Part of me can't help but wonder if Kylo isn't some massively misguided "deep cover" Jedi. And that he felt he had to do something heinous like killing Han in order for Snoke to finally give him the invitation to visit him in person, thus giving Kylo the opportunity to assassinate the Supreme Leader. Of course that could still be his plan which could just be his opportunity to rule the First Order.

What's Finn's gimmick? All the characters have a gimmick.

BB8 is cute, full of surprises and gadgets.

Poe is the best pilot in the galaxy and BB8 belongs to him, that's his robot.

Rey is the hero, force user, great fighter, great pilot, inherits the lightsaber and the falcon which she now flies with her new copilot, Chewie (you'd think that after 40 + years Chewie would be the new captain of the ship) Rey is the perfect little hero with a mystery to solve. She's basically the Katniss of this Hunger Games in space franchise.

Finn can't fly, is not a great fighter, not a force user, not a great Storm trooper or at sanitation, and all he wanted was to escape the empire, which he already did...and he ends in a coma after being rescued by Rey. He just likes/loves Rey...like Petta in the Hunger Games. Is he supposed to be the every man? The Winston from the Ghostbusters?

Why did Abrams/Kasdan have Starkiller base be taken out so quickly?

The FO should've not had a Death Star in this movie, it should've been the resistance that had one, called the "Republic Defender", same weapon as the OT Death Star.

KR should've went back "home" with pops and killed him in front of Leia while saying "This is for you and your Republic mom!"

The FO then jumps out of hyper space with their armada near the RD and tries to overtake it to keep for themselves to use against the Republic as revenge for what happened in the OT. They succeed and get one shot out and destroy Jakku.

Saber battle ensues on the RD.

Resistance loses the RD to the FO which means they have to retreat to Dagobah, Hoth, Tatooine or Endor.

I like that better.
