Just got back from watching it. Incredible. And sad.

i haven't seen it anywhere, so I'm not sure how people haven't realised this yet, but Daniel Craig is clearly the storm trooper that releases rey from the interrogation chair! CLEARLY!

I liked the movie alot, it does have some issues that have been pointed out. The thing that I'm taking away from this is it made my 8 year old daughter a Star Wars fan. It could be the Disney effect, but she surprised me when she wanted to go see it again. Rey may be overpowered as some have said, but she is still a cool character for girls to look up to, since she's still to young for Ripley.[emoji2]

Everyone has probably realized now that there are shots from trailers for The Force Awakens that aren’t in the finished film. That’s not such a big deal when it’s just a shot of Kylo Ren turning on his lightsaber, but it becomes complicated in the case of Maz Kanata handing General Leia Luke’s lightsaber.
For that to have occurred in the actual film, a number of things would have to have gone down differently. Luckily, this is one mystery we don’t have to wait two years to solve. Abrams spoke with Entertainment Weekly about it and cleared everything up:

That was a scene actually filmed, but we took out. At one point, Maz used to continue along with the characters back to the Resistance base, but we realized that she really had nothing to do there of value, except to have her sitting around…

Lupita did film scenes on set for that sequence, but it felt like going right just to go left, and it was unnecessary. So we ended up leaving those things out.

I sort of see his point, but - speaking purely from an armchair quarterback position - I think it would have been cool to keep Maz around and get to know her better. If she hands the lightsaber off to Leia (instead of Rey for some reason?), it doesn’t sound like she had nothing to do.
More than anything, I’m just amazed how much this film wasn’t nailed down as they made it. Unfortunately, that’s something you can feel as it plays.

Blunt question time: Does anyone think that Poe might be gay?

We know that this is the new "diverse/all-inclusive" version of Star Wars and two EU books in the new Disney canon have already introduced several homosexual characters so I wonder if Disney has decided to go that route for a main film character as well.

Before TFA came out I assumed that Rey might have a love triangle between Finn and Poe and then was a bit surprised that there was no such triangle. Or was there? Do Rey and Poe both like Finn? Did Poe like seeing Finn "wearing his letterman jacket?"

Disney is big on their annual gay pride days at their theme parks so I can't help but wonder.

I think so, him and Finn might be an item by the end of 8.

Hux also.

Phasma might be as well.

And Maz.

That would have to be the match up because Finn and Rey are brother and sister after watching A New Ho....I mean The Force Awakens.

It bothers me that after 40 years of Chewie being a copilot, that perfect little brat Rey, is now the new captain, and Chewie, who must be like 300 years old has to take a back seat to little miss sunshine. That's his ship, now that Han is dead.
