Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

A Yoda film would be amazing for me, always thought about his life having hung in there for to the ripe old age of 900 years, that leaves a big untold story.

I think episode 7 will be set 30 years after ROTJ, with the age of the OT cast, and might be around 100 Jedi as there would be still a lot of force sensitive beings still around at that time. Like the idea Han and Lando as New Republic Generals, Luke as a Grand Master, also there kids should be in there..But if they CGI the Millennium Falcon I will be pissed.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Am I the only one who isn't a fan of Yoda?

I'm a huge fan of OT Yoda. One of the all-time characters.

PT and Clone Wars Yoda, however, can go jump inside a Bantha's *** and stay there.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yoda's fight scenes should have been done like Master Oogway in Kung Fu Panda when he defeats the leopard.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I like Yoda, but not sure about a full movie about him. Could work, I just don't know how.

Of course, the flipping videogame Yoda of the prequels would probably keep me out of the theaters.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

This does not fill me with happiness, to be honest. I got exactly enough Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. With wise mentor types less is always more, a lesson no one involved in any aspect of Star Wars HAS EVER LEARNED. And not only did I get enough of him in those two movies, I got way too much of him in the Prequel films, especially the bits of him spinning and flipping and running around like a Sonic the Hedgehog character. I have zero faith in the Lucasfilm/Disney powers that be to understand this is not a good look for Yoda, and I fully expect him to be doing that same sort of bull**** in this solo movie.

How should Yoda fight? With stillness. He should be like some old master in a kung fu movie, standing there barely paying attention, blocking attacks and cutting mother****ers down while eating an apple or something. That's badass. Tadpole hopping is not.[/COLOR]

Hells yes, in utter agreement with this. :lecture:lecture

And this. :lecture

I totally agree with the 'less is more' sentiment.

Yoda's exposition in the OT was handled well, he was an intriguing character, that we wanted to see more of because of that.

As mentioned - since the PT & CW show, he's simply been over used. If this is their method to market to a newer audience, the wind's starting to leave my sails. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

What I agree with is the PT Yoda looked terrible like a cartoon, In Empre the puppet was amazing even back 1980, you believed that this creature was real. If they used a puppet again that would be great, wont happen though, In the PT they should have used a good puppet and CGI for fight scenes the fight scenes were so wrong though, Yoda is a grand Master he'd take you out with one touch, he wouldn't be jumping all over the place like Sonic the Hedgehog. :slap:slap

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

What's really hilarious, is if you check out the making of AOTC, there's a section where Uncle George is discussing the Yoda / Dooku fight with his animation team. He basically says, that he doesn't want Yoda to look silly; like he's jumping around like a joke.

That's exactly what he got in the end. :lol

Totally. Here's what I have in mind:

Seriously though, Muppet puppets were at their artistic peak in the late '70s and early '80s. Not sure we'll get anything approaching the awesomeness of the original Yoda, unless they directly copy what was done before.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I liked PT Yoda, it was great seeing the combat side of him after decades of him be only half a Jedi.

Like it or not Jedi and Lightsaber combata go hand in hand

The PM puppet was still loads better then the cartoon we got in AOTC and Sith, and he changed it to the Cgi Yoda, for the blu ray PT.:gah:

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Because the TPM puppet was terribly ugly, they changed him too much. ROTS looks fine, though I kinda wish they would rerender AOTC Yoda, they had some new skin shaders since then that make it look much more realistic.
