Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I gotta say I had enough of Yoda in ESB. While I like the idea that Luke would go back to him in ROTJ it wasn't needed. Plus the puppet routine didn't work as well in ROTJ.

I disagree. The character needed closure. Luke would go to who he believed was the last Jedi Master in the galaxy to complete his training. I think it'd leave too many people scratching their heads as to why Luke never went back after his promise in ESB. Also, Luke would seek out answers regarding Vader's revelation to him. Who else would he turn to besides Yoda?

I agree that Yoda should remain mysterious. I didn't hate him in the prequels. I thought he got better with each installment both visually and as a character. I am not the biggest fan of his fighting but honestly, I choose to ignore it along with the rest of the PT. Whatever, right?

I think an anthology film in the same vein as the "Tales of the..." books from the mid-'90s could work better. I can't see a worthwhile film about Yoda, Boba Fett, or Chewbacca to be honest. A 30-40 minute short with them? That's more doable.

I'd really like them to keep this on the backburner while they focus on this sequel trilogy.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I did too. I really liked Yoda in the PT and how he was handled. I still don't know if I want a full film based on the character but I could be tempted if it looks cool enough.

I thought he was done just fine, also. His fighting style? He was 2 feet high, how else would he fight? I moreso liked his meditation room musings, because that was more like the Yoda I knew from the OT, but it seems reasonable that in his younger years, he would have needed to fight as well. Having said that, I also wouldn't mind seeing him use the Force like he did in the Tartakovsky CW series in the new CW series as well. Yoda pushing around transports was just cool! Also wouldn't mind some sort of flashback to the days when Dooku was his Padawan. His sense of betrayal and disdain for Dooku have been evident at every turn, would be interesting to see the days when they got along. Maybe he favored Dooku enough to entrust him with secret teachings of the Force? Would make Dooku's betrayal so much more of a knife in the ribs if he had been Yoda's star pupil!

I don't want an origin story on Yoda, though. I think it would diminish his mystery and his overall character.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The PM puppet was still loads better then the cartoon we got in AOTC and Sith, and he changed it to the Cgi Yoda, for the blu ray PT.:gah:

Well, I'm glad we found the one person who feels this way.

OT puppet Yoda rocked, Grampa Simpson Yoda from TPM just suxs! :yuck

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yoda should have never had a lightsaber or flipping action, period.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I got to Cryogenic's stuff and my mind... started to... die....

My cursor involuntarily moved up to and closed the tab and then I felt better.

I did read the JJ's quotes that sound like he's more of an OT person, which IMHO is a good thing.

Ugh. Disney is going to over saturate this line. I've got a bad feeling about this. :( these movies will just be lead ins for future Disney park rides. :monkey3

Yeah I just read on the internet that there might be a Star Wars movie coming out every year, while the trilogy is being filmed within 6 years. This is a huge money maker for them and they will probably recoup all the money they paid George Lucas. Just imagine all the toys that will be coming out, my mind going to explode.

sent from my R2 unit

You act like Star Wars has been this untapped thing. Star Wars has been overmarketed for years. And has ****ty rides, ****ty toys, and ****ty products.

Disney isn't going to do much worse then Star Wars Angry Birds.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Great... stand-alones. Anywho... hopefully if we get Fett back in the mix (Gonna hate to say this cause I like Temura's impression.), but I think they should still keep a helmet on him to relish the still mysterious. Cause in a way, Boba never took his helmet off...

And Star Wars Angry Birds is awesome.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yoda's fight scenes should have been modeled after Tai Chi sword technique, not Tasmanian devil.

Ugh?

1) If you have been around long enough you should know that the world is already saturated with Star Wars.

2) Star Wars theme parks rides would be awesome. There has, in face, already been for decades. Bring more! BRING THEM!!!!

3) Do you feel Disney has saturated Marvel? I don't feel that way and all they are saying is that SW is going to follow a schedule similar to what they have done with Marvel.

More Star Wars is a good thing in the right hands. We'll see. :yess:
