I can accept that, by it really does downplay the Jedi/Sith, especially one that was trained by Luke Skywalker and seduced to the dark side.

We don't know how far Kylo got with his training, or if he's had any since. That could also be the source of his conflict.

People gotta remember there's a whole backstory being hidden kept from us until later. That much is clear from the very first scene.

As I said earlier, it bugs me there are some obviously pivotal events that won't play out in the primary SW films (unless they do flashbacks). Kylo's downfall and Luke's exile are too big to leave to the anthology films, or worse, books and comics!

Still, maybe that's all part of Lucasfilm's plan.

The mind trick was funny but not because it worked. I personally liked it when he walks towards her and says "how about I make them tighter" or whatever.

I didn't like how she says it 3 or 4 times and it just works for her. That never worked for Qui-Gon with Watto or for Luke with Jabba the Hutt. Besides, how did she even know about that power? I dunno. If she was overpowered in this one, I can't wait to see what she can do in the sequels. Can probably move planets or some ****.

Finn and Kylo were great, but Rey owned the movie for me; that sure did not sound like Craig....

She did a great job, especially when you consider how inexperienced she is.

Heres where I read it Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Daniel Craig's cameo revealed | EW.com

He seemed pretty powerful in the opening of the film though. He at the very least could have made Finn give him the Lightsaber :lol

Also wasn’t there a scene where Snoke said Kylo needed to complete his training or something? I could be wrong.

They should have given hints of her abilities early in the film to make those later scenes make more sense. Seriously, Luke who is the son of Anakin ******** Skywalker could barely move a lightsaber from the snow in the beginning of the ESB after receiving some basic training from one of the best Jedi ever, but this chick can mind **** a guy who's almost a Jedi, use jedi mind tricks on people, grab the lighsaber from 20 feet away using the force, and completely dominate the villain who could easily stop a blaster shot in mid air? GTFOH....

I thought about the obvious holes in the story......they were so visible they felt placed not missed. Based on the OT vibe from the film, I believe it is part of the overall plan. The OT was a progression often leaving items unanswered from film to film. Feels like going back to old school film making versus wrapping up everything all nice n tidy in 2 hrs. So that is my hope....

My impressions one night out are with folks putting this on par with Return of the Jedi. Both movies are really good at some things, flawed in others, but can't really come close to the storytelling and innovation of the first two films.

ANH doesn't have any unanswered questions. Only loose end is Vader getting away in his Tie Fighter.

Empire has three. Is Vader Luke's father? Who is the other? Will they rescue Han Solo?

Jedi has none.

Menace has the chosen one and Sith Lord mystery.

Clones has one or two. I can't remember.

Sith has none.

Snoke did say that, yes. Toward the very end of the movie

Yeah, when the first order is evacuating.

My guess is she woke some dormant abilities when she had her vision. She heard Ben Kenobi, saw Cloud city, saw the Knights of Ren...

She also does some things instinctively earlier in the film when she doesn't fully understand how.

I don't think her abilities are a plot hole but a question we are meant to hold onto for later.

Just saying the critics are right! It's easy to get caught up in the hype and a new Starwars film than to see it for what it really is...and it's no where near the originals

ROTJ is not better than TFA in my opinion.

I saw it again tonight and liked it a little more the first time. I would have liked to have seen more Poe though. The beginning of the movie with the set up is really good.

The pay off at the end isn't that great on repeat viewings though. The setting of the charges where Han, Chewbacca, Finn and Rey plant the bombs really reminded me of Terminator Genisys at the end with Pops, Kyle and Sarah blowing up Skynet/Genisys. If I'm being honest, all these blockbusters, good and bad, feel the same to me.

What are your three favorite movies?

JJ must be a big fan of Anime...probably a Goku fan, considering the term awakening is associated with Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan and discovering a new power.

One thing I really like about TFA is how characters sound like normal human beings again, unlike the prequels.

??? That is a new one.

Mind tricks don't work on those creatures. Not even Yoda could make it work on them. She knew about the power from the stories told. She felt an awakening in herself and must have known something. Frankly, judging this movie now when the story is not complete doesn't really do much.

They should have given hints of her abilities early in the film to make those later scenes make more sense. You assume to much. We dont know anything about Kylo, training included. Judging a movie when the whole story is untold is pointless. Also, apparently the same people like to ignore 100% factual information. Kylo was not trying to kill Rey, not at all. Force was dormant for many years. It finally awakes within Rey and she unlocks new found powers and abilities. She feels the force. It guides her. It makes perfect and logical sense why she defeated Kylo.

Well it's good that you're here to tell us which personal opinions are correct. Keep up the good work. ;)

I think he is saying that the critics that gave it negative reviews were the once who complained the most about it being a rehash of the first... Which it does do... However positive reviews state the same thing.. Question is if you have a problem with that or not..

Agreed, the acting was the best in series. Finn and Kylo Ren were the standouts in my opinion.

Empire still has the best acting IMO... You have nothing but great performances from everyone and Frank Oz's hand should have won an Oscar... Mark should have been nominated also... He had to act against a puppet the whole film and he did a great job of it... James Earl Jones has his best outing as Vader and Ford was perfected Solo. Fisher was great also... Everyone was perfect... Even the smaller characters were great.

TFA had great acting by the three main new characters... Ford was a bit stiff at times and Fisher was good for being fisher :lol

My opinion anyways... Empire is just a perfect movie.. I like ANH better but Empire is the better movie.

As I stated the final film in the series was the wrap up film....thus Jedi and Sith 0.

ANH - Ben's ability to communicate with Luke thru the force?
Back story of Luke's father - Why Owen and Ben had two distinctive stories? Why Owen didn't want Luke to join the alliance?
Storm Troopers inability to hit squat
Who was the Emperor and why did he disband the Senate
On...and on.....

To bad Luke couldn't nail that scream in ESB. Didn't deliver the line good and his face looks like he smelled a stinky fart

Anybody know why Leia does not Huge her long time friend Chewie but hugs the Rey??? The two never met until she got off the Falcon... Leia could safely assume Rey was the girl that was captured by the Empire that Fin wanted to save but Rey should have been like..."Who is this old lady hugging me and why am I hugging her back?" And don't give me "Its because of the force" excuse either :lol

While they don’t specify how far along he was in training, he seemed pretty damn powerful throughout the movie to end up losing to a noob Rey, and he even seemed to have a bit of trouble with Finn.

Stopping lazers mid-air and leaving them there while doing other things, keeping Rey in a force hold as he casual walks around then force knocks her out.

Force grabs some first order guy and pulls him across the room ruthlessly. He really shouldn’t have even had to lift his saber against Finn. The Rey fight I think is ridiculous but theres a good chance they’ll explain that in episode 8 so I won’t dwell on that fight for now.

I’ll have to respectful disagree, I always thought Hamill was a pretty bad actor, but he had a sort of charm to him similar to Keanu Reeves. But there were just too many horrible voiceovers and overacting for me to say ESB had the best acting in the series to date. Carrie Fisher was the only week actor in TFA to me.

I do agree with you about Frank Oz though, I actually think he gave the best performance in the original trilogy. That puppet had just as much charisma as Han Solo.

Chewbacca wanted to be alone? Everyone deals with grief there own way. Only thing I can think off that would explain it.

My guess....Rey and Kylo are brother and sister....Leia was hugging her daughter after her father was killed. Rey totally unaware but Leia knows. Very similar to how they kept Luke and Leia a secret from one another in the OT. Rey was part of the training Luke was doing when Kylo went rogue. They took Rey away to Jakku to protect her and her Jedi powers from Kylo. Also explains her ability to recall force powers so quickly....she had training that was forgotten or ?

All this guessing and uncertainty is what I enjoy as it makes me interested for the next installment to help fill in pieces. Classic film making versus typically style in comic films these days.
