Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread
I disagree. The character needed closure. Luke would go to who he believed was the last Jedi Master in the galaxy to complete his training. I think it'd leave too many people scratching their heads as to why Luke never went back after his promise in ESB. Also, Luke would seek out answers regarding Vader's revelation to him. Who else would he turn to besides Yoda?
I agree that Yoda should remain mysterious. I didn't hate him in the prequels. I thought he got better with each installment both visually and as a character. I am not the biggest fan of his fighting but honestly, I choose to ignore it along with the rest of the PT. Whatever, right?
I think an anthology film in the same vein as the "Tales of the..." books from the mid-'90s could work better. I can't see a worthwhile film about Yoda, Boba Fett, or Chewbacca to be honest. A 30-40 minute short with them? That's more doable.
I'd really like them to keep this on the backburner while they focus on this sequel trilogy.
I gotta say I had enough of Yoda in ESB. While I like the idea that Luke would go back to him in ROTJ it wasn't needed. Plus the puppet routine didn't work as well in ROTJ.
