I'm now with Khev on this one, i'm not going to get too caught up on helicopter shots and political factions.

I don't know if this is right or wrong, but as a kid, if I found out that my two favorite Star Wars characters, Luke Skywalker and/or Han Solo were gay or gay lovers, I'd probably definitely see them differently. It would taint them, for me atleast.

"Great shot kid that was one in a million".

Terrible writing
Jar Jar
Little Orphan "Ani"

Ben Quadinaros
"Taxation of Trade Routes in Dispute"
Awful on-screen chemistry
CG Clones fighting CG Droids with no one in the audience caring about either side
Over use of CGI/green screens
Boring Senate meetings
Anakin building C-3PO
"Are you an angel?"
"Now THIS is pod racing"
"I hate sand"
"No its because I'm so in love with YOU"
Little kids every where you look
Losing the will to live
"Nooooooo!"

etc

Complaints against TFA:

Rey was too awesome
First Order and Resistance political standings not fully explained
Awesome panoramic helicopter shots around breathtaking real world landscapes are bad

Well, most of us old time fans grew up in a very different climate, in that regards. Kids today don't really care one way or the other.

@Khev

Hey now, Boyega has that line to Rey about "you were standing there and for the first time you looked at me like I was a human being" and it was eerily reminiscent to the way Anakin talked to Padme! Kylo Ren channels his inner Hayden Christensen giving Rey the creepy stare during the interrogation and the whiny, hack and slash "TRAITOR", quite well. He's definitely his grandfathers grandson. CGI? Maza Kanata, Snoke, and the tentacle monsters were just as generic, jarring and awful looking as anything in the prequels. They could have made Maza and Snoke humanoids and dropped the Men in Black aliens Han and Chewbacca smuggled all together. I saw someone compare Maza to Dexter Jettster and it really got me thinking.

And does anyone actually care about who won between the dumpy looking Stomrtroopers vs. the barely touched on Resistance? I didn't really. I only cared about Han and Chewbacca (especially when Chewie screams when Han bites it) and thought the "lonely Rey" scenes in the beginning of the movie were quite touching. Beyond that? Who didn't THINK that they'd blow up the Starkiller base the second it was introduced?

The Force Awakens is way better than the prequels, especially in the acting and dialogue department, but I don't think those are the only three criticisms that have been going around. Just the ones we're currently discussing. :lol

Yeah, that's true.

Blunt question time: Does anyone think that Poe might be gay?

If anyone is gay, it's Kylo Ren. I hope that's not done just to further the liberal agenda. If it's done realistically (with any character) it would be a non issue. Just like Finn being black is a non issue.

Oh I know I was just cracking myself up. :lol But regarding your previous paragraph, no I don't equate any of the TFA scenes or characters you mentioned with anything in the PT. To get into specifics as to why would just be me "prequel bashing" so I'll leave it at that.

Nah they wouldn't make a bad guy gay.

I actually thought Finn came off as a bit gay, but that's what I took away from seeing him in interviews. So, if Poe and Finn ever run to the end of a hallway and find themselves needing to swing across a chasm, then brace yourselves!

This isn't 1950's Mississippi, why would him being black be an issue?

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I have nothing against gay people, but as a fan of movies and superheroes, I like a certain type of hero, and a dude who likes other dudes doesn't really appeal to me, if anything, some of my favorite characters growing up were asexual, like the T 800, Robocop, and Rambo, all characters that don't seem to show any interest in women for different reasons. All they do is kick ass, look cool, and that's it, and as a child that's probably what your looking for in a hero.

It might also depend on the character, if you were to tell me the joker is gay, it wouldn't surprise me. If that were the case, it probably wouldn't bother me as long as they don't show him...doing certain things. Still, they gave him a girlfriend, Harley, and that didn't exactly made him a better character either, imo. I'm not a big fan of Harley.

True, but little kids probably aren't thinking about that sort of thing anyway. Boys probably want a hero they can emulate and look up to (probably not Finn), and the same goes with girls which is why Disney is taking SW, the ultimate boy franchise, and changing the demographic to appeal to their biggest audience, girls. I do think Disney should stay away from making gay characters because I don't see how that in anyway fits in a story...especially in a SW film.

I just hope Disney lets us "have it both ways" with regard to Poe. Kind of like Top Gun. They're gay if you want them to be, if not they're just affectionate brothers in arms (which I would personally prefer.)

You can be my wingman anytime bro!

If its not Poe or Finn, who's gonna bang Rey from one end of the galaxy to the other? :gah:

I'm really not sure where all this gay Poe is coming from. Not once did I think Poe was gay, and it was clear that Finn liked Rey. The scenes with Poe and Finn came across as just two friends, nothing more. I be in the next film they'll show him having a family, probably a wife and kid, not some big hairy dude he calls big daddy, not in a Disney film. :lol

Oh you guys...

Double standards indeed jye.

What difference would it make one way or the other. I never understood how some people could be against a fictional character being ANYTHING. If Poe is gay, Finn is gay, BB-8 and R2 are gay or Rey is gay (double standard!!) it shouldn't effect you one way or the other. You shouldn't feel threatened by it. It doesn't affect you in any way, other than forcing you dealing with the guilt of your biggotted or racist ways. 'I don't want Poe and/or Finn to be gay because....' why? What's the root of the problem you have with a fictional characters sexual preference?
