Your best friend dies. You see his wife. Do you go up and hug her? Not everyone would. Either they would be uncomfortable or wanted to be alone. I do agree I would have Chewbacca and Leia hug, with Rey off with Finn to the medical ward.
Don't need to read the comics, that's the reason Vader was able to carry the emperor while he was doing his electric thingy, and that's how Darth Maul survived being cut in half. I like that they don't explain the force straight up, you have to do a little digging. This is something this movie does right, doesn't explain everything, you have to leave some blanks for the audience to fill.See I haven't read the comics, or watched the shows or anything, I've only watched the main movies, so I didn't know Force users actually use their powers to sort of keep their body going when they're hurt. It's certainly something they didn't seem to imply at that scene.
We know he could have at least used his powers to take the lightsaber right out of Finn's hands instead of fighting him, so again, it just doesn't make much sense to me to strain his body even more by going toe to toe with Finn. That Stormtrooper with that big metal weapon did a better job fighting Finn than Kylo did.
The Rey thing is also felt forced to me because no matter how weak Kylo Ren was, she should have been taught most of the stuff she was using. A New Hope sort of emphasized on that. She seemed to know how to do everything just because she touches a lightsaber. It just seemed very inconsistent with the rest of the movies in the series to me.
I thought the protagonists were brilliant, I was lost in their performances, I didn't realize they were acting, Kylo Ren on the other hand, as soon as he took his mask off, he lost me. Not because "oh mask so cool" but his whole performance lost weight and it was a very noticeable jump.I must of missed this great acting Daisy portrayed.
Really? Do they have an award for Best Original Screenplay? I assure you it won't win THAT. LOL
Yes.... What kind of question and I think 99.9% of the people would.Your best friend dies. You see his wife. Do you go up and hug her? Not everyone would. Either they would be uncomfortable or wanted to be alone.

Again, I don't think he was able to take the saber from Finn given how Finn was firmly grasping it, he only attempted it after Finn lost it, and he couldn't recover it agaisnt Rey, which tells us that he was very weak at that point.
And the thing about Rey is also her being force sensitive, as I've said before, that helps feeling the movements of the opponent, all of that combined makes it for a justifiably enough victory imo.

Yeah, why I didn't include it
With powers she's learned on the fly
Unless it's explained in episode 8, I don't think I can ever like this movie, the ending was the cherry on top of a bunch of conveniences and forced situations to move the plot forward. I'm really trying to like the movie, it has a lot to like, but I can't give this more than a 6/10 at this moment.

I still liked the movie, but I personally can't give it more than a 8 because of that last fight alone. I know there is no such thing as the force, but we've been given 6 movies about it to know that someone should not be able to learn those skills on the fly like that. One thing I was unsure of, is Rey Lukes daughter?
What about that great British accent that she created for the role?!
Oh, wait.
But why is that bad writing though? If injured, they will have to use the force to stay bodily able or otherwise survive, that means they won't be able to use the force for something else, I don't see how that's bad writing, honest question. You see, I would equate those examples you gave to bad writing
I remember reading Darth Maul only came back in that Cartoon Network show because of how popular he was and people wanted to see more of him. It's the equivalent of Boba Fett falling into the big mouth monster with, and now it's canon that he some how escaped. The writers find horrible lazy way to resurrect these characters. If nobody likes Maul, I'm sure he never would have been brought back.
Did you lower your score on TFA for Phasma and Snoke?

You are right about bringing characters back out of popularity. But Darth Maul for instance, lost his mind from the pain and the trauma, it was very taxing on him.
They actually have an already known resource to use, as opposed to Boba Fett who just happened to survive?
Hold the front page!
The biggest ANH homage in TFA...
The Falcon really is an old ship.
This I agree with, it's very valid, I'm defending this part a bit as the devil's advocate and because I know a little outside of the movies, which most people don't, a movie should stand on its own, and because this wasn't implied, I would think you are right in thinking this as bad directing.Well it might not be bad writing, but bad directing, because the movie never really implied that. This film is kicking off a whole new trilogy and there's a bunch of new fans they should consider, maybe making a mention of it would have worked better in my opinion. You're literally the only person who brought up that reason for him not using his powers in the last fight.
Now I don't know if that's just an excuse I should use to make the scene work for me, or is that what the director intended, if it's the latter then I can enjoy the scene a little more.

Yeah, I felt bad for Chewbacca, Han was his bro. Rey knew Han, for what, two hours, three hours tops? **** her.
Chewbacca had that whole life debt/friendship with Han since the beginning. Poor guy.
Even though I had a ton of problems with this movie I'm pretty stoked for Episode 8. I liked that they didn't just throw in everything into this one movie.
Yeah I think ep. 8 will be better, but honestly, I'm more excited about Rogue One and even BvS after seeing this, BvS may end up being a disaster, but it sure as hell won't be formulaic.
