Stoke has to be Palpatine. Rule of thumb if we didn't see them die on screen their not dead!

The voices in Rey's vision could've been handled much better, all you really hear is Obi-Wan's "These are your first steps".

Why even bother adding Yoda's voice if its going to be drowned out and too short in length.

I liked the Bespin dark hallway though, would've been cool if they kept ESB Vader/Luke in the shot as was originally intended but I also get why they scrapped it.

The first few times I saw it I only heard Yoda's voice and Ben saying "Rey". It wasn't until I had the BD with the closed caption on that I heard Ewan's line.

Seriously Disney? TFA is on Starz this week and the entire movie is cropped to 16:9.

BUT...the Falcon chase is actually the EXPANDED 16:9 digital IMAX ratio that we did NOT get on either blu-ray. They're just taunting us now. :gah:

:lol

Wait, the Starz version actually opens up to the 1.78:1 ratio! :gah:

That's just wrong on so many levels.

Were the Imax scenes in TFA actually shot with 70mm Imax stock?

I think they were if i'm not mistaken.

Starz is showing the whole movie at 1.78:1 so two hours of it is cropped at the sides EXCEPT for the Falcon chase which actually shows you *more* than what you get on blu-ray. :banghead

Yep they sure were and even on blu-ray I can notice the ever so slight upgrade in clarity when the footage switches as Rey and Finn are running out of the martketplace on Jakku.

You mean that Snoke was Vader's secret apprentice? An apprentice who would have been replaced had Luke joined the dark side. But he survived the end of the Empire. Now Snoke hates the Skywalkers and wants to lure Luke out to finish off the last of the line for good (including Kylo after that).

Oh... is that a spoiler?

Great here we go... Starkiller Base = Named after Starkiller Vader's secret apprentice who was cloned numerous times. God... couldn't Disney just do the senseable thing and let Star Wars die. This continuity since EU was super clean is a bad Bryan Singers X-Men.

After years of searching, why is little orphan Rey chosen to go find the great Luke Skywalker...?

Just because she found the lightsaber? Really? That gives you the job over someone like Leia, a known blood relative.

Did everyone tell her she's Luke's kid off-screen? Filmmaker's wouldn't do that.

Why didn't Leia go to find her brother...? They really only scraped the surface with Leia, making her a 'general', and that's about it; no love from Chewie when Han dies, no task of finding her brother, she couldn't even protect her people (her own ship allowed the villains to track her back to her secret base). Pretty useless general.

And what happened to the whole 'I-have-to-go-back-home' motif that Rey constantly mentioned..?. until suddenly she's assigned the task of bringing Luke back.

It's amazing how good performances and a mostly enjoyable first-viewing can hide a lot of holes.

Most probably because Leia knows what Rey is, as does Luke when he sees the lightsaber.

I stand by my theory that Rey is a reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker, one that Luke had been waiting for a long time.

Here's how I think it'll play out. At some point after ROTJ, Anakin's ghost begins to feel drawn back to our world via a child. He tells Luke of this and prepares him for what that could mean for the Rebellion/Resistance. If Snoke got his hands on Rey/Anakin, the Dark Side would have the weapon they needed [again] to take back the galaxy. Instead, Anakin urges Luke to hide the child he's being drawn to, from everyone - even Luke himself so if Snoke captured him he wouldn't be able to pull her identity from his mind. Luke gives the task of hiding her to Lor San Tekka who drops her on an old Sith world (Jakku) and basically is the only person who knows how to find her (and Luke). Prior to vanishing, Anakin's ghost tells Luke they will see each other again and that Luke will know who he is when he sees him (her).

What neither Anakin nor Luke realize is that The Force has its own plans. Rey/Anakin's time on Jakku is penance for the atrocities Vader committed as Vader. And when said penance is done (TFA) its The Force that guides Rey/Anakin back to Luke via Finn, Han, etc.

There are clues to this in Rey's vision at Maz's and her fight with Kylo. "THE FORCE AWAKENS". More like ANAKIN AWAKENS inside Rey.
