Siskel & Ebert only needed 5 minutes and a thumb.
Just watched the 3D version.
Even with the non Imax ratio the 3D translated very well to the home screen, I think I remember only a few scenes where the conversion was flat. Another good conversion (not really filmed in 3D), yes that now famous star destroyer 3D shot looks just as good as it did in Imax as did the MF chase on Jakku.
Regarding the actual movie.
My emotions are like a roller coaster with this damn movie, so conflicted am I.
I now enjoyed it again, sheesh.
Yeah it got a tad bit boring towards the middle but it all quickly picks up again.
Rey's lightsaber scenes with Kylo remain spectacular, she really pulled it off.
Such a gorgeous battle, very samurai in the snow like, great addition to the SW canon.
The MF escape is still a powerhouse of a scene.
Just a nitpick but the X-Wings needed to move a little slower and have more engine sound.
Solo's death just hurts...really really hurts watching his daughter taking him out.
Luke at the end still tears me up.
I now feel confident comparing this movie to ROTJ although it still comes in 4th place after ROTJ.
I can't believe they had Chewie rip off Plutt's arm in the deleted scene, should've kept that in the movie lol.

Just the way Chewie grabs his wrist, twists his arm to dislocate it, then rips it out with that scream and the blood all because Plutt was being a ***** and poking his bandage. *shudder* A definite exclamation point to the notion that the galaxy can be a brutal place and that Chewie is absolutely NOT to be trifled with. I think that scene plus the one scene where Leia sends that girl who ends up getting blown up on the balcony of the Republic (who clearly did not want to go) would have added a couple of borderline disturbing moments to the film. Then if those moments were added in PLUS the jokey scene of Han in the tunnel under Maz' castle with the Stormtroopers it might have given the whole film a bit of a "Temple of Doom" vibe, that fascinating juxtaposition of dark, disturbing, and violent offset by borderline silly brevity.
Thinking of where each of those scenes would have had to have been placed the pacing of the film was probably better served without them but it would have been interesting to see nonetheless.
Was it ever figured out who Plutt called after Rey refused to sell BB8?
Also why would Plutt be at Maz's place anyways.
This is also a HUGE problem i'm having with TFA, I can only remember planet Jakku,
At least with the PT the planet names were memorable...except the one where Grievous fought with Obi-Wan.
I have to tell you Khev, when "that scene" starts with Han and Kylo.....where Han first notices him walking out to the bridge, I get antsy.
So you 2 don't think Snoke has anything to do with Vader?
Rey's lightsaber battle and "awakening" during it remains a very powerful heroic scene for me.
Anyways back to Snoke/Ren...Han even warned him that Snoke will crush him!
It's not going to go well for Ren.
