ, which is doubly cool IMO.

One reviewer commented that TFA is the film Abrams *had* to make, that he was basically forced to take SW back to its roots in order to clear the palette after the fan division and overall series tarnish caused by the SE's and prequels. And that now going forward they can stop the parallels to previous films and take more risks. I think there might be real merit in that belief.

That is my guess.

I agree that would still be terrible lazy writing, but what I was saying is that I think they might explain Rey’s backstory revealing that she might have been trained by Luke, and maybe something traumatic happened and she either lost her memory, suppressed her memory, or maybe had her memory wiped, touching the lightsaber helped her remember everything. Thats my theory at least, but if thats not explained in episode 8 then I’ll still have a problem with episode 7.
