I wish that Chewie had been able to recover Han's body, instead of him falling into a chasm, as always. Could have been an immensely powerful scene, seeing Chewbacca grieve for his old friend.

Not really a complaint, just wishful thinking.

Yeah... This.

The cannon explanation from the visual dictionary is that the force was dormant for many years after Lukes jedi academy failed. The force awakened in Rey, providing her with new found knowledge and abilities she previously did not know. That, coupled with her profound hand to hand combat skills with a staff, allowed her to put up a fight against Kylo. Gaspar had a great theory as well that since Kylo was weakened from the shot from Chewbacca, he was using the force to stay alive and therefore was not at full force power when reaching for the Saber.

Ok.... Thanks.

One issue I have with the film is how Rey and Fin meet Han and Chewie. They stole this old forgotten Falcon as a second choice and on their very first flight into space they just happened to come across the former owner who lost the ship a long time ago in an area/planet he never thought of looking for, but he just happened to be there the very first day the Falcon flew in a long time. :dunno

Guessing it has something to do with the Force. Everything happening for a reason and all..... Wait... Am I talking LOTR here???

Well, some unlikely things have to be forgiven in order to move the story along. I suppose they could have found out that the ship had belonged to this legendary general named Han Solo, since he had fought against the Empire, bringing him his ship back might have offered them some protection from the FO.

Could have gone that way, I suppose.

Unlikely is an understatement. The odds of that happening in a pretty big galaxy...are astronomical, no pun intended (well maybe a little).

So, if the death ray from the Starkiller weapon can destroy a planet, then why doesn't it destroy the planet with the Starkiller weapon? Is it merely harnessing the energy from the Star or storing it to be used on whatever target they want? If its storing the energy, seems odd that the Starkiller planet wouldn't be disintegrated in the process.

I know, I'm analyzing it too much.

It's not just the good guys. How come the empire doesn't create an army of sith warriors? Here you have Kylo Ren, and a bunch of storm troopers, but why not have an army of Kylo Ren's?

Please refrain from leaking the plot of Episode 9.

I don't get why Han was fascinated with Chewbacca's crossbow blaster when they've been bros since Han was a kid. In all their time together, Han never saw how cool it was?!

I thought immediately after the "I like this" line: all these years, and you never swapped weapons with your best friend?
Just to see what kind of kick a bowcaster can summon?
Never tried just once to assess Wookie tech?
Never once before?
Really?

Well in that case Han -- you miserable old fossil -- you deserved to be killed by your Asperger syndromed, son-of-a-coke-whore offspring!

<cue nerd tears like rain>

It was the will of the Force. :wink1: :lol

:lol:lol:lol

And then when they destroyed it, it turned back into a star.
That was so retarded, I hope it was an explosion but it sure looked like a star.

That 95% sure looks fishy the more you think about this movie.

It's true though.

It's how Star Wars was right from the beginning.

It was inspired by the pulpier of the cliffhanger serials, which by their nature were unrealistic and often very simplistic since they were primarily directed at children. The intention every week was to make sure they came back to the cinema the following week.

Lucas has a device to explain coincidence, as Obi-Wan explained in the first film:

The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.

That's like saying, "if a bazooka can destroy an object the size of a bazooka, why won't the 1st bazooka be destroyed merely by shooting?". It's a weapon, it's supposed to be able to handle and shoot that power.

I also assume the planet itself isn't storing the sun's energy rather than some kind of system that works like a battery.

I know there's a lot to criticize in this movie, but let's not do it indiscriminately.

I'm seeing alot of people now jumping on the prequels are better wagon. Its getting very confusing.

Because to some it's cool to jump on the TFA hate bandwagon to fit in with the internet.

I really enjoyed the movie. By the time the new trilogy is over there will be nine Star Wars movies plus two or three spin-off movies across 40 years worth of generations. Everyone just needs to accept that people will have different likes and dislikes with Star Wars.

It will be revealed that Han didn't accidently run into Rey/Falcon, they were always watching.

Remember the fat alien that was paying her for her items, remember he called someone?

I'm assuming he called someone from the resistance, if not Han directly.

Maybe the whole Falcon got stolen thing was all a cover up.

If all this is wrong and Han did accidently run into them, well then.......

Add it to the dumb pile.

Naw, it will turn out that TFA was just a dream Boba Fett had before his brain was finally digested by the sarlacc.

Listening to the audiobook now, and the scene with the alien tentacle monsters hunting people in corridors is so out of place. It would have worked fine IMO just to have Rey seal the two gangs in instead of accidently releasing the Rathars. Han and Chewbacca would still have escaped with them and brought them to Maz.
