Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The new Star Trek score was one of the first movie scores I've bought in a while. Thought it was great. With such an iconic and known theme already established for Star Trek, I thought it would be impossible to create a new score fans would like...and I thought it was awesome!

If Williams doesn't score this one, I'm down for Giachinno.. Loved his Trek soundtrack.

I can't even fathom the stress of having to sit down and start to write a new Star Wars saga. In the back your mind you're probably wondering is this going to work are they gonna like it. It would be so hard to not repeat scenes , and to redo what has already been done. You can only tell a story so many times before it starts to sound like something you've already done.

It's everywhere. On almost every site.

One or two sites, sure. But most film sites?

I get your point. Still, I can't wait for an "official" press release with Disney/Lucasfilm/Abrams. Everything thus far cites his former interview where he denied he was helming this. Anyways, his enthusiasm for the series has my hopes set higher than I'd like them.

Do we expect him to direct all three or will there be a new director for each episode?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Abrams is above all a fan, and he will give us what we want. Super 8 and Star Trek were great IMO, and I also thoroughly enjoyed Fringe and Lost.

As said, even a monkey could direct a trilogy better than the prequels. Its all about the script, and I have faith in the writer as well.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Well...I'll be in the minority here, but I wish they'd gone with someone else. I'm just not that impressed with what Abrams has done. And the thought of seeing Star Wars infected with lens flares and a succession of "Wouldn't it be cool if..." shots will completely miss the point. But...he's popular and had Hollywood-style success, so I'm sure Diz thinks he's a safe bet....

Was really hoping for a new voice here, not a Hollywood It-Boy insider who's only good technique is being Spielberg -lite...

Oh well...I'll always have the original six to watch....

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Star Trek reboot was OK, but has many flaws. The cast looked like the came from a GAP commercial or GLEE. And I hated Chris Pine as Kirk. He was basically a goof ball.

A new Star Wars is going to be tough to pull off. So many ways to ruin it. Not sure whats left in the Skywalker Storyline.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Who'd have thought that one day we'd have the same people making both Star Wars and Star Trek. It's like a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. :panic:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Have to admit I didn't think JJ would get the part since he has Star Trek already. But hey, can't be any worse than Lucas :lol

Yeah thats kinda wierd. But I'll take it.

Now we just need confirmation on whose scoring and if the original cast will come back in at least some kind of capacity.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I love most of Lost, consider Fringe classic tv, and really dug the hell out of the new Star Trek film so Abrams for me is strong in the ways of the force. Cannot wait for Into Darkness either.
