Ive built myself up so much on the possibility of seeing the original core team together again that if I didn't see them, on some form, I think I'd be disappointed. I'm not all up in arms with the way they look either. They aged. I think all the complaints of seeing them old and " wrinkled " is silly and juvenile.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I honestly think Mark Hamill is going to get a supporting role as the mentor this time around. Han and Leia don't need to be in it if its focused on some Jedi. Having them in reasonable cameo roles would be cool, though. Leia as a political figure coordinating with the Jedi to achieve some mission near the beginning of the story, Han flying the Millenium Falcon as the biggest hunk of junk in the galaxy to get them there at some point, and hiding out in some new bizarre business operation from bad guys run by none other than Lando. And of course, the droids are a must! Optionally, Han and Lando can be New Republic Generals still and show up with Leia, but I think spreading them out could be more fun. Reunite them all by the end of the movie/trilogy. Focus on what works for the story, not what everybody wants to see.

What's the first stand alone STAR WARS film to be made?

Hey folks, Harry here... There's a whole bunch of movement happening at the Magic Kingdom these days... Mayimbe was talking about Marvel's HULK Plans and how they may affect the 3rd AVENGERS film... We're focused upon the sequel trilogy we've been waiting for most of our entire lives. But the wild success of THE AVENGERS and the anticipated gargantuan STAR WARS with JJ Abrams directing.. it has reformatted alot of Disney's plan. IMAGINEERING had been working up ideas for a grand expansion at DISNEYLAND that was to bring Frank L Baum's OZ into a fully realized extension of the park, and while I'd love to go there... The word I'm hearing now is they've dropped that in lieu of a STAR WARS extension in California Adventure Park. OZ could happen, but only if Raimi's film is a stunning success. But you're not hear for the themepark buzz... or maybe you do care desperately like I do. But really, what's Disney going to be doing with these STAND ALONE films...

Well, to start with they're going to focus on established characters and do solo films, no, not necessarily Han Solo films, but well, **** it... The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate... I'm wildly curious for more details on the YODA film - would this be a young or old YODA tale?

Knowing that Lucasfilm is doing a series of stand alone character features... I wonder if Joe Johnston has pitched Kennedy his stand alone BOBA FETT film he was talking about after the release of Captain America. Hmmmmm... Now, let's chase after YODA details... Where's FRANK OZ? Giggle. Gotta love chasing STAR WARS stories! Oh - and I've also heard tale of a JABBA story that Lucas has floated to some of his buddies. But word is YODA is first.

Interesting idea. It sounds like they're trying to replicate the Avengers formula by having the solo films that then probably culminate to an ensemble movie.

And I have to say that I feel really sorry for Oz to have gotten the shaft as soon as Disney acquired SW! I actually think Oz is better suited for the Disney theme park than SW is. SW should have its own theme park!

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

its just spam about the Yoda movie.. dont worry mein Herr ;)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The reason the OT was so great and so different was that it was philosophy in a sci fi setting. Most sci fi just jumps the shark without knowing how to restrain itself.
I can see Abrams wanting to expand this story into a larger context of some far more ancient storyline.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Flare Of The Lens.

A Yoda solo film?? I don't know what to say.. :lol

Oh - I know, "..I have a bad feeling about this.."

:D

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I'm kinda skeptical about this YODA thing for now. Reason being is that Kathleen Kennedy/LFL/Disney have pretty much made all the right moves so far. But this would be the opposite... a horrible idea all the way around. Devin at BadAssDigest pretty much echoes my thoughts on this exactly:

Last month Vulture ran a story claiming that Zack Snyder would be the first out the gate with a standalone Star Wars movie with a film based loosely on Seven Samurai. The usual denials flew. Now Ain't It Cool has another contender for the first standalone Star Wars movie: a Yoda film.

This does not fill me with happiness, to be honest. I got exactly enough Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. With wise mentor types less is always more, a lesson no one involved in any aspect of Star Wars HAS EVER LEARNED. And not only did I get enough of him in those two movies, I got way too much of him in the Prequel films, especially the bits of him spinning and flipping and running around like a Sonic the Hedgehog character. I have zero faith in the Lucasfilm/Disney powers that be to understand this is not a good look for Yoda, and I fully expect him to be doing that same sort of bull**** in this solo movie.

How should Yoda fight? With stillness. He should be like some old master in a kung fu movie, standing there barely paying attention, blocking attacks and cutting mother****ers down while eating an apple or something. That's badass. Tadpole hopping is not.
